The 1st Day Of My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey
Thank you for reminding me to do this! Great post.

started pre op diet
My surgeon will be Dr. Marema in St. Augustine, Fl. He is a surgeon of Excellence and he is a patient himself. He had the bypass years ago. For the record, I would fire him too if he asked me to start a liquid diet before insurance approval or surgery date.

started pre op diet
Wow, sorry in advance for not mincing words, but this is crazy. I would not do it. In fact I would get another surgeon.

who did you tell?
If you search "to tell or not to tell" (and other variations) on this site, you will see a ton of responses. We don't all agree and that is ok. I have not had surgery yet and I have told only people that love me and want the best for me. Not all have agreed and we have dealt with it. After surgery I will tell whoever asks. Thanks to a friend that decided to tell me about it when I asked her, I will beat obesity and hopefully live longer. I would like to pay it forward.

The 1st Day Of My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey
Give Bariatric Advantage a ring or send them an email. Sorry it tastes so bad. I just went to GNC for the first time and bought a small package to taste. I usually dislike this kind of stuff. ugh! We can do this though, I'm right behind you.

Dr. Marema
Hi there! I live in Jax. I did decide to go with Dr. Marema. I am a volume eater and I am sick and tired of being hungry, so 1 pound a week is my goal. I lost 4 pounds the first month but not doing too good this month. My appointment is on the 17th so I need to buckle down. I am using myfitnesspal.com. Check it out. When I plugged in that I wanted to lose 1 pound a week, the daily calories are not bad at all. My problem are the food funerals I am having. How long is your DSWL? Mine is 3 months. I am hoping to have surgery next month. You? Best wishes to you too!

Type 2 Diabetes
Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! My grandfather, dad & aunt all died young due to diabetes. One uncle just lost a toe, my brother was recently diagnosed and I found out this week I am pre-diabetic! Granted, my aunt was thin as a rail, so I might still get it, but I don't want to have obesity complicating matters even further. One thing is worrying me though. For some reason, there are surgeons, including mine, that believe gastric bypass is better for diabetics. I don't want the bypass regardless, but now that I am pre-diabetic, I can't stop thinking about it. I see people here all the time that there diabetes goes into remission, so I don't know why some/many surgeons think this way. Best wishes!

The "What's Your Goal Weight?" Question is Really
I loved your response, but it is not making you happy, so I would pick another one. I have been using self-deprecating humor all my freaking life and I want to stop after surgery, because like you said "it is not fair!". Why not smile and say " I don't know yet" or " I will know when I get there", or " when I get as thin as you" and stick your tongue out. LOL Just kidding. Whatever suits your personality. I am 5'4" as well and I think your goal is within "the charts". You are braver than me though. I will shoot for 140, so I can fluctuate 5 pounds. I was even thinking 150. lol. I hope to have surgery next month. We will know when we get there.
