Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
My surgeon was Dr. Janos Taller with Pacific Bariatric in San Diego, CA. He's a fantastic surgeon with wonderful bedside manner! I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Well, HELLO VST!!
Welcome!!

So frustrated and confused!
I'm sorry that you're so frustrated. I'm not even two weeks out and probably not the best person to respond here, but I think you should give it time. It looks like you're doing everything that you're supposed to do. I would probably try to increase your activity slowly. Maybe just add five or ten minutes of walking per day?

3 weeks post op- Ode to an egg!
Glad to hear that the egg went down easily and the cottage cheese! I'm 11 days out from surgery and so far I'm down 18 pounds since surgery and 58 pounds total! I am very much looking forward to Thursday when I can finally eat some real food again!!! I'm currently trying to decide what that is going to be. I can't do eggs unfortunately, but I'm thinking refried Beans or cottage cheese. liquids are going down much easier and I've been able to get in 2 Protein shakes per day which puts me around 40 grams of protein. I'm also hitting much closer to 50 ounces of liquid. This week my focus is going to be on increasing my exercise and getting things down a little faster so I'm not drinking literally from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night.

Done lurking, saying hello now.

That food pain in the chest
How big are your bites? Maybe take the first bites as teeny tiny bites and see if you still have the same reaction. Do you have the same reaction with liquids? Have you tried drinking a little to get your system up and running before you try eating?

Did I just sabotage everything?
Congrats on the weight loss despite the chicken tenders and beer. Don't beat yourself up about it. You still have time to lose more, no problem! It gets so much easier after surgery, so keep your chin up!

Major Complications
I am so glad to hear that your fiancee is home!!!! That is exciting. I'm also thrilled to hear that they fixed the leak and she's on the road to recovery. In the hospital I experienced the same thing. They gave me nasty lemon swabs to moisten my mouth, but they made me sick to my stomach. Finally, I was allowed to rinse my mouth out with water which was like heaven!! She may be able to rinse her mouth out with water or crystal light as long as she doesn't swallow anything, but I'm not a doctor so you probably should ask first.

Not Ready For Surgery
I had to wait 5 months from the time I got my surgery date until I got sleeved and food funerals took place on a weekly basis. Don't beat yourself up about it, just watch the quantity because you don't want to gain a bunch of weight before surgery. I still have trouble remembering that I haven't said goodbye to my favorites forever, just for now. I agree with Holly, make sure that you're comfortable with your decision before you go into surgery. Good luck and we're always here for you if you have questions or need a little pick me up!

Red Velvet Gang- How Ya Doing?
They told me not to weigh myself for the first week because of all the fluid retention. They said that most people gain weight because of all the iv's.

Patiently awaiting 7/12/11!!
aww you're getting sleeved on my birthday!

Pre-surgery anxiety, jitters normal?!?!?

Red Velvet Gang- How Ya Doing?
I can only drink a half ounce at a time without pain. I'm actually doing much better with the fluids this afternoon than I was this morning. I've also been drinking every fifteen minutes, which is very helpful.

is anyone losing weight on the "pre"pre op diet?
I noticed that too Kelly. I like our ticker!

For those who had to pay a portion of cost, WHEN did you have to pay it?
I have a deductible plan so I had to pay $1100 to meet my deductible and I also had to pay my hospital copay of $500 per day.

is anyone losing weight on the "pre"pre op diet?
Keep in mind that you've only been working on it for a week and a half. During my 12 week classes I found that I lost one week and gained the next. You're absolutely not a failure, I have a lot of friends who didn't lose anything, a couple who gained, and some who lost a lot more than I did. Good luck!

Red Velvet Gang- How Ya Doing?
I'm 7 days out and still have to work to get in 30 oz. of fluids. I feel very uncomfortable after every sip, and I get gas bubbles if I try to go faster. My surgeon wants me taking in 64 ounces and the thought of that right now is completely overwhelming! On a positive note: walking is super easy and I'm down 10.5 pounds from surgery day!!!

I lost 30 pounds during my 12 week classes. Writing things down is always helpful, I also cut out eating out and added in the occasional protein shake. I lost a total of 40 pounds before surgery because three weeks before my surgery I had to do an all liquid diet, 2 protein shakes and soup only. Hard but worth it.
