Got a date :)...with a HUGE if :( !!
Hmmmm I would be looking for a surgeon of excellence in my area first thing in the morning and having surgery before December 1st! At a minimum consider calling your insurance and see if you get a straight answer. I would still not trust it though. Good luck!!!!!

Plateau for almost 2 months (again!)
I haven't had surgery yet but wanted to let you know many of us would do this on Weight Watchers and it worked. Something about "keeping the body guessing" and "energizing the metabolism". lol Not sure why, but it worked. You look great though. Don't fret too much.

Surgery 11/9 & afraid of being rejected due to pre op weight loss
Yep, I am a little worried too. I have gained most of the 8 pounds I lost on my 2 month physician supervised diet. Food funerals have been fun and I don't regret them but I'm wondering what my surgeon will say. I did not have to do a pre-op diet and wasn't asked to lose any weight but I am sure gaining doesn't look good. I will know on Thursday. Meanwhile I am having shakes for dinner and drinking tons of water. Good luck to all of you!

Some wonderful people!
My surgeon and his team are great, but there is no way they could have taught me everything I have learned here. I feel prepared and that is priceless while I go through this important time in my life. I thank every single person that posts. You all contribute greatly to keep this place alive, informative and exciting. Some of you get a thanks AND a hug for being here constantly, for cheering us on and for the occasional tough love. I appreciate it all. Thanks!!! :grouphug:

Lactose Intolerance
Have you tried Lactaid brand milk? It is lactose free. They just came out with a yogurt as well, but I will ask my dietician her opinion, because it has half the protein than Greek yogurt. Walmart and lots of other places carry them. Like I mentioned before there are some cheeses that are naturally lactose free. Cabot brand is one example. Best wishes finding things you like! I am on the hunt myself.

What to tell your young kids
I will also tell my 9 year old the truth. I will be brief and focus on health & mention the surgery is only 35 minutes or so etc. I will talk a little about the recovery as well and who she will be with the night I am in the hospital . Lastly, I have decided to tell her the afternoon before surgery ( next Tuesday) . That will give her time to ask me questions and not worry for long. Aaah since I have "only" told family & close friends, , I will also tell her it is private and even though I am proud of it, I will tell anyone that asks after surgery. ( I don't want her telling every kid in school! Lol)

two months!!! whoop whoop
Wow, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! How much did you lose before surgery?
-
I finally got "APPROVED"
:whoo: Congratulations!!!!!!!!

doctor
"Specials" make me shudder. In any event, I suggest you open a new thread and ask that question. . Having said that, please don't pick someone based on price or the opinion of strangers on this website alone. Research, research , research. Best of luck!

Whip out your crystal balls please!
Would this be a problem? Germany might be one of the 2 countries we pick. I don't eat "hot" foods, but sometimes mild or medium. Too harsh for a new tummy? @ everyone : Thanks for your well wishes!!!!!! It will be something very nice to look forward to.

Banana Babes
Yes I have. Is the shake whey ISOLATE? . That is the one I have to have because I am lactose intolerant. That is the only thing I can think of. Try doing a search on this site as well. (At GNC they allow you to return opened packages if you don't like them. ) Actually also consider Isopure bottled premixed "juicy" drinks. They are not milky and thick. They are watery like juice. Keep us updated! @ Brandy, congratulations and the best of luck tomorrow! We have similar stats, I will be checking your progress! Come back to see us when you feel up to it.

How open were you about getting sleeved?
I asked a friend how she lost the weight and thank goodness she told me she had VSG. I had never heard of this option before. Thanks to her I will have surgery on the 16th. Needless to say, I will tell everyone that asks.

November 20th it is!
Glad you found this site. I have been obsessed with it since July. I think you will continue to love it and learn a ton. My surgery is on the 16th and all I keep thinking is that most people here regret not having it done sooner! A few have had complications and they STILL love their sleeves. I think the toughest are the first few weeks not 6 months. We can do this!!!!!!!! Please come introduce yourself on the forum for us, November sleevers. You too VSGme! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/26418-banana-babes/page__hl__%2Bbanana+%2Bbabes__fromsearch__1

So nervous...date November 17th for sleeve
My surgery is on the 16th! I am very excited. I had some butterflies in my stomach the last two weeks but now that most of the things I had to do, are done, I am pretty calm. I hope to stay that way.....but who knows. I suggest read, read, read on this website. It is wonderful. I feel as prepared as one can get thanks to this website and the wonderful posters. Having said all that, being nervous is very normal! :smile1: Best wishes! Please come say hi at the forum for November Sleevers! You will be a "Banana Babe"!!! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/26418-banana-babes/page__hl__%2Bbanana+%2Bbabes__fromsearch__1

Allergy Medicine
Have you called your primary doctor and see what he/she suggests? Perhaps she can recommend a different medication or call your surgeon or anesthesiologist. Also, was it your surgeon that told you they stick to their recommendations or the person that answered the phone? I wonder if they talked to him/her or just repeated what they always say to patients. I have allergies and there is no way I can stop taking them for a month. I haven't been told to stop taking them and my surgeries is in 10 days. I take zyrtec & a nasal spray daily. The post nasal drip alone will make you miserable after surgery. I can't imagine the sneezing and coughing! :whatchutalkingabout As a matter of fact, one of my questions on my pre-op appointment this coming Thursday is what should I do the night before surgery in regards to the Zyrtec I take at bedtime because I don't want to miss 1 dose. I have been taking a monthly injection for years for a type of arthritis I have and my last primary doctor told me to skip a month and I was in SO MUCH PAIN I could barely get dressed to go to my breast reduction surgery (6 years ago). I was very close to not making it to the hospital! The anesthesiologist then told me that it wasn't necessary! ARGH! So this time around I went to my rheumatologist and he told me to skip a month but to call him immediately if I have pain so he can suggest something different. In the meantime you might want to use a Neti pot once or twice a day. I will. (I'm not a doctor though.) Best wishes!
