Dulci got a reaction from amponder in Considering Malpractice Suit, Lap Band Eroded ....thoughts ?
Malpractice laws vary greatly by state. Most malpractice attorneys take cases on a contingency basis. If I were in your situation, I would obtain a complete copy of my medical record from your original surgeon and a copy of the records from current doctor. After I had them, I would scan them to a CD and starting calling med mal attorneys.
If an attorney thinks that your case has any value, they will review your medical records or have them reviewed by a doctor or nurse. Having the records in your hands can save you a lot of time, waiting and frustration.

Dulci got a reaction from Splickety1125 in Last Meal Syndrome
The night before I started my liquid diet, I ordered pepperoni, sausage and black olive pizzas for dinner. I intended that meal to be my farewell to pizza and I ate almost an entire medium sized pizza myself.
I am six months past my surgery date and nearly 50 lbs lighter. Tonight for dinner, I ordered that same pizza and I savored every delicious bite. However, tonight I was satisified after I almost finished a single slice.
I am in the "green" zone and there is nothing that I cannot eat.

    1. Parking on the top floor of the parking garage on purpose and taking the stairs by choice. Some mornings I used to use my DH's disabled parking pass because my knees hurt too badly to walk.
    2. Folding clothes. I keep thinking that my shirts shrank in the dryer because they are so small. I slip them on, and they fit! *I* wear a size small.
    3. Seeing my PCP. Last time, she told me to check in with her next year, unless I have something pop-up sooner. No more quarterly visits for med refills.
    4. Going to the beach.
    5. Looking in the mirror.

Dulci got a reaction from PdxMan in Confused on what surgery to have
I have come to believe that no matter which WLS one chooses, most of the change has be done in the mind. If the patient is ready, willing and able to make changes, they will succeed. If the patient thinks that the band, sleeve or bypass is going to do the work and they will passively watch the weight melt away; they will fail.
If I ever have to lose my band, I will revise to a sleeve, if I can.

Dulci got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Wth did i do this for?
It sounds like you are eating too fast, too big bites, or not chewing enough. The horrible feeling in your chest is what happens to me when food is not moving through the pouch. My nutritionist recommended bites approximately the size of the nail on your pinky finger, chew until the food is mush, then swallow.
I hope you are happy and successful with your band!

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but it's honest.
If I were in your situation, I wouldn't go through with the surgery at all unless I had a definite way to get the aftercare necessary. Doctor visits and multiple fills aren't optional- they're mandatory. Being compliant with post op follow ups and doctor's instruction is crucial to be successful with the band. This is especially true in the first couple months after surgery. It's pointless to put yourself through surgery if you don't have a definite way to pay for the necessary care after.
Good luck. I truly hope you find a way to make it work.

I had my gallbladder out one year exactly from when I had my band placed. My surgery was similar to the band - 4 tiny incisions.

Come here to vent as much as you need to. When I was doing my post op diet, I actually sucked the salt from some pretzels, then spit them in a napkin and tossed them out. It was not one of my proudest moments.
