The surgeon I finally got referred to see said I had a million dollar work up! I am still waiting to hear what my insurance company's decision is.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I had my band placed in 2004 and just discovered, after a ton of tests, that it has definitely slipped and needs to be removed. I am so grateful for the weight I have kept off, but the nausea, reflux and pain will not be missed. I'm currently waiting for a response from my insurance company to see what they cover.

I lost 100lbs with the band (I got mine 12/2004), but I do wish I'd done more research on the band, and the different types. I didn't realize the band fail rate was as high as it was several years post-op. I'm actually looking at having it removed and getting a RNY bypass done.

I'm actually getting an upper endoscopy in a couple of weeks to check and see what's going on with mine. How did you/your doctor discover yours was eroded? How long have you had your band?
