Thank you for telling me this. You are right. I really appreciate you telling me this. I sure was not trying to minimize her huge weight loss achievement. Sorry if it sounded that way.

Starting at a weight 100lbs higher than what I started at makes a significant difference in weight loss, and the reality of how much a person can loose.

I do not know my BMI when I had my weight loss surgery. I only have my starting weight before my surgery which was about around 270lbs. (I've weighted more that 270lbs a time or two) After the pre-op diet, I weighed in at 242lbs right before my sleeve.

I have continued to be successful because of my green leafy plant and fruit way of eating, (I do eat some meats) which I know is not popular among the WLS community, however it works for me. I no longer have to struggle.

Maybe if one thing does not work, trying something a little different may help others who may be struggling. That is all I was trying to say:-)

S@@Sweet Pee thank you for sharing. I do think it is relevant to mention your starting BMI or weight because the hard cold reality is that it makes a difference. Not to minimize ANYONE'S achievements but for those of that started super morbidly obese or high BMI...our realities are a bit different.Having said that. I was 52 BMI..and my lifetime high was even bigger and I love how I turned out...so there is hope for all of us!

  2. I am 4 years out and my currently weight is 129lbs. I am able to maintain my goal weight because I stick closely to eating tons of green vegetables, fruits, nuts and Beans along with a bit of occasional meat. (Geeen food offers plenty of protein) Otherwise, I look at food and gain weight.

I follow Dr. Matthew Weiner the author of, "A Pound of Cure." He is also a baratric surgeon with informative YouTube videos. (Great Book) I encourage you to read it cover to cover.

Dr. Joel Furhman is another doctor that I have followed, even before my WLS. Great website. Wonderful books. Helps me stay on track.

Joe Cross introduced me to juicing. I juice daily. Fresh green juice resets the body and helps with hunger, craving and weigh loss. "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" can be watched for free. Do a quick search on the internet.

    Drink lots of Water.

There may be something else going on medically, so I encourage you to see your doctor.

  3. I ran a 15K nine months after my lower body lift and breast lift. It took a lot of training, but I was able to do it.

Just listen to your body. There is a lot of inside healing going on inside your body. Healing requires energy, which takes away from the stamina/energy which you need to run as you were accustomed to.

Try to give it a little more time and be patient with your body. You will get there.

    Happy running,

What are some foods that hurt your pouch if you do not mind me asking?

Try "Forks over Knives." They have a beautiful app with wonderful recipes that will help you achieve vegetarian goals.

You can also look up "Dr. Joel Furhman recipies."

    "The Engine 2 Diet"

My name is Briana and I'm new here. I've been having some hard time coming up with vegetarian recipes that don't hurt my pouch. I had roux en y on March 16,2015

  5.

Husband is having surgery with Dr. Maytorena on July 2nd and is looking for anyone else having surgery on that day at Long Term VSG.

Hy are you part of the new Facebook group for Dr Maytorena? The doctor and assistant is there. I havent had surgery as of yet in research mode and a tad nervous

He went on the Facebook page, but no, he is not part of their Facebook group.

    Thanks for the information.

  6. I had so many consultations in the States before I chose my current plastic surgeon. At the time, they told me they could do a Tummy Tuck and a breast lift at the same time.

However, those are just the surgeons I interviewed. I guess it is going to depend on the surgeon. Some have two surgeons working together, which speeds up the process and they can do more surgical work in a shorter amount of time. Others work alone.

In child birth, when I had to have a C-section , I was fully awake and remember every moment. I felt the doctor tugging and felt it when she pulled my precious baby out. I also felt when I was being sewn up, and had a nice long conversation with my doctor when she was working. I wish I could have witnessed it my self instead of that big blue sheet covering up everything :-).

With Twilight, I only remember bits and pieces and was asleep for the most part, (I Think:). It was nice waking up knowing everything was going ok with the surgery, then falling back to sleep again.

  7. Twilight sedation is the best!

Last year during my thigh and arm lift surgery, I woke up a few times talking to my anesthesiologist and taping my finger with the 'red thingy' on it to the beat. Yes, the doctor had some really good music playing.

I remember asking the anesthesiologist if he would take some pictures of me. I brought my camera into the operating room. He took several pictures. Very nice memories.

    I saw the doctor working, but I did not want to disturb him;

    he looked busy :-) :-)

Next thing I know, the surgery is over, and I feel refreshed and well rested.

  8. I understood that breast implants do not have a lifetime warranty. Surgery is required again after so many years of use, therefore I chose not to get implants. My push-up bra works wonders when I want my girls to sit under my chin. Otherwise, I love them. They may not work for everybody, but they are just right for me.

I was not striving for perfection. That is not what plastic surgery means. For me, it meant improvement, satisfaction and a measure of happiness which is fulfilled from a self-esteem boost looking at the reflection of a better looking body. The rest must come from continuos work on the inside of myself, because the outside changes will only provide temporary satisfaction and happiness.

My breast are important to me. I breast fed four children. It was my turn to enjoy them, right? I wanted them to be beautiful. I try to keep them beautiful too.

I wear a tight sports bra, because of my thin skin and I do not want these girls dropping to the floor again, so I use plenty support. They are just right for me.

Do not get me wrong, sometimes I do wish I had implants, and the way they could change the way I look, but then I think about what is going to happen when I am 65 years old and living off my pension$

My scars for the most part has blended in even more with my skin tone. My camera is on the brink, but I will see what I can do.
