  1. You are definitely in the right place to find the support and information you need on the VSG surgery. I hope you are never afraid to ask questions and that you can find a place to really feel comfortable. Welcome to the forum! There is always someone on here at whatever stage you are at.
  2. That's awesome! Congrats! By that time you will be 3 months out from surgery, you will probably be on solid foods by then, so that should be fine.
  3. @NewMe86: Not really, maybe more of a last drink or two or three... or every weekend until August, lol. I've been kind of saying good by to alcohol. It is kind of hard to be a college student and not drink, so I am kind of getting my last hoorah out of the way or at least until six months after surgery. I've been low carbing it since May, and I can say I think I am okay with food for now, but I am definitely coming to realize I am saying goodbye to a lifestyle now too. I definitely won't be the quintessential college student anymore.
  4. Wow, it seems so many of us are starting to get ready for September! I am so excited for us. Who is doing a pre-op diet? And when are you starting?
  5. Wow, that is just amazing. Congrats on just blowing the weight away!

I really think this is one of my favorite SV. Congrats!
  7. Looking great! I am amazed by your arms and tummy. They look so good!
  8. Wow, that is crazy. I am sorry that bacteria gave you such trouble. I am glad you are doing better. Please take care. Congrats on getting such a memorable date! I hope you have an awesome birthday!
  9. Try zucchini noodles. They are a great substitute to legit Pasta and taste delish! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/23/health/22recipehealth.html
  10. It will get here. I promise you. I feel the same way almost every day, but you know what? The ticker keeps moving each day, and I have little goals that keep my time line moving. In 10 days, I submit to insurance. In 25 days, I move to my new apartment. In 28 days, I start my new university. In 38, I have surgery. It will happen!
  11. That's awesome. I can't even remember the last time I saw a teen in my weight.
  12. To make the shakes you have more palatable try adding some sugar free syrups like Torani or DaVinci.
  13. You have done so amazingly well. Keep it up!
  14. That's freaking awesome! Work it, lady!
  15. That's awesome. I can't even imagine seeing a one in front of weight at this point, let alone being in the 160s. Congrats!
  16. School loans are for covering expenses related to school, such as living expenses, food, clothing, books, you name it the loan will cover it to help the student go to school. The schools in Florida do not normally monitor what the student uses the money on as long as they are taking the amount classes they are supposed to. And can you not tell me there are not hundreds if not thousands of students who blow through their loans on on beer and cars? For some this surgery is a medical necessity and the student loans also cover those miscellaneous expenses. The student still has to pay back the loan, just they don't have to until their schooling is complete. Also a side note: most of the time now schools will directly deposit the money into your account for you to use as you wish. P.S. My use for a loan later down the road might be a little frivolous, but this surgery is not.
  17. Ooh, I am definitely in for picking out a name for us! It will be a great September I think.
  18. I love the attitude! I think everyone on here experiences some fear and self-doubt. We all have failed multiple times in losing this weight, but what amazes is me that we keep getting up and trying again. "Fall down seven times, stand up eight." You can do this. Good luck on your journey!
  19. That's awesome. I was initially the same way until my bariatric nurse at UHC recommended the sleeve to me and told me the exact same thing about the band. Revisions keep becoming more and more common, and as I did research.... I realized this was a surgery I could live the rest of my life with. Good luck on your journey!
  20. I am so sorry this whole 6MSWL is causing you so much strife and worry. This is why I hate the six months. It has the benefit of giving you time to find out more about the surgery and what life will entail afterward, but it also makes me think it is set up for our eventual failure. Studies have shown the six months even three months does nothing to help the patient. It all about the insurance weeding process. I will be keeping you in my thoughts, please take care.
  21. That's awesome! Congrats!
  22. Congrats! That is such an amazing accomplishment.
  23. Ah, I am so happy for you! I want to lose the thunder thighs and bat wings sooooo bad!
  24. Does your multivitamin also have calcium? If it does, you pretty much aren't getting any of that iron. Iron and calcium bind to the same receptors in the body. Calcium is a lot bigger than little old iron, so it pushes it out of the way. You might need to start taking them two hours apart so that the iron can properly bind. Also just a side note, vitamin c improves the absorption of iron.
