  1. @ MommySleeve, I hope they do because if I do have to go in, I'll probably have no one to go with me.
  2. ...with Hurricane Sandy on its way...Yikes! I received my phone call on Friday to be at the hospital on Monday at 8:30am. However, there's still a possibility that it will be postponed. I've been on my 2-week liquid diet, doing good with that. I am eager to have the surgery but I do not live close to the hospital and it would be a challenge (especially for my family) if the weather gets too bad. I'm hoping for the best. I'm having my surgery in a hospital located in a low lying area which the mayor actually closed last year because of hurticane Irene.
  3. Thanks. I was called in to show up on Mon. 8:30 am and hopefully it won't be cancelled because of the storm. If I don't get a call by Sunday. I'm good to go.
  4. Thank you all for your replies. Your advice is helpful and the support means a lot.
  5. Went to my PCP today for the final paperwork stage, my medical clearance. It's done! I'm down 8 pounds since the start of my liquid diet which was last Monday, the 15th. I'm excited! Little nervous about the anesthesia because I did take a little longer to be up after a previous surgery I had. I did tell the doctor and anesthesiologist about so hopefully it'll all go smoothly this time.
  6. I'm on Day 6 of my pre-op liquid diet. I am feeling fatigue more easily. Hunger is not The issue I'm okay so far cravings not too bad and I feel satisfied after The protein drinks espevially, but I feel weighed down and just tired. Is it normal? I'm thinking yes because of The liquid diet my body is reacting to The change. Any thoughts?
  7. Congrats & Best of Luck! Mine is The 29th. I'm excited too!
  8. I guess having pre-surgical testing today made everything seem so real. It's hard to explain but I think my nerves are kicking in. I wonder, can I really do this? I know I will try my very best but for example I'm on day 4 of my 2 week pre op liquid diet and I'm feeling easily fatigued. I don't have anyone who can accompany me in the hospital during my stay and with this surgery I would have appreciated it. I've lost 5 pounds in 4 days. I will have my family be there for the surgery and when I get discharged.
  9. Hi, If anyone would like to keep in touch with me for moral support. I am basically on my own here. I am a single mother of a teenager and also living and caring for my elderly father. I don't have many people to help me. I have good friends that are supportive but few can really relate to what this surgery means to me. I will have my surgery on October 29th. I am on my third day of my liquid diet. So far so good. I am using Fitness Pal to keep track of calories, Protein, and fat each day. I have been a bit hungry, especially when I smell food or see something on tv or in a magazine. The shakes help fill me up at least for a while. I don't like the bitter aftertaste though. I remember reading somewhere what I need to take to the hospital with me. I can't find it now. Can anyone give me an idea of the most important things I'll need to pack? The doctor expects me to be discharged on the 31st in the morning. I hope so because there will be chaos in my home without me. LOL I am a little nervous but very excited. My goal is to lose about 95-100 pounds. Anyone who'd like to talk, I'm here! Maribel
  10. Thanks, I'm excited! Dr. Christine Ren-Fielding is performing my surgery at NYU. My surgery will be on Oct. 29th. Congrats on your sleeve. How are you doing?
  11. I have the muscle milk ready, lol! I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for this now. It'll be a day by day thing I guess. Tonight my dinner will be some Mac & Cheese which I haven't had in ages, and a small cup of rice pudding. Then, bye bye food
  12. I'm still waiting for my surgery date. Medicare has yet to pre-authorize my surgery. I'm in NY. Anyway I've slacked off and when I last visited my surgeon I had regained the few pounds I managed to lose. I want to start getting back on track. I want to start using Fitness Pal and Fitbit again. It cam take at least a couple of months more before I actually get a surgery date but I am wondering if you all think it would be a good idea to start my gym membership now so I can Start with cardio and hopefully toning. I have flab in my belly and I am afraid of the additional flab after surgery so I want to do something to it. I'm 38. I probably won't be able to afford excess skin removal surgery and not sure if my insurance would cover it anyway. So...what do you guys think? Start exercising? Yes or no? How long would I have to stop post surgery?
  13. Yeah, here in NY we are still waiting for preauthorization.
  14. Well, turns out Medicare has still not made final decision. I have to wait at least a couple of months to have it. All my paperwork is in, I'm ready to go but the wait is killing me!
  15. Who else is in NY waiting on Medicare to presuthorize? I was all happy because I'd heard that Medicare eas approving in NY on a case by case basis. While I know I am a good candidate for this surgery and have.a goid chance of being approved the not knowing for sure if &when it will be pre-authorized has me feeling a bit frustrated. I will see the surgeon on Friday. I have all my paperwork in since last month. One document I needed is ready to hand in when I see her Friday. So in all it's been over a 7 month wait of this process. I'm so ready to have it done.
