  1. I love your new picture. You are one of my weight loss inspirations. Every time I look your ticker is down .5 pounds. It is so obvious how hard you have worked. Congratulations. Robbie Apparently you cannot edit subject line. Rachel412, I apologize for my dyslexic post and mangling your name. Sentiments still apply.
  2. Hello, Still doing research. Both the hospitals close to me are Centers of Excellence, but there are only 3 doctors in the whole county with a certification by the Association of Bariactric Surgeons. Does this certification make a difference? According to their website, the level of certification indicates how many surgeries the doctor has performed. No one has mentioned this certification in the posts I have read. Thanks Robbie
  3. Thanks for all of the advice. I think I have been afraid to call because I learned early on not to want anything too badly. Another example of things learned in childhood that are hurting me now; I am applying the attitude of a five year old to the needs of a fifty six year old adult. I had to smile when I read that...time to grow up. I will call tomorrow. I think I am going to hanging out on this forum a lot. It is helping me see myself more clearly. Robbie (still working on the signature)
  4. For Me the problem isn't that I only have 50 pounds to lose or that I cannot take it off (the old fashioned way), it is that in two years it will all come back plus some. Since I already have high blood pressure and cholesterol, diabetes and sleep apnea, I will only be two years older and probably in worse shape. I have been dieting unsuccessfully since puberty when our family doctor convinced me and my mother that 125 pounds was too heavy for my five foot frame, and the scales have been going up and down ever since until I hit 220 and was diagnosed diabetic. I think I need the added control and permanence of the band. Robbie
  5. Petrified. I too have failed again and again at weight control, and I have a strong streak of perfectionism. If I don't get something exactly right (and who does all the time), I will walk away, ensuring failure. Robbie (I haven't figured out how to make a signature yet)
  6. My work just changed insurance. Our previous insurance specifically prohibited WLS and any complications resulting from same. We now have new insurance and I find myself afraid to call. I am not normally a denial kind of person...if I don't hear/see it isn't real. I am just worried that if I hear that nothing is changes, I will give up. I have finally decided to take some control and I dont know if I will stick to it if the insurance won't help. The idea of saving $10,000 plus dollars is very daunting.
  7. I originally posted as RobbieNow, but my registration has had to be reset 3 times for some reason. If I was paranoid, which I am , I would say evil forces are trying to keep me out of this forum. Acadia--My treadmill does rock, I will get a piece of plywood and shim it. I wonder who decide that 3mph is a brisk walk? I am 5 feet tall; it is a flat out run for me. lol Thanks for all of the supportive messages. I am trying to work up the courage to call our new insurance company. I don't wnt to be disappointed again, but I can't plan for the future without the facts. I have just let life happen too many times, instead of directing it. Wish me luck.
