    Did My Band Slip

This happened to me and it turned to be gas pain. Exactly the way you are describing it! I was in massive pain for about four hours and was about to drive the hour to my LB doc and decided to take a hot bath and some liquid pain medicine. It finally began to fade away. I thought for sure my band had slipped, it hurt so bad! Let us know how you are doing!!

    October Bandsters!!!

Baggytop! I was banded on the 21st! The only thing that really helps me, when I cough, is wrapping my arms around my tummy. I kinda hold myself in with my hands, by gently pressing in as I cough?! I get sharp pains when I sneeze . . . I hate that! I wish holding my tummy would make that go away! )

I have a little question! Do any of ya'll have a sharp pain below your belly button when you sneeze or cough? Just curious!

    October Bandsters!!!

I had a hard time figuring this out too!! Click on your profile name at the top left (where it says "signed in as . . . ), the select "my settings", click the "forum" tab and the the "change signature' tab on the left. You paste the code in to the box and be sure to click the save or update button at the bottom! I hope I said that all right! My ticker was code until I finally figured it out!! )

    October Bandsters!!!

I was banded yesterday!!! The gas pain in my chest, shoulders and back are gone! Thank God!! Today my stomach is sore! It's mainly the port incision that hurts! I'm seeing that some of ya'll are or had the same pain?! Right? Mine is hard and super tender? Anyway, I think I'm doing pretty good, I'm just happy to be on my way!

    October Bandsters!!!

I am officially a Bandster! I had my surgery this morning at 11am and was home by 2:15! The pain from the surgery hasn't been bad at all, BUT the gas pain in my chest, shoulders and back is kicking' my booty!! Wowsers, I knew I could have that, but didn't realize how painful it could be! Anyway, I have been walking quite a bit and that seems to help, sitting definitely aggravates it! It's really weird to on the other side!

    October Bandsters!!!

Tomorrow is Birthday Band Day!!! I can't believe it's finally here! I have been a little anxious over the last week, but after meeting with my surgeon today . . . . I'm ready to get 'er done! He didn't sugar coat anything, but my appt lasted two hours! I feel very informed and very much confirmed in my decision to do this! I will try to post tomorrow after surgery! Yay me and everybody else who's entering Bandland tomorrow!

    BCBS ?

I have BCBS and they have an exclusion for the Lap-Band. Basically I am having to combine a hernia repair with the band placement. I will pay for just the band, insurance will cover the rest. It's about 50%. I have a family member that is an insurance specialist in a large surgeon's practice and she said BCBS across the nation is about 50/50 for any WLS. BUT it really has everything to do with what the employer decides about the coverage they want to provide their employees!
  11. I am having the Lap-Band on 10/21 and although I am not worried about having the surgery, I am a mess about the recovery! I have four kiddos (3 are 5yrs and under) and I really only have three days with help after the surgery. My hubby is amazing and will be great on the those days and when he gets home from work after that, but my family lives far away and can't come in town to help. I do have inlaws that live close, but they are very opposed to WLS and will not be helping me. I have typically recovered well from surgeries, but being mommy on day 4 after this surgery seems like a stretch! Anyway, I was hoping to hear from some mommies who have been through the surgery and what it's like with the kids at home! When did you feel back to normal?

What if my liver doens't shrink?

This is my fear too! I have been on the South Beach Phase 1 (my surgeon's choice) for my pre-op diet and I haven't lost a pound!! My surgery is 10/21 and I'm nervous my surgeon will not be pleased! I have been following it to a "T" and nothing, nada . . . this is why I want the Band!! Anyway, almost wish I was on the liquid diet instead!
  13. Done with the endoscopy! Just a pre-op with my surgeon and a birthday Lap-Band!!

  14. Okay . . . . now I'm nervous!!

    just need to vent!!!

I was told that I might have to do this, but ended up insurance didn't need it for me. All that to say, they were going to give a "take home" sleep study? It may be a little late, but it couldn't hurt to ask!

    October Bandsters!!!

Hello everybody! I guess I get to be part of this "club" !! My surgery date is 10/21, which is also my birthday! A great way to start my 39th year . . . . don't ya say?! I'm so glad to have a group like this to get encouragement, so far most of my friends and family are not supportive! My hubs is amazing and best friend super, but everyone else thinks it's a short cut! Anyway, I found out today that I am to start my pre-op diet on Tuesday. They have me doing 10 days of phase 1 South Beach. I'm nervous and excited that it's finally here!!
  17. Not nervous about the surgery, nervous about recovering with little people to care for . . .

  18. I do have a great church and a really sweet mommies group, but I am not really ready to come "out" about this. Unfortunately, the few friends I've shared with have been less than excited for me. Bummer! My best friend (she is very excited for me) is an ICU nurse, going through a nasty divorce and has three kids of her own. She is so amazing and will do what she can, but can't I expect anything from her. I have been cleaning and organizing like a crazy person, my hubby says I'm nesting! I didn't even think about meals?! I start my pre-op diet Sunday, so I've been focused about that. I may do a cooking day on Saturday and stock my freezer. I just keep thinking about the toddler who wants to be held all the time. Or the three year old that has officially entered a tantrum stage!

    Biotin for hair loss...

It will take a while for you to really see a difference from the Biotin. I think it was 6 months before I could tell, my hairbrush had 50% less hair in it! I also, use Nioxin cleanser, conditioner and scalp treatment and that I made a difference in a month! I don't have a band yet, my surgery date is 10/21, but I experienced hair loss after the birth of my fourth child!
  20. I finally have a surgery date!

  21. I ran out of space too! I'm in Denton, but my surgeon and all the TR people are in Dallas. They are very nice and when I called the day before yesterday, they called me right back. I asked about 100 questions! Although, today I remembered another one! I'll just write it down for the next time! :o) My PA is Jo. I just saw a few days ago that she's on the TR website, she's great!

  22. Yes, I'm having the hiatal and an incisional (from my last c-section) hernias dealt with. Insurance will cover both of those, but I have to pay up front for the band. I guess that's why I don't have all the diet hurdles?! I found out yesterday that everything is done as far as paperwork. That leaves a visit with my surgeon, endoscopy and then lap-band install :o)!!! Have you had the endoscopy yet?

    I'm new here!

To be totally honest . . . I'm not sure where I am in the process! I'm pretty sure we're moving forward, but I really don't have a clear picture of when my surgery will be!! My insurance has an exclusion for Lap Band, so I'll have another procedure (that I needed done) that insurance will cover and I'll just pay for the actual band. Anyway, I'm excited to just be headed the right direction!!
  24. Not sure where I am in the process . . . . but I think I'm getting closer!!!

  25. Hi!! I noticed that you are going through True Results, I am using them too! They have been great, but I guess right now I'm a little confused about where I am in the process?! I've spent about two months going back and forth with a gal regarding insurance. My insurance has an exclusion for Lap Band, so I'm having a nother procedure done at the same time and will pay cash just for the actual band. Once that was dealt with, I had a consultation in the TR office with a patient advocate and tomorrow I go for a bunch of lab work. When the results come in, then I have an appt with surgeon. All of that to ask :o) . . . does this sound like what you've gone through? Just curious! Hope all goes well for you! I'd love to keep up with your story! I noticed, we are about the same height and weight (although I'm a teensy bit older:o) - hopefully we can begin the journey at the same time!! Oh and I'm a TEXAS girl too!
