I suffered too with all of the problems that the Lap Band brings with it. Throwing up EVERY meal that was not a liquid, reflux, wondering why I was not getting full after 2-3 bites then having those bites come up 5 minutes or sometimes an hour later, lost 60lbs then 4 years later gained it back, then found out the band slipped and had to be removed and that was why I gained the weight back. 5 years of misery. Finally I had it rremoved a month ago and had a revision to the sleeve. WOW, what a difference. Finally, something that actually does what they told me it would. I eat a couple bites and I am full. I am a month out and 22 lbs down and feel amazing. I finally feel like I have my life back

I was sleeved a month ago by Dr. Aceves and I had a great experience. I spent 3 nights in the hospital. Also, the hospital is about a mile across the border. Good luck!

I had a revision from band to sleeve done a month ago and I wish that I had the sleeve to begin with. I had so many issues with the band and I am just glad to finally have it out. I had the band removed and the sleeve done all in 1 surgery, no regrets....I love my sleeve!

This week makes 4 weeks post-op for me for my band to sleeve revision. I have lost 21 lbs so far and I feel great. I think the recovery was about the same as the band. I was walking the halls right out of recovery 4 weeks ago. I had the band for 5 years and experienced the same failures as you. It feels so good now to not have my food come back up to see me after taking 1 bite. This to me is way different than the band and I am sooooo glad that I did it. Just had a revision on 06/23/11 and my cost for the band to sleeve revision was $11,200 and worth every penny. I paid $17,000 for the Lap Band 5 years ago so this was actually cheaper for me than the band was. Dr. Aceves, Staff, & Hospital were awesome. I would do it all over again. I was back to work in 6 days and I am losing weight and feel fantastic. Good luck to you!

Yes we are all very real patients, LOL. I had a revision from band to sleeve on 6/23/11 and I am doing great. Like Foxbins stated my TV was high up on the wall as well so I am not sure, I would recommend bringing a lap top. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted.

I had the band removed and sleeve done all in one surgery 6/23/11. It's been a little over 2 weeks and I have lost 22lbs. Had the same issues with my band, slipped on me and left behind a lot of bad scar tissue. Went to Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. Experience was awesome, hospital was cleaner than any one I have ever been too. I received great care. Dr. Aceves removed all the bad scar tissue that the band left behind. I am so glad to see you are doing great too!!!

Well I can tell you that I was back to work in 6 days. I had the surgery Thursday June 23 and returned on Wednesday June 29th. Just keep in mind that everyone is different. Also, I saw you mentioned plane costs from San Diego. Dr. Aceves driver picked me up in San Diego and then drove me to Mexicali. If you live in San Diego then you would not have to fly at all. Just a suggestion. I know for me the 3 hour flight from San Diego back to Houston was a bit uncomfortable in those small/hard seats, LOL. Good luck to you!

No need to worry. I just returned home on Sunday after being sleeved by Dr. Aceves on Thursday and we were 4 ladies all there together. We were all very supportive of each other and made sure we were all okay and checked on one another. Once you get there I do not think that you will be alone. Awww Donnie, Im sorry to hear that. Dr aceves is wonderful and I think if he couldn't do it then it was in your best interest. At least u can go back once your healed and get the sleeve. I'm headed home today, at the airport now actually, feeling great.

I am here in Mexicali as we speak. I had lap band removed and revision to a sleeve by Dr. Aceves. I was up and walking the halls right out of recovery. Doctors, staff, and hospital are awesome. They come in my room at least 2 times a day to clean the bathroom and mop the floors. It is super clean here. I feel great and I get to go home tomorrow, yay

So I am sleeved now, yay. This was not nearly as bad as I thought. I was walking the halls right after I got out of the recovery room last night. Just wanted to give an update. Talk to you guys soon!

Well I should have came back to this thread to get my answer. I am so sorry to hear that you could not get your revision Donnie. I am here now, hoping that all is well for me to get the revision. You were right about the doctors, staff, and hospital. Everything is great!

I'm here in Mexicali awaiting my revision from band to sleeve tomorrow morning with Dr. Aceves. Any anxious and nervous feelings I had have pretty much vanished once I got here. Everyone is awesome. Can't wait.

I found out 2 weeks ago that my band has partially slipped. I am having a revision all in 1 shot on June 23 by Dr. Aceves in Mexico. I cannot wait to get this band out. I was banded in 2006, lost 60lbs initially but now gained it all back after having a baby. Threw up almost every meal for the past 5 years, heartburn/reflux almost every day, etc. I was self pay as well. Found out a couple weeks ago that my band has partially slipped and can slip completely at any given moment which would then cause me to have to go into an emergency surgery if that happens. I am DONE with this band. I am scheduled to have a revision from band to sleeve next week in Mexico with Dr. Aceves. I cannot wait to have this band out and hopefully start feeling better. I truly belive the sluggish/fatigue feeling I constantly have is from this band that has caused me nothing but trouble. I know some people have had great success with it, but a lot of people have had the same problems as you and I. I hope all works out for you. I really cannot answer your questions now, but I will be more than happy to answer them all after next week, once I am sleeved. Good Luck!

I have my revision from band to sleeve scheduled on June 23rd (Next Thursday). I have had the band for 5 years and during that 5 years I threw up almost every meal. If I ate to much I would get a horrible pain in my side or in port area. I went a few weeks back for an Upper GI X-Ray to check on the band and found out that it has partially slipped. It can slip completely at any given moment and then I would have to have an emergency surgery. I cannot wait until next week to have this band out and be DONE with it. I have lived 5 years of misery, not be able to eat healthy, throwing up meals, and just feeling like crap. I so wish that the sleeve would have been an option at the time that I got my band so I could have saved myself another surgery down the road. Ask your doctor to do an upper GI on you to check the placement of your band. I really do wish you all the best and I am sure you will make the best decision for yourself. It seems like most of you on this thread are new sleevers, congrats. I will have a band to sleeve revision on June 23rd and was wondering if any of you have recommendations or can tell mw what things fall under the "clear" liquids diet? Thanks!
