You know, I'd assumed that I'd be a big loser :-) mainly because of my size and starting weight of 6'1 356lbs. I've seen the big guys whopping numbers and said maybe i'll lose half of that (like 15 to 17) in the first week or two..never did I expect such a high number and in only 6 days post op! Do I see it? Hardly, do I feel it? No but I am soooo happy about it.

Only requirement with the bra and panties pic is the "after pic" must be a pretty lacy number!

Oh man yea get off that for sure. I don't even look at my sons candy. For me thinking about the wasted money of a major surgery and the fact that part of my body is now missing keeps me away from candy fat and carbs.

My sleeve journey is going great. I am down 76 lbs. & feeling great. Tomorrow I am going to start exercising 6 days a week with my boyfriend's sister who lost 110 lbs. all by sheer willpower. I love her because she does not judge me being sleeved at all. Here's the stinker. I have 3 1/2 weeks left of my college semester. My last day is April 28th & I leave for vacation on April 29th. I am abstaining from any social media or time drainers. Although I love this site & the supportive people here, I have to take a mini break. So, you won't hear from me again probably until when my vacation starts or some time after April 29th. I know you all are so sad! LOL....Seriously, I know you will all be here when I come back on. My plan for the next 26 days is go to the gym, get in my Protein & Water, do infinite piles of homework, cook & clean. It will be worth it when I am feeling relieved & healthy on my vacation. I can't wait to see what my updated story will look like by then. So, I'll see you on the flip side. Keep working those sleeves!

    Howdy Everyone!
Today marks 9 months since I had surgery! I find it symbolic that that is the length of time I was pregnant - creating my daughters....
ANd that is how long it has taken to create the new me. Was a size 24....now a size 10.
292 day od surgery....188 this morning.....
I can honestly say I am perfectly happy at where I am now. I would love to MAINTAIN where I am now....so IF I lost anymore, bonus! If not - that is fine!
This surgery works! It may be a little slower for some than others....but it WORKS!
I am the happiest I have ever been!

Many doctors are against WLS. Mostly because they themselves are ignorant about why/how it works, truly. As for being the least successful, I say poohey to her. I have lost 85% of my excess body weight with the sleeve (14 months out) and for the first time in 30 years have a BMI of 23.8! Change doctors. Call the bariatric surgery department and ask them for a recommendation. For long term success, you need a doctor who is educated in the bariatric process!

    Hiya decogirl,
What an awful thing for her to say! She clearly has no idea what she is talking about and her research, is well, simply wrong... 30% is just ridiculous ...IMO.
You don't have to deal with her negativity! If you're unhappy, find another doctor, she should be supporting you.
I've experienced similar, althiugh not as crude, by a nurse... I just gave her the death stare and asked 'if she'd finished', picked my dignity up of the floor and walked out with my head held high!
Remember this, you got the sleeve to take charge of your health and well being, do not let others influence you- easier said than done I know- but you were strong enough to get the operation and lose a tremendous amount of weight so far. This tells me that you are already in control... That doesn't need to change because of someone's words!
Ignore her unkind words; keep doing what you are doing and simply prove her wrong!
I'm 2 21/2 yrs out now, I've lost over 90% of my surgeon's goal and 78% of my ultimate goal and I've kept it off! I believe that the sleeve is a tool that will stay with us (yes you can eat around it, if you chose to do so- but you can do that with the other surgeries too). There is no expiry date to the sleeve!
Oh, and congratulations on your weight loss... You are defo rocking that sleeve!
This is a great forum for support.
    Keep us posted...

That's Judy's horrible coming from a doctor at One of the worlds most respected medical institutes. I have a friend who works at mayo and when I decided to tell her that I decided to start the process of getting the surgery done I was afraid she'd put in her medical hat and do the same thing. Luckily she didn't. She is 100% supportive. I haven't gotten mine done yet but I do have a small group at work that know and are behind me 100%. I'd say most definitely get a new doctor cause they are supposed to help not harm you. Best of luck and I hope you have mug more weight loss.

Welcome to Ketosis! This is the fat-burning phase caused by low carbohydrates in the diet. It gets better, but skin is noticeably dryer (I use Palmer's all over for firming and Clinique on my face 2x daily). You also may sunburn more easily. I do. You crave PB because your main source of energy is Protein, which comes from our diets now. Be sure to get in your recommended amount or you risk losing muscle mass, which can include the heart and other organs.
My eyes are dry and I have to use moistening drops and be careful with contacts. Normal. Up your Water if you can. For breath, try altoids smalls. They don't have carbs like regular mints.
    Hope this helps!
