  1. Not banded yet, but according to this calculation, I have 4 of my 16 pound cat, Gravity, to lose. She is a big girl; I call her my cast Iron cat. lol. She is completely black and I swear she can increase her weight at will (like every time I have to pick her up to move her out of the way). I have been thinking about a way to keep track of my weight loss that will add some additional meaning. I know I made my screen name, MeFirstFinally, but I still fee selfish. I am thinking about donating a pound of food to the food bank for every one I lose or food to the animal shelter. Any other ideas. Robbie
  2. My name is Roberta, too . I will be cheering for you and my namesake. I am not banded yet, but I have been thinking about names. Keep up the good work. Robbie
  3. Adding my thank you for your service as well as your husband's. I know you don't want to send him pictures of yourself, but how about increasing his anticipation by sending him an occassional (sp?) picture of a piece of clothing which is now too big for you? Just a thought. Robbie :camera:
  4. I am not banded yet, but from what I have read on this board, you need to call your doctor, you need to stop trying to eat because that may make it worse. Someone with real band experience could tell you more. Good luck. Robbie
  5. Hi all. Sorry I have been MIA. The good news is I have my computer/work out room back. Jacob passed his summer school Algebra II with an 87, which tells me he could have passed the class if he had tried. I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill and got in all of my Water, but didn't pay attention to the Protein intake. I have no memory these days so I don't even remember what I ate (not good). Getting back on track first thing in the morning. Robbie
  6. Good for you. It sounds like a wonderful Christmas present. A gift from you to you. Robbie
  7. Are you getting enough Water? Dehydration will cause muscle cramps. Robbie
  8. Congratulations. Keep on keeping on; isn't it amazing how much color comes back into our lives as we lose weight? Robbie :Banane11:
  9. Melissa, In another forum, there was a thread about not being able to eat wearing a bra. I don't remember that the posters reached a conclusion about why this would happen. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/131164-cant-eat-with-bra-on/ Robbie
  10. The pharmacist at my Dad's VA center was very helpful when he had troubling swallowing towards the end, telling us what could be crushed or cut without risk. Bigger pills could also be taken with pudding or yogurt to help them slide down, but Dad didn't have a band to navigate, so I don't know if that would help you. He ran away at 16 to join the Marines, so he could support his mother and siblings. Ended up in China in 1944, but never talked about it. I haven't been banded yet, so I don't have anything more to offer but encouragement. This forum is very good place to find answers. Best of luck to you.:patriot: Robbie
  11. I hate to burst your bubble, but you do lose weight in your feet as well!! You will have to shop for shoes also. Double the fun Robbie
  12. Are you doing okay? Did you have to have an unfill before the surgery? Let us know how you are. Robbie
  13. I don't know about you, but I need to stop multi-tasking when I eat...no newspapers, no computer, no novels, no household tasks. I cannot remember the last time I concentrated all of my attention on eating a meal. From what I understand about being banded, concentration is required until the new habits of small bites and chew, chew, chew and chew some more become habits. Congratulations on being pro-active in this process. I am sure you are going to do well. Robbie
  14. I appreciate the good thoughts and I have calmed down a lot since I posted this, but I am 56 and I don't think any improvement in my health should turn back the clock quite this much. Since my original post I have talked to a number of other post menopausal women who have had unexpected restarts of their cycle. I had hoped I was done with "monthly supplies." I am impressed with the promptness of the new insurance company's response to my concern. I have my appointment with my new PCP to discuss banding on August 24. Wish me luck.
  15. Hello all, I am not yet banded. but have a tentative approval provided I meet insurance standards. I have been trying to eat healthier and exercise. Could that restart my cycle after a two year cessation? I started bleeding yesterday, so I immediately jumped on the internet and scared myself I have an appt. Friday with my new doctr's office with their cnm (certified nurse midwife). Mountain out of molehill, I hope. Needed to write it out, somehow still scared.:Banane37: Thanks for listening Robbie
  16. Forgot my 82 grams of Protein yesterday. No treadmill today-still fighting weird ankle injury 73 g protein cut out some turkey 64 oz. Water Jacob is waiting to get on computer; have to fly. See you all tomorrow
  17. A little better today. I moved the candy dish to the other side of the office 1 sausage patty Lg. Mango pineapple Smoothie 5 slices Oscar mayer deli turkey Pecans 2 oz. Fage greek yogurt with blueberries Bean Soup Fresh fruit salad 72 oz. Water No treadmill; Jacob didn't finish on the computer until 9:30. Not going to sweat with an 18 year old male audience...blood or not. See you all in the morning Robbie
  18. Good for you. Keep it up and continue to inspire us newbies. Robbie :bananalama:
  19. Forgot to add 35 minutes on the treadmill. to sort of make up for the tootsie rolls Robbie :cheated:
  20. Sorry I missed yesterday. My nephew has been sentenced to summer school and I am the only member of the family not still using dial up LOL. Since it has to be completed by August 4 or he doesn't get his diploma, guess who left it until this week and is not spening 12 hours a day on my computer. Sunday' Banana Orange juice Bean Soup Fruit salad 1/2 Wendy's berry Almond Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette (sp?) Fage 2% greek yogurt with blueberries 1/4 raw carrots 70 oz water Protein 52 grams Monday 2 sausage patties Mango pineapple smoothie 1/2 chili with Beans Pecans 2 oz. Bean soup Fage 2 % greek yogurt with blueberries 6 mini tootsie rolls ( I am weak ) 64 oz water Protein 81 grams Robbie
  21. I have developed the weirdest pain in my ankle just below the main bone and above the arch. Periodically, for no reason I recognize, I get this sharp pain. It most resembles when you whack the very un-funny bone in your elbow. Last for a few moments of agony and goes away. But I haven't whacked my ankle, and I was wondering about stress fractures, since I sometimes (well usually) try to do too much too soon where excercise is concerned. I guess I am trying to make up for all of the time I haven't spent on the treadmill in the last ten years. Any thoughts? Robbie (and why does spell check keep eating my posts so I have to start over; asking forgiveness for any spelling errors)
  22. 2 sausage patties 2 eggs 1 banana 4 oz orange juice 1 small side salad with fat free ginger dressing topppings from sauasage pepperoni extra cheese pizza (2 slices) I have to get the counts, but just looking at it, I would say that I have a fat tooth in addition to my sweet tooth. I made a signature. i hope it works. robbie Protein 72 g/ Water 60 oz, but I should have the rest in by bedtime (4 oz). 30 minutes on treadmill
  23. Spell check ate my post. Weird I called the new insurance, Kaiser Permanente, WLS including the band, is covered with a 10% co insurance. They have a contract with a specific hospital which is at least an hour away. It is a center of excellence so I can live with that distance. I called and it wasn't bad news. I am amazed. Thanks for all of the support and good wishes. Robbie
  24. I am so sorry you are going through this; it must be scary. Do you have a fever, swollen glands or joint pain, headache or joint pain? I agree with Shirley, your symptoms are alarming enough (to me at least) for immediate intervention. Get thee to an E.R. Take care and let us know how you are. Robbie
  25. Count me in; I have been giving up candy everyday for a month, maybe this will help me actually do it. LOL What is our accountability? Do we check in periodically or is it the honor system. I don't have much honor when it comes to candy. Robbie
