Today I Shine but not about my weight
Previously I cut all ties with my publisher for personal reasons. So I decided to submit my manuscript to one of the hardest to get published, publishing companies in the United States. I did this about six weeks ago and figured well they said I would hear something in two weeks. So I gave up. I continue to write everyday because I love to do it and well..... I think I am pretty good at it. So today came the email and I didn't want to open it because I knew it was a rejection email. After all this time it had to be right? WRONG WRONG WRONG! Not only did they accept my manuscript but said this: Congratulations Cheryl! Tate Publishing has accepted your book,"The Prevalence of Love" for publication. This email is to inform you that we would love to move you to the next step in this process and get you a contract to look over. I have been reading through your submission and I am certainly impressed. This is a project that we are really interested in taking on. I just want you to know upfront that I really enjoyed your work and we are excited about this opportunity. Please take some time to read through the material and let me know if you have any questions. It is important that you know what it is about your book that caught our eye and you need to realize that a lot of time and effort goes in to each review of every submission that comes to us. Your book has been chosen on the basis of writing ability, concept and most importantly- marketability. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you as one of the 4% chosen out of tens of thousands each year to become a published author with us. Congratulations! I was moved by your short stories and the encouragement that radiates in your writing. We are very honored to have you come our way and look forward to working with you on this project. Yes they read every single submission they get and my book was picked! Over the years my writing has improved drastically. I not only just produce books but I write for Yahoo Voices, The Examiner, Angies Diaries and many other websites. With perserverence I have been given an opportunity that most authors never have the chance to get. It is hard to get published and while I have been publshed for quite some time by another publishing company that is being sued by many authors for their lies and deciet, I have broken through to a publisher that is by far hard as hell to get published by. So today I do my happy dance and now you all know what I do instead of thinking of food. I write. TIME FOR A BIG HAPPY DANCE

do i need more?
You are not eating to get full anymore. You are eating to feel satisfied there is a big difference in the two. If you eat a cetain amount then start getting stuck you are eating too fast. You cant just keep eating with the band or you will have issues.

Thinking of switching to a sleeve
At six weeks post op you should just now be on your second week of whole foods. Do you have a fluid in your band? Have you called your doctor? Does he know your issues? I think rushing to change to a different surgery when you are still healing from this one is not a good idea. You havent given much information about your eating. When did you start solid foods. You may have severe swelling from getting stuck so much and need to give your stomach a rest with liquids.

Am I dehydrated?
If you pinch the skin on your arms and it stays up a few minutes then you are dehydrated if not then you are not. I would still go to the er and see if they can remove some fluid.

Ketosis
You breath is really bad that is one way to tell if you are in ketosis. If you are eating nothing but protein you can bet your sweet but you are ketosis.

1week post first fill
You are not going to lose weight every single week. It just doesnt happen, however lentils being high in protein are very high in carbs also.

Frustrated
First of all you have to get control of your eating no matter how many cc's are in your band. Secondly no matter what you have to make time to eat. Thirdly protein shakes should not be part of your regualr diet you have to learn to eat with your band as many dont and rely on protein shakes for no good reason. You have to eat a cup or less of food three times a day which is mainly protein, stay away from starchy carbs and junk food, drink 64 ounces of water, if you choose to have snacks then they need to be high protein such as lunch meat, greek yogurt, boiled eggs. You can only succeed if you want too. I have been banded for three years also and have not gained any weight back. You still have to maintain control of what you eat even after you lose all your weight. The band will not stop you from eating for the most part it will only keep you satisfied on small amounts of food for long periods 4 to 5 hours. You have to make time to eat lunch when your working because I can see when you go home you're starving and probably eat the whole days worth of calories in one meal. You have to do this. High protein, low carbs is the key to success and making sure you do not go over your allotted amounts of food each day. We all want to eat but I want to be thin more.

Breast reduction?
Well I personally would wait until you get closer to goal because if you get a reduction and a good lift they could possibly sag again after more weight loss.
-
You have to learn to eat with your band
I know I used to love waffles and now I could care less if I get them or not. Yes it should be your choice but not a doctors to tell you that you need a protein shake to live off of.

Jan 23... Really? Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Yes I am sure we could all eat 10 cups of food if we wanted too but constraint comes with the band also. Besides if you have an restriction forcing 3 cups of salad in to your pouch is a sure way to start the erosion process. So tell her eat up she will be losing her band in a couple years lol

Not banded, but looking for someone to talk to
No it wont. It does happen but if you look up band erosion it will tell you that most erosion comes from being too tight and over eating. Some people like their bands tight but they also have to know they cant eat a lot with a tight band or this will happen. I dont want my band tight because I want to be able to eat without issues.
-
Not banded, but looking for someone to talk to
Erosion mostly happens to people who over eat with their bands. It's actually only 4% which is a small number of erosion or complications from the band. If you are too tight and continually over eat yes you can cause erosion but its very unlikely if you follow the program like you are supposed to. Yes some people do have to get their bands removed but most failures are fromt he patient not the band.

Not banded, but looking for someone to talk to
I have been banded for three years. I am a success. We need to know what you are confused about and any questions you have. Ask away we will all help you.

27 weeks pregnant and I think my band is super swollen (flu + inability to do glucose test)
Did you not get your band unfilled when you were first pregnant? If not then I would go for an unfill right away. Its not good to have a full band while pregant.

You have to learn to eat with your band
I read a post that a doctor told a patient that you will be relying on protein shakes the rest of your life because you can't possilbly consume enough protein in one day for the requirements. I say that is utter nonsense and no doctor should expect you to live off of protein shakes. Even being tight in the morning you can consume some yogurt or oatmeal that has protein in it. Or add some protein powder if you have too. But you have to learn to eat with your band and if you are more then three months out and still relying on protein shakes then you need to rethink your eating strategy. Yes I am tight in the morning but I can get in Greek yogurt, eggs, Quaker weight control oatmeal, cream of wheat, without relying on protein shakes. I have not drank them except after a fill since I was a month post op. I want to consume food and not liquid calories. What is the point of having something if you have to drink your meals. You might as well skip surgery and do slim fast because that is exactly what you are doing. I can easily get in 90 grams of protein per day on food. If your doctor insist that you have to drink protein shakes the rest of your life then I would find a new doctor. There is no reason to drink them just for protein when all you're doing is drinking liquids that won't keep you full. It's everyones choice what they want to do but if you can't learn to eat real food with your band then what's the point. I would rather have a full stomach that will be satisfied for 4 hours then drink liquid calories just to get in protein. No way no how am I living off of shakes to get in protein. Just my thoughts and opinion.
