The shakes i'm drinking is Nutra-Bio chocolate and vanilla. Haven tried the unflavored but need to get through those first cuz they are 5lb can!! The morning shake is fine for me because i'm usually not hungry in the mornings. The second and especially the third are what make me sick and gag........i'm sick of them and i'm hungry. I would do away with at least one of them and have something else instead but i'm afraid won't get the 60g protein a day that i'm supposed to have.

When i sat down with the nutritionist and program coordinator to get instructions (a week before surgery), i got rx's for pepsid and for lortab (pain). That way i was able to fill and take them when i got home. I didn't get anything for naussea in advance. Got something at the hospital in my IV and that was it. Bring a pillow for your ride home to put between your stomach and the seat belt. It helps cushion the area especially around bumps and potholes. good luck to you!

I did the same thing!! My sugar free jello and pudding pkgs are taped on a shelf saying don't touch. My yogurt has a tape on it as well. Over the weekend i made a large chicken soup for the family. I took about 1/4 of it and blended it with the veggies......wouldn't you know i caught my 2 daughters eating from the pot that contained MY soup!!! It's funny, i've never been this selfish with my foods and stuff, but man, if i can only have liquids for 2 whole weeks, i'm gonna get possesive over my foods!

Definately with you there. I even tried some of the recipes given on this forum and just couldn't stomach it. I can also get yogurt, cream of wheat, soup, and pudding down fine but i'm always afraid i'm not getting enough protein. My nutritionist said for the first 2 weeks after surgery, i need to have 3 protein shakes a day and ONLY if i'm hungry, i can have the other liquids mentioned above. If i can get 2 a day down without gagging it up, i'm lucky, but i'm definately hungry enough for the other foods.

Hi there. My nutritionist said i need to have at least 1% milk with the Protein shake in the morning so that the fat-soluble Vitamins are able to be used by the body. After that, i only use skim milk.

why can we only have sugar free puddings, popsicles as opposed to regular or fat free?
-
September Bandsters
I am doing the same. I add milk to cream of wheat and to soups, as well as adding yogurt to make smoothies but i'm only getting about 40-50g of protein. Can't wait to get to real food cuz the protein shakes are making me sick.

If it makes you feel better, so am i. I am trying to sip water as much as i can but am not reaching the quantity i'm supposed to have. And, i'm getting very sick of the protein shakes so i'm having soups and yogurt which are obviously not nearly what i should be getting in protein. And, i've got another week of this......what about you?

I agree! It never felt so good to give a good burp and pass gas!! Thankfully i've not been in any situation where i needed to keep it in.....LOL GasX deosn't seem to do it for me. Not sure why. Right now, i have a terrible pain under my left breast that's making it hard to breathe.

I have a 3 month prescription for pepsid that i need to take. You're not kidding about the bowel prep. My surgeon's office told me to take a dulcolax IF i hadn't had a bowel movement by 2 nights before surgery. WHile i did have one, i wanted to make sure so i took one pill..........well, let's just say.........DAMN!!

anyone know when the swelling will go down so we can wear normal clothes and not look pregnant??- September Bandsters
I agree as well. I have no idea what to expect any time i put something in my mouth (water, liquids, vitamins). With the gas pains, it's hard to decipher what is a full filling and what is actually gas. It's weird. I guess we'll be able to start feeling what restriction is supposed to feel like once we're on normal foods.- September Bandsters
I also got the bullet. Hope you find great recipes with it. Would u mind sharing some after you've tried them successfully?- September Bandsters
Yes. Protein powders have to be 25-26g of protein per 1 scoop. They want the patients to get 60g protein per day with having the 3 shakes. Which protein do you use? thanks for the advice on the unflavored...that's a great idea cuz the chocolate and vanilla are making me sick already. Just had some pudding.- September Bandsters
I am supposed to have 3 protein shakes a day and ONLY if i'm hungry, i can have soup, yogurt, and other full liquids. I've gotta tell you that i'm hungry between the meals and cant stand the protein shakes anymore. Am scared to try any of the mushies..........have my first appt on Oct 3.- September Bandsters
