  1. LOL ok that is a weird dream. Good luck to both of you on your surgery's. Mine is next week.
  2. It just depends on your surgeon. If you have everything your insurance requires, and your surgeon submits it to your insurance for approval, it could only take a few weeks. Once mine was sent in for approval it was only one week then my surgeons office called to set up my surgery date. Good luck.
  3. Meg, How many carbs per day do you use? I know carbs are my downfall. I love bread to much. I also have fallen in love with greek yogurt, lots of Protein, but high in carbs too :-( And do most of you think the slow weight loss is due to our age too? I'm 46 and since turning 42, its been so hard to lose weight. And now I'm in menopause, its even harder.
  4. What if you lose 140 lbs by this time next year.... What if you have to buy all new clothes SMALLER... Turn those negative "what ifs" into positive ones. I know what your thinking, I'm there with you...but I always turn it around to what its going to be like once I lose all this fat. Once I'm no longer "miserable" in this fat body. I just don't think life can get worse......it has to get better. In fact I know it will get better. We can do this....one month from now we will be telling another "pre-sleever" how wonderful it is and to not worry. Hugs,
  5. My daughter has 2 children with Celiac disease. She has a great blog with recipes on it. I know, not just for sleevers...but maybe some ideas there for you. She also knows I'm getting the sleeve, so if you send her an email on her blog, she can probably come up with somethings for you. She has been asked to speak by the kids nutritionist at several events, because she really seems to have this stuff down. I'm so proud of her. She is always researching and making up new recipes. http://gluten-freefoodstorage.blogspot.com/ Hope that helps.
  6. What day did you actually have your surgery...to be back at work today? I'm curious because I don't plan on taking off much time for this, if possible.
  7. So no one else in the office schedules surgeries while she is out? That is crazy.
  8. Welcome Manda. Woo Hoo only 6 more days!! :cheer2: Marilynn, good to know you have personal experience with this. You know what to expect since your hubby had it done. And I bet he is a great supporter as well.
  9. 2 daughters.....on my second vlog entry in my signature, I talk about what I'm drinking right now. I bought a few samples from "mybariatricpantry.com". I will say the Bariatric Advantage brand is good. I also bought some from GNC and its not bad either. I think the best way is to make sure you mix, mix, mix. I use a "bullet" type blender I got at walmart for $20. It's quick, easy and mixes in the same cup you drink out of. I also put a couple of ice cubes in mine. You can add flavorings also to make different type shakes. Here are some ideas from this thread. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/5906-a-huge-list-of-protein-drink-recipes/
  10. Sweet dreams...I'm having my surgery at Baylor Plano. Good Luck. Only one week away. I'm excited.
  11. Welcome, I'm having my surgery on the 11th also. I wouldn't say the pre op sucks, I don't mind the shakes, but with me, my first week I was on vacation, then we have the 4th and parties, and on the 7th is our wedding anniversary. That is what has been hard for me. I do get to eat one meal per day, so it hasn't been to bad. But I could have made better choices on a few of those days. But I'm losing, so it is working. Good luck. Only one more week for us.
  12. Well I bought vanilla Protein powder today to try this week along with the others I have. I also got my decaf coffee, Vitamins and Calcium chews. So I think I'm ready :-) Hope everyone is doing well with the pre-op diet. Just another week or so and we will be on the other side. I can't wait.
  13. Congrats Marilynn. Where are you having your surgery done? And what doc? Butterfly, I finally got the iPhone app to work for me. So hubby or myself should be able to update everyone on my surgery day. Can't wait to hear how you do on the 7th. I'll be thinking about you.
  14. Redheadedone, you said it perfectly. Tex, I know how you are feeling. I'm 46 have 3 children, 26, 25 and 7. Also 4 grandchildren. I want to be around to see my little boy get married and have children and be able to keep up with my grandchildren as well. When I think "Oh my, I'm going to have most of my stomach removed", I do get kinda freaked out.....but....it doesn't last for long. I'm more excited than anything else. And just as Redheadedone said, I know this is the right thing for me at this time in my life. I've been searching for something like this since 2008. Wanted the lapband, so I thought. Went to seminars, tried to get approved....but it just didn't feel right to me. So I didn't think about it anymore, until earlier this year. This time I heard about the sleeve and once I decided that is what I wanted (which didn't take long), everything just fell into place and very quickly. I know this is meant to be. I know this is the right thing to do for me. I know I will be ok and God will take care of me.....so I can take care of my family. You can do this Tex. Stop worrying so much and start making plans for your future. Think how next summer will be for you and your kids. It's going to be wonderful.
  15. You look beautiful. Can't wait to see your wedding pics. Congrats.
  16. Congrats. Sounds like you will be happier with your new sleeve.
  17. 1. To be able to tie my shoes or paint my toes without squishing my fat tummy and being out of breath. 2. To be able to see my "girlie" parts without moving my tummy out of the way. 3. For my husband to be able to pick me up and carry me to the bedroom :-) 4. To be able to cross my legs. 5. To not be the fat friend. 6. To be able to wear a size S or M. 7. To be able to buy clothes in the petite dept, so no more hemming. 8. To be able to run 9. To get up in the mornings and my first steps out of bed are not painful, ankle/feet pain. 10. To eat in front of people and not feel as if they are watching every bite I put in my mouth. 11. To learn to eat healthy for once in my life. 12. To take a shower with my hubby and not feel cramped.
  18. I love your post. Thank you. I know I will need to re-read it again in the future.
  19. You also have to remember the bigger you are, usually you will lose more faster. Plus your age plays a factor sometimes. Not everyone will lose at the same rate. Just do what you can, and you will be fine.
  20. I have BCBS of Texas and my BMI is 41.
  21. I did aweful yesterday on my pre-op diet. We were in the car driving home from vacation for 18 hours. I ate fast food for all three meals. And this morning, I'm so bloated. I'm hoping alot of it is Water weight. I have to really stick to this diet for the next 9 days. But I also think my Special K Protein drinks were not that good for me. After logging them on my tracker I realized way to many carbs in them. NOw that I'm back home and have my samples of shakes I bought here, going to start on them today. Has anyone been losing weight yet?
  22. I always thought of a slider food like a bean burrito. Something you don't chew much and it just slides down. Same as a high calorie shake. Mac n cheese would be a slider food.
  23. This reminds me of having a baby. LOL It's painful but most women would do it again in a heartbeat. Good Luck, hope you start feeling better soon.
