    A Hiatal Hernia

Hi, I did not know I had a hernia either, until I reviewed the info from my endoscopy with my surgeon. They fixed it when I had my sleeve done on 9/14/11. The one thing I did have was really bad chest tightness and pain after. Dr said it was due to the repair and it would gradually get better, it did about a week or so post op.

    Questions For Bronx, Ny Wls

Hey! Just wanted to throw a little support your way. I'm from the Bronx, and I was sleeved in Sept@ Lawrence hospital by Dr. Miguel Silva. I have not had the same health problems, only gallstones, and hiatal hernia which have only improved since surgery. Most aliments tend to improve after the weight loss, but maybe put this post in the "Pre op questions" section of the board which gets a little more traffic. Good Luck to you, and feel free to msg me during your journey. take care

You look Awesome! Good for you!
  4. Happy New Year! I told myself I would take a picture for the New year. I've been a slow loser (IMO) I was sleeved on 9/14/11 and have lost 53 pounds (two pounds from ONEderland YIPEEE) I never measured my inches but I was a size 18/20 in bottoms & 2x in tops and now I wear a 14 (or a tight 12) in bottoms & size large in shirts! I've been really emotional about my weight loss or lack of it, comparing my loss to others sleeved around the same time, weighing myself twice a day, but I'm over it. I feel good, my pre-hypertension is gone, my ankles don't hurt at the end of the day, and I can still eat the foods I like (well most of them) but in moderation. My coworkers are also telling me they see it, even though I don't. Still a long way from goal but I'm going to be positive about it and work harder to make it happen (EXERCISE!!!) Take Care guys!

A Slow Loss Is Still A Loss ;)

Thanks for all the compliments guys I really appreciate it! May we all continue to SHRINK in 2012!
  6. My son is 1 (10 months old when I had the surgery) about 25 pounds. I put a pillow on top of my stomach for us to have our "snuggle bunny" time. I had help lifting him, but was able to move around and make his bottles no problem. It really took me about two weeks to get back into the routine. Your sore and sensitive but you have to get back to it, I did especially because of all the gas pains and hiatal hernia repair. Good luck!
  7. Hi, I was sleeved 2 days before you and I've only lost 43 pounds (and 13 were pre op). I consider myself a slow loser as well. Yes its depressing to see people losing double the amount that you've lost, but you'll drive yourself crazy comparing. My Dr. told me to weigh myself monthly and to measure inches. I know I'm losing inches b/c I can get into my 14 jeans when I usually wear an 18/20. Just know that the pounds you have lost are gone FOREVER and in 6 or maybe 7 months you'll be the weight you want to be! Take Care
  8. Hi, I use these Protein bullets. Yes they are thick but I put them in Water with Crystal light and they taste like kool aid! Really good!

    Slow weight loss

Hey Guys, I'm 32 and a "slow loser" as well. I was sleeved almost 8 weeks ago and have only lost 25 pounds post op while people sleeved around the same time lost that amount the first week. I started to get depressed (seriously) about it but for the last 3 days I've been like whatever. I've been strict with the Protein shakes for Breakfast, meat/fish and brown rice or veggies for lunch/dinner and snacking on fruit or cheese. Keeping my calories between 600-700, and carbs under 40, but I'm OVER IT I mean if I want a slice of pizza or a piece of cake I'm going to have it. So for the last three days I've up'd my calories to 900-1000, and kept carbs under 100 and finally the scale moved 3 pounds lost!!! I know there is a big carb debate but this change is working for me. Anway at the end of the day, whether fast or slow the weight will eventually come off.

    How Are The Spitfires Doing?

Hey! I was sleeved on 9/14. I just had my 5 1/2ish week follow up today my Dr thinks I'm doing great. I feel a little discouraged because I'm not loosing as fast as many others. I'm down almost 35 pounds, its only been like 20 post surgery I know, I know you should not compare, but its so freaking frustrating!! I barely eat between 600-800 calories, I get my Water and still drink my Protein shakes daily. I'm trying to stay positive because I know I will never see those 35 pounds again Anywhoo, CONGRATS to all of us!

Hi, I told EVERYONE (Family, friends, co workers)! There is no shame in my game. They were all excited some nervous about the surgery aspect, but no negative comments.

    New protein shots

Hi, I've been using these but Bullet Nutrition, they don't appear to have collagen, just casein and whey Protein isolate. I showed them to my NUT she said they were fine. I put half a package of crystal light and they taste like kool aid.
  19. Hey, I'm still in the hospital should br getting out today, but I hve this horrible chest pain. My dr said is from my hiatal hernia repar I thought it was my asthma flaring up at first but my chest from one side to the other is sore and my throat. Has anyone ever experienced this. Aside from thi chest pain,my sutures feel fine and I've been up and walking around since yesterday. Thx!
  20. Thanks guys for the support and information. The dr is releasing me and wants me to follow up in two weeks. He's really confident that this pain stems from the hernia and I was dry heaving from that morphine drip. Uuuhhhhhh I'm so sore in my chest area even my jaw and teeth hurt. He left me some pain meds and some pepsid or something. Can't wait to get home, shower and get in my own bed
  21. Hi, I'm an accountant also, my surgery is on a Wednesday then I will take that week and the following. My surgeon suggested 3 to 4 weeks but that won't work with the close. Although I sit at a desk I have an hour commute on the train each way. I was up and around a week after my c section so I can't imagine this pain being any worse. (at least I hope not!)

What kind of treadmill do you have?

Hi, I'm thinking about getting a treadmill as well. I see Overstock.com is having a sale or something but they have an Ironman 300 pound capacity for $600. There are a ton on there some are even less!!
