  1. Yep! Formerly an Aug sleever now surgery on 9/14
  2. Hi, I have gallstones to, I was in the emergency room twice before we discovered what it was. I find that after I eat a greasy meal or even beef that I have that horrible upper back and chest pain. My surgery is on 9/14/11 but my surgeon does not recommend removing the gallbladder at that time, he is also fixing my hiatal hernia. I found out in April that I had gallstones and have not had any flare ups since I cut out beef and greasy foods. Good Luck
  3. Hey, I understand how you feel, my surgery was rescheduled today from 8/17 to 9/14. I cried a little but I'm good. Its well worth the wait Take Care
  4. Hi, I second the paraguard (copper IUD) it has no hormones and is good for 10 years. I had one in 2003, then took it out to have my son in 2010, now its back in. I find that my periods are more regular and shorter.
  5. Hey Kayyybeee! I did the cardiology clearance w/ Dr Dutta. I had the ekg & echo in his office then had to go to Lawrence for the stress test w/c was on the treadmill for only like 5 min. All in all in weren't long or stressful appointments, just spread out on different days and times.
  6. Hi, I'm so anxious and nervous too! I have Aetna Choice Plus and completed all the requirements (3 NUT appt, PCP Let, Psych/Cardiac/Pulmonary/End clearance) on 7/5/11. My surgeon's office is handling everything I don't even know when my info was submitted. My clinical coordinator says they usually have no problems with Aetna, they call them with the approval. I have a surgery date already, but I'm so nervous, like its not really real since I have not heard a formal approval or received a letter from Aetna. I don't want to call Aetna because if I was to here that I wasn't approved I would be devastated
  7. Hi, Glad to hear your sleeve went well. I'm being sleeved by Dr Silva on 8/17 at Lawrence. Take Care!!
  8. August 17th Here!!!! I'm so nervous and excited!
  9. Hi, My surgery is scheduled for August 17. Yippeee cannot wait!
  10. Hi, Yeah I know I just made an appointment to meet w/ Dr Silva on Jul 21, he only works like 1 day a week. Not sure how soon the surgery is after that but I was hoping for 8/8/11. I feel more comfortable with Dr Silva, when I do a search on his name I get hits and people who have used him before, not so much with Dr Ross. But good luck with everything and I will definitely let you know how my journey is going!
  11. Hi, Wow that really sucks that your husband it not supportive, and even rude to say that you "failed at everything else I have ever tried so how could I possibly succeed with this" that was hurtful. My husband is not 100% on board with me getting the sleeve either, but at the end of the day its MY decision and the benefits most certainly outweigh the risks. I would stick to your guns and yes try to include him in a seminar or whatever but really this procedure is going to improve your quality of life, so I would move forward no matter what he thinks. Take Care
  12. HI, I'm also considering either Dr Roth or Dr Silva for my surgery. I'm from the Bronx but Lawrence is really close to me. I started my journey through an online seminar, then had my first appt with the Center for advanced surgery on May 13. I've had all of my testing done, just waiting on cardiac clearance, my final nurtrionist appt is in July. I can't wait I hope all goes well and I can have my surgery in Aug. I've heard mixed reviews with Aetna.
  13. Hi, I have the Paraguard IUD for the second time now. Its great, no hormones and no problems getting pregnant after its removal. I had one after my 2nd child was born in 2003, then I removed it Jan 2010 and was pregnant by March 2010. I had it replaced in Feb of this year. I also have not had any heavier periods or cramping.
  14. Hi Everyone My name is Salease, I'm a 30+ year old married mother of 3. I haven't always been overweight or as the BMI calculator indicates morbidly obese(NICE!). I weighed about 145-150 in high school , which we called "Thick" back then lol. After the birth of each of my children I gained a little more, and a little more. Even at my heaviest almost 260 pounds (I'm 5'2) I still felt cute in my clothes and still was active. Recently though after the birth of my son (he's 6 months old) I've been in and out of the hospital with high blood pressure issues, prediabetes, gall stones, chest pains (asthma had flarred up), and swollen sore ankles every night. I feel like I'm falling apart. I've always wondered about bariatric surgery, what the requirements were, how much, and etc. So after talking to my primary care and insurance (Aetna) I found out that I do qualify. YAYYYY. I went for my first appt in the 3 month supervised program last Monday. Now I'm off to do the rest of the pre surgical testing required. Anyway just wanted to do a quick intro. Take Care!
