  1. I am so grateful for this posted topic! It hadn't even occurred to me not to tell anyone (shows what a blabber mouth I am, he he), my entire immediate family, Mom, sisters, aunts, nieces, etc. know. But I've been struggling with how to tell my bosses (who happen to be pediatricians). I know they're going to have their opinions and pros / cons, etc. After reading this topic, I realized that I'm taking the time off as vacation, which I'm entitled to do and they don't need to know any other details. There's one particular girl at work who has been dieting for 2 straight years and now claiming she has all different types of ailments thyroid, gallbladder, etc. that are preventing her from losing her last 20 - 30 lbs. She reviews and judges everyone's meal at the lunch table and calls people out if they've been dieting and slip...she's very rude. I am now especially happy to NOT include her in on what will now be "my little secret" at work. Thanks for the idea...what a concept...keeping my mouth shut (might be why I'm overweight too, ha ha).
  2. Congratulations! Very excited for you...living this process through others as time inches by.
  3. I eat, sleep, breath, and think about VSG all of the time! I'm in the 5th month of 6 months of hoop jumping for insurance. My last appt is August 25th. After insurance approves, I have 4 weeks of pre-op meetings & tests. So I've given up on a birthday (10/8) sleeve but hoping & praying for a birthmonth (October) sleeve. Glad to know I'm not alone in this crazy insurance waiting game! My biggest fear is that insurance will deny, then what?
  4. Hope you're doing well, I can't wait to hear about your experience. I'm living through all of you post op sleevers!
  5. Congratulations! Keep us posted, I'm living through everyone else until I get approved.
  6. Definitely keep the positive attitude. Prayers going up!
  7. This was my comment on another post, I mean it enough to copy & paste it! Good luck to all of you having your surgery this week... I'm so green with envy! I'm on hoop 5 of 6 that I have to jump through for insurance, ahem, oops I meant month 5 of 6 physician supervised visits, ha ha ha. Can't wait to get my date & the excitement that comes the night before that I'm sure you're all experiencing. Can't wait even more for the wonderful life that awaits after. Keep us posted we're living this experience through your words for the next few weeks.

  9. Thanks everyone for your responses! @ Leahg -- I think that's a great idea to do half days, I'm pretty sure they'll approve it if it means getting paid on $payday$ or not, lol That's my biggest concern. I do a lot of computer work so I technically could do some from home if I needed to, but really want to allow myself to heal and rest. @ Jennilee, I too think I would have a lot of support from my co-workers, they just don't know about my surgery yet. Since I work in a pediatric office, I just know they'll all (including the physicians) have a lot of "medical advice or pros & cons" that I'm not really interested in prior to surgery. When I do return, I'll tell them what I had done (too late to try to talk me out of it) and I know they'll be supportive & help me if they can.
  10. I manage an office of 40 employees and I'm responsible for payroll & day to day operations. Not a lot of activity, just office work. I've heard different stories about returning to work, some as early as 5 days post surgery. I'm getting closer & I'm planning my time off for the surgery (not yet scheduled), I've allowed for 2 full weeks, but what are the chances I'll be able to return sooner?
