SageTracey got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in lots and lots of quesitons!
Somethings, like the size of my band, I left to my surgeon's expertise to decide.
I stayed in hospital overnight and was glad for the care in that time.
    Good luck.

SageTracey got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in fills to kick in?
First up, there is no need to heal from a fill. Your doctor may tell you to go on liquids or mushies for a day or two but that is all.
As for how long it takes for a fill to kick in - that varies from immediate to a couple of weeks and also depends on things like how much you already had in your band, how much was added, and sometimes even temperature and other health issues.
For example, my last fill in November seemed to have no effect until about two weeks ago when it seemed that it had come into effect incredibly rapidly. I was even looking for a window in my diary to ask my surgeon for a slight unfill. But it turned out I was also developing a cold and as my cold progressed (still coughing!), my band settled down and I while I definitely have more restriction, I am no longer feeling too tight.

LOL! This is so timely. My husband and I were chatting last night and we kept hearing an irregular clinking noise. After about 10 minutes of hunting for the source of this strange noise, we realised that my rings had become so loose that they were twisting on my fingers and clinking against each other!

SageTracey got a reaction from DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in C'mon, brag a little! :)
I hereby declare myself to be a band success story. I have lost more than 75% of my excess weight and I have rediscovered the joy of living. I love exercise, I think carefully about what I choose to eat, and I have much more energy.
My relationship with my husband is significantly improved (and it was great before) so lucky us!
I wish that I had never become morbidly obese in the first place, but I did so now I am proud to have overcome it.
It hasn't been easy, but I have always known what I needed to do and have the support of my dear husband and a great surgeon to get me there.

Congratulations on making sure that you are eating healthily.
Please continue to do so as you don't want to slip into an eating disorder now that you have taken such a positive step to manage your weight.

SageTracey reacted to kittyforet in Anyone else feel like a Lap Band failure?
Some days I feel like a failure. Not because I drink soda (I no longer desire it), but because I make a conscious choice to abandon what I was taught and ignore the rules. I have days where I eat the wrong things and don't exercise. I go through times where I wallow in self pity about how I'm not losing like I did in the beginning. But the one thing I cannot do, no matter how much I want to, is blame my band. It does its job; I am the one not following the rules.
So, that being said, I'm starting over. Following the rules but not throwing in the towel if I slip up. Picking myself back up after a bad day and reminding myself that I lost weight before and I can do it again if I follow the rules and toss out the bad food that goes right through the band. Just because I can eat or drink it doesn't mean I should and I have to get past that.
Make today the day that you start fresh. Follow the rules. Pick one goal this week and start making it happen. Drink 64+ oz of Water. Exercise 15-30 + minutes per day at least 3 times this week. Eat Protein first and stay away from soda and slider foods. Ignore stuff that doesn't help you personally. Every day is a new chance to do what's right.
I'm far from perfect and don't pretend to be, but I can start over and so can you. We all fall short at some point but we aren't perfect.
My goal this week is to drink 64 oz of water daily and exercise 4 days for at least 30 minutes. Already have one exercise session done, now to work on the water. I'm also tossing out the trash (chocolate candy) that is staring at me. It's not in my plan so it's gotta go away or I'll eat it until I am sick to my stomach.
Feel free to message me and we can hold each other accountable.
You can start over. You're worth it.

OP has posted in the POST-Op board and a quick look at her profile shows she had surgery on December 28 which makes her about two weeks post-op.
My gas pain was gone at about 11 days so if I was you, I would speak with your medical team.
Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon.

In some respects we have to go through a grieving process as we change our relationship with food. Sounds like that is what you are going through at the moment.
But be 100% sure that you can change your eating habits or you will have serious challenges with the band.
    Good luck.

I think her key message re the scales was buried and the important thing was : "let it be a tool for you to learn what a proper portion size looks like"
Once you know what a portion size looks like then you can cope better with eating out situations.

That is so frustrating, isn't it. But I've found that people can be hesitant to comment on your weight loss because they feel as if they are saying you looked really bad before!
Plus, if you are wearing the same clothes, it might not be as noticeable to them as you think.
Hang in there, they will notice and start commenting very soon!
PS Congratulations, You are doing great.

It's also a good test of how compliant you will be post-op. You've done it now, you know there could be consequences so firm up your resolve and stick with it to get the success you want.

They put curves/bends in freeways to keep drivers awake. Think of this as a bend in your highway that has woken you up. Now you know how close you came to crashing out you can refocus and concentrate on staying on track from here on in.
Good luck. You can do this.

SageTracey got a reaction from bronbegins in Water
Without knowing how long ago you were banded, it is not possible to say how you will go about drinking 3 litres of Water per day. In the early days you will find it difficult but it will get easier to drink greater quantities of Water the further out you are.
I drink at least 2 litres a day, often more. It's just a case of having my water always available and sipping frequently.
The important thing is to remember not to drink with food, nor for whatever period of time before and after food that your dr recommends. My surgeon says 30 mins either side of food and I have learnt to do that over time.
You are off to a great start in that you already drink so much water!
PS Nothing wrong with cappucino from my perspective, I have mine every day and am still losing weight. Down 64kg (144lb) so far.

This is a three-legged stool made up of the band, food and exercise. You will lose some, possibly even most of hour excess weight without exercise but it will be slower and harder.
I suspect you will also be at a greater risk of loose skin but that is not certain.
one benefit of losing weight is that you feel more active so, rather than exercising, why don't you take up activities that you enjoy?
    good luck
