  1. Hi Georgia you are right, that it must be hard to lose weight that you/anyone gains i only mentioned to OP that gaining 10-15 lbs like she did, wasn't "that" bad trying to make HER feel better but no way, will i follow those footsteps!!!! absolutely, positively, irrevocably, no doubt about it ----- NOOOOO intentions on regaining any weight (fluctuations of a couple lbs don't count) repeating - no weight gain - going back to the devil been there, done that - never again from my lips to God's ears!!!! maybe my over emphasis (per my DH) on not regaining et al is to reassure myself but for whatever reason - stands true best 4 letter word??? GOAL!!! kathy
  2. trenya07 Oh No!!! you can't give up!!! you are just starting first off - we never say the word "only" as in i "only" lost 20 lbs that is a lot of weight you have gotten rid of, nothing to sneeze about!!!! but IMO losing 20 lbs in 9 weeks is great keep doing what you are doing drinking, exercise et al 1,000 calories - "maybe" you are getting in too many calories at your stage in the game do you have a NUT than can advice you??? if not, keep comi back and read the boards we are not professional NUT's here but........... some of us are nuttier than others you will lose more weight!!!! i promise - really you will don't quit on your sleeve - and it won't quit on you  good luck kathy

  9. Ms.Nya like the 2 smart ladies before me said, - we all are different!!!! we recup differently some (like me) have no problems PO recovery - while others have "issues" there is no normal situation for OP after surgery sounds like you will be in the hospital a couple of days - then home for 2 days, then vaca some OP have had WLS on a "wednesday" - back to work/or "normalcy" on monday!!! but...........others might have certain normal issues/problems such as vomitting, gas, exhaustion remember (as if you could forget ) you just had major surgery 85% of your nasty tummy was cut out !!!! if this trip is paid for/airlines - no way to change vaca with work - sure go for it but...........if you can hold the vaca off for a couple of weeks...........i would do that happy WLS speedy recovery have fun on your trip kathy
  10. shelly22 i see you had surgery 6/18/13 - less than a week ago 11 lbs down - wonderful congrats being tired is common for many newbie sleevers right after WLS you should rest, give yourself a break, and let DH continue to spoil you!!!! we see to forget sometimes that we just had major surgery your tummy was cut up - and 85% was thrown out with the garbage - thats where it belongs maybe you should/could hold off on church and walmart et al til you get some energy back don't overdue hope you recovery moves along well good luck kathy
  11. DOS 12/15/11 one month PO i turned 58 now 59 60 in January sad face only because i am sad that i didn't have the knowledge or opportunity to have WLS earlier sometimes i remember my "old" life and weight "situation" - that makes me sad that all that time was wasted being heavy of course sleeve hasn't been available that long for weight loss didn't want the lapband or gastric bypass past is past - done over with - can't change - but still........... i started to get heavy in my late teens - weight kept going uphill finally realized a few years ago i HAD to get serious about addressing my weight 18 months post op - goal - total loss of 105 lbs 6 months maintaining nicely easy surgery and recovery diabetes/insulin/- high blood pressure - CPAP - gone, gone, and gone mobility has improved 100% i run here there and everywhere enjoying myself!!!! my 3 young grandkids are 1,000 miles away but i love being with them (daughter and soninlaw are ok too, but i rather be with the grandkids ) DH is good to have around too!!!! i do volunteer work that i love lots of shopping too!!! i'm a happy camper with my new life may "we/you/me" all enjoy a continued healthier, happier and much lllllonger life life is good kathy
  12. Fiddleman/Laurie i have told my husband and others - how smart he is cuz he chose me works both ways i'm sure you have supported each other through all of your life Laurie's support to you was wonderful before, during, and after WLS now you can turn around and do the same for her then continue to be there for each other Laurie i know you will be as successful as DH surgery in one week + wow - betcha excited!!!! (little nervous too) good luck speedy recovery kathy

  16. hey dude thanx for sending the great picture the first picture was great too - but hard to see sideways i can see the headline in the paper now successful sleever hurts/strains neck looking at another successful sleever keep up the good work/job!!!! kathy congrats
  17. Georgia i agree with both of your statements - life is/can be hard and challenging we gotta keep a stiff upper lip, and constantly be aware of what you/me/we are eating and drinking easier said than done, but............... 3 years maintenance!!!! now that's what i'm talkin' about!!!! congrats on losing 100 lbs i understand about the stomach relaxing a bit more, restriction still there i weigh daily so if i'm ok with my eating and drinking, i shouldn't/won't gain we all know with the gastric bypass you can, and many do regain all their weight back but...........if i slip up and for example gain 10 - 15 lbs or so, its not that hard to take off???? you regained a bit, took most of it off, almost back to normal sleeve is always working with you - while you are working with the sleeve???? most people, if they have any "smarts" at all - wouldn't / shouldn't can't gain sooo much weight back???? right???? they/me/we realize - must take that little weight off before its toooo late not gonnna worry, worry about regaining that being said - being a little extra scared/concerned about gaining is good for me will help keep me on the straight and narrow after having major surgery - working hard - losing 105 lbs becoming a newer, healthier, happier me - i just can't /won't gain weight again from my lips to God's ears kathy
  18. Indigo1991 I definitely agree about having protection!!!! buy a large dog!!! being a little nervous, perfectly understandable kindof like being a little nervous pre-WLS but..........the surgery is over and you have been successful by losing 34 lbs WooHoo!! i am sure you will will be just as successful on your first of many dates As OP said, smile, be yourself and have fun knock 'em dead!!!! kathy
  19. hewalkswithme hi there concentrate on today we can't change the past - its over and done with we can/must work hard on the present - doing our weight "thing" and all other good "stuff" it's too early to worry about what "might" happen in the future the future is "out there" - but don't dwell on gaining the weight back til you lose it first worrying a "bit" can be helpful, in the fact that you stay diligent to your eating, drinking (works for me) AFTER most/many people reach goal (me, me) there is the concern/fear about gaining weight back the ONLY way this can ever happen - is we forget/ignore all we've learned through out this process but i know you have a good memory I'm lucky for the fact that i do like Water - and am able to drink my 64 oz can't really add to OP's good suggestions on what to drink but...........i will say you need to drink more - some how!!!! i get that it is hard for you but you must come to some sort of "agreement" with yourself about a drink - or FORCE yourself to drink H20 i know this is easier said than done but we all or should know that water is essential to our life truth is, all "normal" people should drink lots and lots of water hope you can solve your situation about the water, liquids congrats on losing 30 lbs good luck with your continued weight loss kathy
  20. Lisa, Lisa Welcome Home i am sorry you have been, and are still going through your ordeal/problems personal and physical it can be/was hard to say what you did hopefully/maybe you feel better after spilling your guts therapeautic for me!!! you know the procedure with what you are supposed to do post WLS but its understandable if you need to be reminded of some of the many important rules Water rules especially if you did forget anything ask away - we don't bite well.......not usually Protein shakes, water - all that good stuff you ARE a success story, because you told/shared your life over these past years and i can see in your pretty face, eyes, and smile you are terrific as far as exercise......there is a video for people using a chair to exercise - because they can't do the alternative moving is moving you must get out of that chair (with help if necessary) your legs play "tricks" on you if you don't use the legs - they get all stiff, and stiff, and stiffer "use them or lose them" even just moving the legs around like OP mentioned is better than nothing arm circles, any basic movement you can think of is better than nothing you CAN and will do this we're all here to give encouragement and support whenever you need it take care hun you can have many new friends here!! raising my hand, raising my hand best of luck kathy
  21. DUBrookie03 hey bud you are aces!!!!! 100 lbs century club OMG what more could one ask for???? wellllll.......... take care continued good luck kathy
  22. hmmmmmmmmmm post op 17 months - maintaining goal 6 months i guess i'm not a "veteran" vet i keep my calorie count pretty accurate in my head i know i know, need to get back to MFP don't exercise much to speak of i definitely graze sometimes above statements true necessary statements to make so in other words i am NOT perfect!!! well, maybe i am!!! seriously i have those times i especially want to and do grab an extra Protein bar/2 bags of small popcorn i know i'm not hungry, i just want to eat like the old days Protein Bar has so many carbs!!!!!!!!! i weigh myself daily wearing the same birthday suit i fluctuate 2 lbs - never more but this HOT 59 year young grammy is one sexy chic i feel great!!!! am i misunderstanding - but do you think lots of sleevers are unsuccessful in the long run/keeping the weight off??? OMG- i didn't think that was the case sure i have to keep the thought that i have to be "good" people that have the gastric bypass - their tummy can stretch easily but, i've always heard from my NUT/surgeon that the sleeve can't/will not stretch since the "stretchy" part was removed this doesn't mean that we can eat like before........ i continue to eat correctly/Water protein (sometimes trouble there) i don't have any kids at home (except DH )so i don't buy ANYTHING "bad" - no Cookies, ice cream et al so the tempation is not there maybe as time passes, things will be harder for me - hopefully not there is no way, i have gone through this major surgery - worked so hard to lose my weight and improve my health, to now resort to old bad habits then of course gaining my weight back, and more importantly - getting unhealthy again so it does scare me when its inferred that some/many regain i don't know if i misunderstood one of the OP posts about regaining, and possible trouble post goal sorry i reread the above - and i wrote things out of order bye good luck to all of us we/you/me WILL survive DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 5'3 today goal 135 lbs weight 130 59 years young still 5'3 kathy
  23. Holly terrific, terrific, terrific you'll be in the century club very soon i'm holding the door open for you keep up the great job/work kathy congrats
  24. BKLYNga87-cata01 the thought of our sleeves stretching/ or not is a discussion that periodically comes up newbies especially are afraid of stretching their stomach i "used" to be a newbie too with those common feelings now i am a "grown up veteran!!! ) from an early point talking to my NUT and surgeon - they both explained that your sleeve 99.99999% can't stretch during WLS - when 85% our tummy was removed - the "stretchy" part was also removed this does not mean you can't regain you can "fool" the sleeve, by eating every few hours when your tummy is empty, eating many calories too or just trying to eat 24/7 and eventually you will get sick, and regain this stretching your sleeve???? you are abusing it/sabatoging yourself but per all what i have heard from my NUT/surgeon - and most/many, many on this board you will NOT/can not stretch your sleeve but ----you must always remain dilligent with your eating and drinking to be the healthy, happier successful sleever that we were all "born" to be!!!! please don't think "oh since i can't stretch my sleeve i will always be fine" no way is that true you MUST follow all the rules that we were taught............. for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life sorry i hi-jacked the conversation about Water Vixynees' post and link explained the water situation in a nutshell!!! Water rules IMO/and most others - is one of the MOST important rules to follow I'm a firm believer in "Rules Were NOT made to be broken!!" my "disclaimer" i am not a doc/nurse/or in the medical field i am just a sleever with experience and an opinion to give here is a drink to you and everyones health!!!! kathy
  25. cato01 hi there sure its possible to get back on that horse you lost 65 lbs before!!! way to go!!!! get a head start, back to basics with Protein shakes follow all Water rules 30 minutes - don't drink before eating never drink during meal (people have been shot for less!) don't drink for about 45-60 minutes after you eat get at least 64 oz of H20 a day small portions chew, chew, chew little bites put utensil down between bites - and wait til you continue to eat measure your food put it on small plate hows that for reminder of basics/and what you will continue to do for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life!!!! do you have a NUT? if not maybe try and get one for a few consultations through health insurance, or its worth it to pay on your own if you can i see it in your pretty face, smile and eyes, that you are a strong determined lady now, get going do not pass go, do not collect $200.00 I KNOW you will succeed good luck kathy
