  1. Life will always get in our way but now is the true test to not let food be you stress relief. I understand how much you have on your plate but we have to learn to not let life cause us to love food again.
  2. well it will eventually stop they are wonderful drugs but the side affects are horrible
  3. 22lbs in two months is a great loss. Its more then two pounds a week. People dont understand that the band is a slow weight loss and like CG a loss is a loss no matter whether it is an ounce or a pound. Slow and steady wins the race.
  4. unfortunately this is one of the side affects of steriods. It should resolve once you are off of them. If you are going to be on them longterm I would ask your doctor to switch you to something else. It makes you retain fluid very badly that is why the weight gain.
  5. I wouldnt consider potted meat a mushy but every doctor has their thing. Mushies to me are creamed soups, refried beans, and of that sort, sugar free pudding. I also would lay low on the mayo. Its not a good thing to start just yet. Just my opinion though.
  6. Yes they do make us crave sugar terribly that is why I stay clear of them.
  7. She is absolutely beautiful and perfect. Congrats mommy and you look awesome too.
  8. For most of us that are banded our doctors told us to stay away from breads, rice and pasta and with the exception that they do get stuck but for most they really only do one thing. They turn in to sugar after consumption and sugar turns in to stored fat. Our bodies need carbs to function but good carbs such as fruit and vegetables. Who wants to make anything we eat turn to fat? I don't I have had enough of that. Before the band and my many failed attempts at dieting I/we ate low calorie bread, a baked potatoe, rice, pasta and every other flipping thing that we thought was good. But in all reality eating those kinds of carbs only makes you crave more of those kinds of carbs. I did an experiment with myself and a group I was teaching in two different sessions. I gave everyone including myself one quater of a buttermilk bisquit (yes we ate it slow but it went down) the next week I asked them to report what happened when they went home. All of them including myself wanted more starchy carbs and some caved in and went on a binge for the next entire week which the out come was weight gain. The next week we ate a small plate of vegetables and some fruit (because I can't expect people to just eat veggies at 9 in the morning and the following week I asked them to report what happened. The group that starchy carb binged the week before got back on track and lost the weight they had gained but everyone said they did not crave starchy carbs from eating the fruit and vegetables. Once you reach goal then its fine to eat these things and add them back in to your diet but for me to do it is a disaster. This is only my personal experience with carbs and may not be yours but it is true that starchy carbs do turn to sugar and then they turn to fat. If you can't control your craving for carbs, then eliminating these from your diet may help. They also make you crave sugar too. TTFN
  9. I wouldnt stock up on too much either because just what you like now you may hate after surgery. I would say for after surgery a small amount of chicken broth because that gets old after a while, sf popsicles but not the fudge ones because even though they are sugar free they have a lot of calories even at 60 if you eat 10 a day thats 600 calories. Get the sugar free tropical pops at about 15 calories a pop. Protein shakes I dont know my taste changed after surgery and I hated the ones I bought. I like the eas already made carb control. Just buy enough for a week or a few days because Im telling you if you go crazy and buy stuff you may have a lot left that you cant get rid of. Sugar free jello now that you can keep for a while.
  10. While I dont have a period any longer, my weight fluctuates as much as 8lbs in a day. Its water weight and really unless we take water pills which is not a good thing to start unless you have blood pressure problems, then the only way to get rid of the water is to drink water. It may sound crazy but weight fluctuation happens to everyone. Even when you are not dieting, have wls. It is just part of life and not just a hormone issue. I would say dont weigh yourself during that part of your pack of pills. Wait until the second week of the new pack to weigh. It will only frustrate you and keep you miserable all the same. Just some of my suggestions.
  11. One thing that works is a little potion of apple juice hawaiin punch and tea bags. Place half a cup of apple juice and half a cup of hawaiin punch in the microwave together. Heat for about a minute or so depending on how hot you like it then place a tea bag in it and let it steep. Sip away and it should work better then any gas ex could. Cheaper then gas x strips for sure.
  12. Yes you are looking awesome. You are going to have a skinny waste.
  13. Bloating can come at any time. Retaining fluids, period, eating too much salt. We all get bloated even me after three years. Just drink lots of water and it should help resolve its self.
  14. You doctor should have free samples in his/her office. You should ask them. I would definitely stay off the sugar and carbs until you can do something but I would talk to your doctor about getting your medications. Most drug companies will give the drugs for free if you can't afford them. Its just paper work your doctor has to fill out and send to them. I wouldn't play around with diabetes alot can happen in 8 days.
  15. We couldnt be prouder of you. You are doing great so dont let any co workers discourage your goal.
  16. That is so great. Hope you keep it going your doing great.
  17. I only remember being down the first day then after that I was out walking around.
  18. If your band slipped you would know because you would be constantly be throwing up. You need to call your doctor right now. You cant afford not too.
  19. Its usually a sign that you are full
  20. Just think of this accomplishment. It is an accomplishment when you can dodge that all mighty junk food bullet. You did the right thing and you will be fine.
  21. You can not possibly eat that much food after surgery unless you really want to hurt yourself. Do you realize you are on liquids for a reason? Do you realize that every time you eat your stomach is moving and you were put on liquids so that your band area can heal. If you continue to eat that way then what is the point of having surgery. You have to have some constraint and eating cheese balls is not on your diet plan and mine neither after three years. You are already sabotaging yourself. Follow your post op instructions. 2 full cans of soup???? Really????
  22. Didnt your doctor suggest to remove the fluid out of your band while pregnant? In my experience as a child birth educator, all of my band patients had their fluid removed while pregnant so that their babies could get enough nutrition.
  23. Congrats you are doing awesome.
  24. You cant even see my scars and I put nothing on them. Those over the counter products really don't work and a waste of money. You would be better off going to a dermatologist and getting something if they don't go away on their own. My husband gets Kelo-Kote for his scars its expensive about 47 dollars a tube but it works and you only need a little bit.
  25. Quinoa and couscous are doable for me. They also have more protein then most pasta's do. I make black bean casserole with couscous or with Quinoa and it is delish.
