I weigh myself every morning, which is also what I did pre-surgery. But I'm the kind of person that doesn't go **** bonkers and eat a bucket of fried chicken out of despair if I go up half a pound overnight or don't lose three days in a row. If I ever get to that point I'll make my husband take away my scale...

It will vary- your body is still adjusting to the surgery and you are still on liquids at this point... I am 6 weeks out and have lost 40 since surgery but it's similar to the band- the scale moves on it's time.. I am maintaining ketogenic/low carb diet and using both the scale and measurements to track progress- I would have gone crazy now just looking at the scale... My doctor said that band revision patients lose slower~ I believe it! That said I am losing inches and able to fit back into clothes.... so hang in there... congratulations!

Something else to consider getting is a shower chair. You can get them cheap online or at Walmart. 20 days out from surgery and I am still using mine as I tend to get a little dizzy still and it makes for a safer environment for washing my hair and shaving my legs. While your bandages are in place your doctor most likely won't allow you to sit in a bath so that's why I chose a chair.

You've got two great suggestions right there: a food scale (doesn't have to be expensive) and some small containers so you can take food with you. You've really got it, but if you're looking for additional items, an attractive water bottle might make it easier for you to drink Water (I've got the Camelbak Eddy, but there are tons of water bottles out there). Also, I got one of those hot water plates for when I started to eat more or less solid food: we have to eat so slowly that my food was stone cold before I even got halfway! As far as cold water goes, you might discover that warm liquids feel better. Everyone's different. And don't worry about getting more food; your tastes might change and that's impossible to predict. Sounds like you're really pretty much ready. Good luck!

Who the heck is telling you your uglier now? Get away from them asap. You did this for yourself, your health. Please don't listen to them. I am thinking you are their verbal punching bag and that you probably look so good now that your looks are threatening to others. Hang in there, and fine new people to hang around with.

Not sure why a port would be an option unless they think this will be a chronic problem for you..... It should pass.... I hope you are soon feeling better

They won't put a port in unless they feel it's medically necessary and see it as a long term issue that would warrant such a measure.

I understand your frustration. I have fibromyalgia too and have been in and out of the hospital much more frequently than I would like and need to get blood work almost weekly lately it seems.

I had a Picc line in for almost 6 months after sleeve surgery because I couldn't eat or drink anything due to nausea. I ended up getting 2 blood infections during that time.

You are more than welcome to bring up the idea of getting a port put in but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I know it is hard to get all your Fluid in, especially right after surgery. I am almost a year out and that is still the thing I struggle the most with.

Sorry that you are having these issues and hope things get better for you. Are you having to go to infusion center daily? What is your doctor telling you?

I went to the AMAZING dr Carmina Cardenas in Mexico for a neck lift, breast lift and extended Tummy Tuck with muscle repair plus five days stay recovery with 25 hour nursing. My cost was $12,750.

Surgery was 4/18 -- I have lost 16 pounds since coming home from the hospital. I've noticed my clothes are a bit looser, and my face looks a bit thinner.
I've also noticed I think about food a lot, how to make my favorites healthier, how to creatively fit more Protein in, etc. I'm still exhausted so can't speak to having more energy.
I'm experiencing a lot more regret than I thought I would, but I know that's normal and temporary.
Congrats to everyone on the strides made so far!!!

I was sleeved 4/5 and have lost almost 30 lbs between the pre-op and surgery. Here are a list of things I notice:
My lower legs don't hurt as much when I walk. I don't have to spread my legs out as much as before just to walk. If I pay attention, I don't waddle as much. I'm loosing in my upper waist, face and butt. I'm going to miss my butt. I still mentally crave large portions. I dream of food on occasion. I can bend down without too much trouble. I'm still tired in the afternoons but that is going away. Loosing fat hurts! I swear I can feel the fat transform because my thighs and back of my arms ache. Like soreness after working out but more painful. I'm not doing any weight lifting right now.

I'm curious to know what positive changes April sleevers have already started noticing. Share your changes here!
I was sleeved on April 11th. With the pre-op diet and sleeve, I am down nearly 36 pounds from my highest weight. So far I've noticed that my back no longer hurts when I walk. I also noticed that I'm able to talk while walking to meetings with my co-workers. It's amazing how much of a difference 36 pounds makes!

Good morning all, I just started full liquids this morning. I had some plain yogurt. Felt ok. Got nauseous for a quick second after. I'm confused about the 30/30 rule though. My booklet from the doc says to begin it at this stage. But it's all liquids. Do you need to wait 30 minutes after yogurt to begin sipping fluids? What about Soup? Thanks in advance. I've found these forums to be the greatest thing after surgery!

I have Aetna. I noticed the date on my letter is a week prior to the actual surgery date. My doctors double checks 2 days prior to surgery to be sure of no surprises and my surgery is Monday. They called to confirm on Friday and all is good.

Jadeskys reacted to Alex Brecher in So what about plastic surgery in mexico via connections from this forum
Great question! I've been hesitant to partner with just any plastic surgeon in MX. There are many to choose from but not many that are 5 star. I have a meeting with whom I consider the #1 plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Mexico tomorrow. She's operated on hundreds of post-WLS patients and is a super surgeon. If all goes well, we will start working with her shortly. Stay tuned for further info.

I am extremely happy and I would never never have plastic surgery in the us. I have have been treated like family here.

My best friend also had bypass and plastic surgery in the USA. She was sent home to her hotel 2 hours post op with no after care. Only her mom to help her. She had a 360 degree Tummy Tuck, breast implants and Bracioplasty. They sent her away with five drains. Absolutely horrific.

This surgery is huge!!! You MUST have post op care. You must have help dressing your wounds and caring for yourself. It is not in my opinion an outpatient surgery.

I have everything done for me. Today and for the next three days I get gentle massages, help with anything I need. All
My dressings changed, help showering, and my doctor checks on me daily. Now that's what I call care!!

Do yourself a favor. Go to dr carmina de and save thousands of dollars and get the best of care.

I am a real person and in no way affiliated with dr cardenas except that I adore her. She has given me the body of my dreams.

I have just had plastic surgery in Mexico. My Dr is Dr Carmina Cardenas and she is located in Tijuana. She is the absolute best thing that has happened to me.
I had a neck lift, breast lift, and Tummy Tuck plus five days stay at her recovery house with 24 hour nursing care for $12750.
She has been my hero this whole time. She is beautiful and kind and I have been treated like her daughter. Her office and her hospital, hospital CER, is incredible. The hospital CER specializes in bariatric surgery and plastic surgery. It is nicer than any hospital I've ever been inside of in the USA.
I cannot express enough how important having post operative care is after plastic surgery. It would be a nightmare to try and do the at home alone. Plastic surgeons in the USA send you home 2 hours after surgery!!!! That is insane. I stayed the night in the beautiful hospital being check on every hour and now I'm staying 5 days at the recovery house here, all my needs taken care of.
Also dr carmina does not use narcotics. She used a pain pump system that has controlled my pain much much better than anything I was ever given in the use. I'm feeling strong and recovering more quickly do to this.
Please feel free to pm me if you are considering plastic surgery in Mexico. I cannot recommend my doctor enough. She is amazing. She also had bariatric surgery herself and plastic surgery and she has a deep understanding of the weight loss patients needs.
