    Avoid or Alter?

    Well I can tell you from experience, sugar is my enemy. If I eat one cookie the result will be 20 Cookies. It's my trigger that I must stay away from. I know this and I cant have it period because I have no control over sweets. I do believe that people can definitely be addicted to certain foods.

    Being able to eat anything with no problem is not a sign you need a fill. I can eat anything and I don't need a fill. It's what you eat that matters.

    You have to remember the Vagus nerve runs from the stomach over the left shoulder and to the brain. It might be the pressure put on it when you get a fill. I would bring it up at your next fill appointment.

    What do you take for cramps!?

    I have been banded for four and a half years and I take Motrin daily for my arthritis and fibromyalgia. Even without the band nsaids can irritate the stomach and I refuse to live in pain. My doctor knows I take it and I take it with food or milk. Its not sitting in my pouch its going straight through. If someone has chronic pain like me they would be in trouble not taking any nsaids.

    Some people never get control of the hunger issue with the band. You just have to eat filling Proteins. Beef is best if you can eat it because it takes longer to digest.

    I have a hell of a blender (big boss) and I use a cup of milk, 1 or two scoops of Protein powder and frozen fruit I add a cup and a half. Comes out just like ice cream. I use vanilla Protein Powder. I love blueberries and pineapple the best but Walmart has a mixed fruit frozen of pineapple, mango, peach and strawberry that I love. If it doesn't get thick enough I add more fruit.
  10. I don't drink alcohol because I partied enough for everyone when I was young lol. I do drink coffee though at least three a day. Once in a while now I will have a diet soda but I shake it up to make it kind of flat. I love Water though its a good thing.

    The only question that really gripes me is why am I hungry. You are hungry because its the bodies natural response to needing food. Other then that I am good.

    Exercise for disabled?

    Swimming is one of the best exercises to do with physical limitations. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and I swim almost every day. The only limitations one has is when they think they can't do anything. I am lucky enough to live in Florida and own a pool but I am sure a ymca or some place in your area would have a pool. There really is no excuse for not getting physically active. There are many ways you can exercise without doing a lot of movement. Chair aerobics, chair dancing, yoga, Pilates I have a tape from back care and it works. You have to stop making excuses and just do it. Yes it hurts in he beginning but your muscles will get used to it.

    Giving Up your favorite foods

    The way you will not care about giving up your favorite foods is those foods have kept you in jail for most of your life. They did nothing to help you. If you truly care about yourself then let bygones be bygones and think about how much better your life will be without your favorite foods for a while. No one said you had to never eat them again but why would you want too.

    You can still live without the band and be successful. You have to weigh and measure everything you eat and learn portion sizes and only eat that. A deck of cards is the size of a 3 ounce piece of meat. Get a food scale. You can do this. Even with out bands its not easy losing weight but I have to believe if I ever lost mine I have learned enough good habits to keep the weight off. I wish you luck. Remember your earlier days of your band and how it took you to the weight you are now. You can do it if you put your mind too it.

      Good advise. In my own daily life I find actually doing what I know is right, seems to be more effective than the cognitive 'visualize' phase. Agree 'knowing where to go' is most necessary, yet have more results when I demand of myself that I actually take daily active steps on the trail to success.

      you posted this at the right time. I was visualizing success, and then I read a post about them having a blood clot and dehydration. It set me back again

      That's what I said when, at a hotel, I ate some of their delicious chocolate chip cookies.LOL. But instead of eating 6, I only ate one (in the day), a little at a time. Thank you, VSG.

      LOL....yes you do!!! I buy the skinny cow chocolates with creamy PB filling. You get 3 in a package and they are 130 cal. really good and sure to satsify that sweet tooth:-)

      Oh and while we're being honest. It is Easter and Cadberry Eggs are my absolute favorite thing in the world so....I did have 1, but atleast I didn't eat the 6pk like I used to:-)

    LOL well I have handled her every day for three years. She is tame and is good most of the time until she has to go to the vets. Then the wild child in her comes out.

    Her name is Anastasia and I have had her since she was about a week old. She was not being fed and in a crowded 20 gallon tank with about 20 other iguanas. She had a calcium deficiency that caused her to be paralyzed for the first seven months of her life I syringe fed her Gerber baby food. She is 3 years old now and a spoiled ass lizard. She once was a nice little iglet but now has become a Diva. If she doesn't like something, she throws her food all over her cage. She has been a costly investment but never the less she is my baby with igatude and all.

  22. Cancer is a disease not a comorbidity. With a 36 BMI I don't think they would approve you either. Just my guess but you have to be at least higher BMI then that.

    Reactive Hypoglycemia After Bariatric Surgery

    Yes I became hypoglycemic after surgery. Its not about eating sweets. None of us can eat enough to sustain our blood sugar levels which cause this issue. I find eating every couple of hours has solved my problem. If I don't then you can find me on the floor. I got smart really quick after the first episode and that my blood work from my doctor my blood sugar was 40 after eating a complete meal. That is another reason Protein is important to all of us.

    I too agree its medical and you need to do something before four weeks is up is you cant keep anything down. Stand your ground with your doctor and you want answers. They are getting paid to take care of you.

    You don't carb load before a work out you use Protein. If your not eating enough to sustain you then you need to talk to your nutritionist and find out whats wrong.
