@

Good afternoon, The surgery went well , I stayed two nights in the hospital because my BP kept spiking, I came home last night , got my Rx's filled and I actually feel much better now that I am at home. The doctors and nurses do encourage sipping, but quite honestly thats all you can do because the stomach is so much smaller it cant handle big gulps of anything . Right now my focus is trying to fit in the 64 oz they want me to take in per day. I havent felt hungry at all. The worst thing for me was the removal of that drainage tube- OW yes that was no fun feeling him pull that thing out. But once he did, I think I started to feel even better. I was up walking the next morning after Surgery to try to expell alot of the gas that is trapped in my tummy. I am so prudish I hate passing gas at random , but I can't make it to the rest room as quickly or often enough for this new bodily occurance. Trust me you want to let it go because you'll feel so much better when you do . So far I've only had water, sugar free jello, chicken , beef or vegetable broth, sugar free popsicles and plain vanilla yogurt , this morning at home I had my first two oz. of the protein drink . Right now I take in those things out of necessity to prevent dehydration and deficiencies , I am truly not hungry. Hope this helps :-)

I have read so many encouraging and informative posts on this site and they have all made me calm and ready for my Sleeve Surgery on Monday. I saw my Primary Care Dr. yesterday for my preop visit with her , I took the time to thank her for really listening and hearing me!!!! She's the best and switching over to her was the best decision I ever made! I was excited on Wednesday ,because following this liquid diet enable me to have a good BP on my visit to her office. normally I was getting some dissapoint readings but Wednesday I am proud to announce it was 116/82 hooray because 151/96 was really freaking me out !!!!!!My mom had high blood pressure and diabetes along with a host of other ailments and I never want to suffer some of the effect of those challenges she has gone through. I made this decision for me , I am too young to have so many issues caused simply by weight. I respect anyone with their battle in getting fit and healthy when their weight serves as a barrier in doing so , I hope to lead by example so that my loved ones can take stock of the life changes I am making and get on board to help themselves as well. 72 hours and I am on my way to CDH for VSG!!!!!!!! Thank God
5. I am right there with you , mine is on Monday the 27th as well. I often ask myself the same question , I control so manythings I do in my life but this is the one thing that defeated me all my life :-( But I refuse to be on a ton of meds and disable so I have to go this extra mile because I care for and love myself! Best wishes for a good procedure and fantastic recovery , chat with you soon !

Dr. Tariq's nurse called yesterday to inquire how the diet is going and to have me go stand on the scales , yeeeeeah me!!!!!! I have lost 16 lbs from 3 wks ago following this liquid diet. Only a few more days until I get the sleeve I am so happy to finally reach this day! I have gotten hungry and been very tempted to just bounce back into my old habits and whip a mean meal that satisfies the soul, but I think about the greater good in what I am trying to do for myself and the sabotage thoughts go right out the window!!!! It's amazing how you can condition yourself to drink water and feel full , I never remained constant in doing this before I felt I had something at stake ! Thanks for the call Jen!!!!!! You guys are keeping me on track !
9. I personally love love love Jazzercise!!!!! A mix of cardio, strength and jazz dance !!!!! One hour of a total workout depending on what you put into it and the sweat and burn make you feel absolutely wonderful!!!! 4 times a week , and did I mention I LOVE IT !!!!!!

11. Thank you MeMeMeee and winecountrygirl, I am so ready to get past my health issues !!! I am thankful for finding this site completely by accident , but it has been so affirming reading other peoples comments and advice.
12. When I saw my surgeon on the 17th he suggested I follow the liquid diet that the Dietician had given me to lose at least 5 lbs this week. The reason for his suggestion , he said it would shrink the liver which is in the area of where they will need to perform the procedure. If anything it gives you the headstart on weening yourself from cafienne and sugars so that you are not just cold turkey. Thats my thought process , plus I have lost weight these couple of weeks that I have done the diet. Use your best judgement , but I think its better to be completely ready for the change in consumption .
13. Keep me posted once you have the surgery and I will make sure I post my progress as well, this time next week with be Surgery Eve!
14. April 2010 I started this Journey, my road blocks were all health related, I found out I had tumors in my stomach, Barretts Esophagus and Pernicious Anemia. My first doctor seemed to be doctor Gloom and didnt give me a hopeful prognosis at all. I asked my primary care doctor to send me to a new specialist for a second Opinion .... needless to say I am so happy I didnt accept the first doctors diagnosis!!!!! Dr. Nadimpolli gave me hope and a path to get to this point. Now Here I am a year later , I cant do the Gastric Bypass because they will need to be able to perform the endoscopy exams to check for tumors , so I will be Sleeved on 6/27/11 the good thing about this is , it eliminates the creation of gastrin which was causing the tumors and the Barretts Esophagus should get better. Yeah!!!!!!! I so look forward to losing the co-morbidities that I have, I've seen so many of my loved ones suffer because of them. If I can change me first then I can be a blessing to someone through my experience!!!!!!! Can someone tell me how to attach the ticker that shows your progress ? I want to have a way to track/measure progress as this journey begins. Best wishes for everyone who has or has yet to start this journey to a healthier you !!!!!!! Two fingers, ONe Love !!!!! CAMMYD *:-)
15. I've done this liquid diet for a week now and I have lost a total of 3lbs for the week , I started cutting my intake of everything a week before that and doing my Jazzercise. I have a total weight loss of 10lbs from my doctor visit 3 1/2 wks ago Yeahhhhh!!!!!! My surgeon Dr. Nabil Tariq on 6/17/11 told me he wants me to lose 5 more lbs before the 27th , I feel confident I can do it . Practiciing this sipping is a bit hard because I just want to drink this stuff and get past the taste. I prefer water but I know that has no nutrional value.
16. My Surgery will be June 27th as well!!!!!!! Glad to know there will be others on the same day that I can compare notes and share the experience with !!!!!! I started the liquid Protein diet as well need to lose 5lbs this week at least! Best wishes to everyone !!!1
