Michelle Wolfe reacted to clk in The Most Important thing to me in my journey is...
To keep on working on myself. I want my inside to match my outside...whereas before surgery and goal I really felt that the outside was what needed changing. In fact, my problems started inside and the weight was just a sign of the problems in my life. I spent years being fat because I was hiding myself and didn't want/feel I deserved to have real relationships with other people. Slap on an extra 100 pounds and a mean look and people leave you alone, you know?
I have been told how pretty I am my whole life and I suppose that due to a myriad of totally screwed up experiences I tried to distract from that with ugly behavior. I want to be more grateful. I want to be happier just as I am...without feeling like I need something else to happen before I'll allow happiness into my life. I have come so far in my life and I have done an amazing job taking care of my family and being a mom to my kids...things that, quite frankly, have taken a lot of work and effort for me, because I grew up in such a terribly messed up home. If you learn how to parent and how to have relationships from your family as a child, who teaches you how to do things properly if they're completely backwards and harmful? Loving people or letting people close to me does not come naturally. Being nice, being friendly, being open, being unselfish...those things take effort though they are becoming more natural as I continue to work on them.
So for me, the most important thing is to make sure that who I am inside and how I'm feeling match the woman on the outside, who is pretty and smiling and looks like she has it together. I want kindness and forgiveness to be my first responses, not irritation or frustration. It's hard. I'm a work in progress and I want to keep working. I also want to remember that I always get to try again tomorrow. And every day I work on me, the REAL me, not just my body, it gets easier and I feel less like I'm acting or performing.
    That's got to be progress.

I sometimes find myself thinking the fat girl clothes are much cuter than the regular size clothes and get irritated. But then I remind myself of how much healthier and and better I feel. #fatgirlbraininfulleffect lol

Felt like I was going to die lol. So not ready for that yet. I usually swim laps but wanted to try something new to mix things up a bit....yeah, zumba is not it lol. I'll stick to swimming laps and the elliptical.

I see a lot of people on here that stick to a 600-800 calorie diet and others that just do low carb but don't count calories. I am a year out and having a hard time losing these last ten pounds. I am curious, people that just count calories-What do your meal plans look like in a day. For those who only count carbs-How many carbs do you allow yourself per day? Also could you tell me whether you are in maintenance or actively trying to lose. Thanks!

Just some thoughts . No need to attack . There are so many people on this forum that clearly speak there mind , which is perfectly fine. But why are some people so mean, rude and angry all the time ? So quick to jump and get in attack mode ? Smile and be happy we're all in this together !

Omg I am and was TERRIFIED! I want to eat bad foods right now! Instead I will sip Water and occupy my mind with something else. I wonder if I can keep this up forever or one day will I be able to eat a Krispy Kreme donut and decide to eat 6 of them instead?
I think because we have all FAILED at diets, i realize that i still have to do the work, this was no easy fix, just an extra tool to help....my fingers are crossed and prayers are being said!

My husnad didn't want me to do the surgery, but only because of risks. I have a bad history of complications so it was natural for this reaction. Ha also doesn't say much and I think it's because a spouse is in the " damned if I do and damned if I don't" situation. They want to encourage you, but does that mean they don't like the way you are or think you need to lose weigh in their eyes, etc? Sensitive area there!
Just recently, I told my husband Ive lost 25 lbs now and I could see the look of entrapment on his face... lol, I bailed him out and changed the subject.

    Hi DeeDee,
I think you are confronting the battle going on inside your mind, and you should be congratulated. I do not know what is preventing you from letting yourself succeed, but you are seeking help and I am so happy that you are doing that. I truly feel like fear is involved, but only you have those answers - fear of failing? fear of succeeding? fear of losing something you have now? I don't know so I don't know how to encourage you except to say I will be praying that you discover what you need to succeed. You have it in you!

I'm confused. You said she had her surgery in May but you then said she has been on a feeding tube for two years? When exactly did she have the surgery?

Nope, I am 5'2 and was 207 at the time of surgery. I am now in a healthy weight range and I know I couldn't have done it and been successful without this surgery. I am not quite at goal yet, but honestly I would be happy if I didn't lose another pound. I haven't been the weight I am now since junior high! I am glad I did the surgery when I did because that just means I had less weight to lose than if I had waited longer and let my BMI go up more.

You're looking great! Don't let your surgeon get you down, you are still very early in your journey. Keep in mind that everyone loses at different rates! As long as you are sticking to whatever plan your surgeon recommends, the weight will come off eventually! I am almost a year out and still losing, it just takes time.

I'm 3.5 weeks out and pretty much had gotten used to the odd feelings associated with eating. However, I just ate some tilapia and mashed potatoes and not one twinge, gurgle or anything! I assumed I'd have the discomfort for a while when I eat and drink. It feels good to feel normal!

I am not going to be rude and make you feel worse about the situation as I feel some others have done. People make mistakes. I just wanted to suggest not only finding a therapist, but one who specializes in treating bariatric surgery patients. My therapist had RNY so she knows what I'm going through for the most part. It has been tremendously helpful! Best of luck to you and remember that tomorrow is a new day, and a new chance to get back on track!

We are healed by the stripes of JESUS CHRIST; Jesus has over come sickness and everything else for us on the cross. Now Sis, just as God granted you the ability to beat obesity, the BLOOD of JESUS will help you beat atherosclerosis; confession of the word over our situation and circumstances gives us peace and grant us healing. I am praying for you sister and believing in the name of Jesus you are healed. Speak life in your situation because God has giving us the ability to do that, according to His word, there is power of life and death in the our tongue, you already know this sisJ, SPEAK LIFE.
We as believer has to go through trails and tribulations but the word of God tells us to be of good cheer Jesus have over come those things. Don’t give the enemy any room to still the peace and joy God has given you.
