  1. I am doing well. Stopped the drugs Friday night. Getting up and down can be painful. ie. chair to standing, getting out of bed, etc., but it's better every day.About once aday I grind up two tylenol and wash them down with crystal lite.Energy is good, but I think it will be a week before I am back to normal. Little shakey sometimes. Not really hungry but the chobolate muscle milk lite was a treat. The smell of the chicken and meatloaf being cooked in the kitchen didn't really bother me. I see the doctor Fri and hope to graduate to soft food then.
  2. Went in Wed morning to GBMC in Towson. Took a nap in the OR and woke up in recovery. Pain like a bad stomach ache. 4 holes and a JP drain. Hospital was great. Cute nurses. Walk and sip, Walk and sip. Had trouble sleeping Went home Fri afternoon. Pretty miserable Fri thru Sat morning. Gas Gas Gas. Walk drink walk. Yea Gas -X strips and Prevacid. Felt good Saturday night, slept well, started full liquids today. So far, OK More later.
  3. and I'm nervous. Maybe it's the two days on clear liquids that is making me feel weird. Surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30AM. Wish me luck.

I have gout. It's very painful. I really hope that the weight loss from the sleeve helps eradicate it. Anyone have experience with this? I was trying things for my upcoming clear diet and made and ate some Miso Soup and it triggered a gout flare. I guess it was the high salt and the bean curd.
  5. Wow, didn't know there was a man room. I'm in. Surgery 2/9/11 Was 5'7" 355 lbs. Now 344lbs and on the two week pre-surgery diet. GBMC and Dr. Moen in Towson MD are doing the deed.
  6. Jeez, if my girlfriend were as heavy as I am, and wanted to have the sleeve to lose weight, I would encourage her. Va Va Voom.. Hot stuff.. Oh Boy... Then I would just have to treat her even more special so she wouldn't run off with some other dude. I am secure enough about my own self and abilities to not really worry about that. She actually asked if I were going to look around after I lose the weight and get in shape. I said that when I stop looking at women I will be dead, but that she is stuck with me for as long as she can put up with me. ps: I am a widower and was married for 27 yrs before my sweetie passed away from cancer.
  7. I note that most folks on this site are female. That's fine with me as I love women So first, guys shout out so we can get a count of how many of us there are. Most replies and stories are from/about women. But, I think some of the problems and issues men have with VSG are different than what women have. Would you like to see a men's section to discuss male specific problems?
  8. 21 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks and you are disappointed?
  9. No, not everyone has problems with this! My girlfriend, and my son are very supportaive. My girlfriend is even taking vacation to stay with me post surgery to help out.
  10. +1 above. I have used a bipap for 6 yrs. I sleep all through the night. I use a nasal pillow mask. (ResMed Swift FX) which to me is much better than a coverage mask. I just switched from bipap to auto titrate prior to surgery.
  11. I'm with you. I live within 15 minutes of Hopkinsm but my time is certainly more valuable than that which they are offering. $2500 for 22 9 hr days? That's $12/hr not including travel and mileage. That is equivalent to about a $20k/yr full time job.
  12. The hospital called today and informed me I am insurance approved. BCBS National Account. Date set: Feb 9th 7:00AM GBMC Towson, MD Started 2 week pre-op diet today.
  13. Palin is a fruitcake. Lets see you refudiate that.
  14. First, they don't get the full amount. It's discounted. Second, do you have any idea what it costs to run a Hospital?
  15. The premixed ones don't change as they sit around. I like Muscle Milk Lite Chocolate. Sometimes I mix it a bit with decaf cofee.. Ymmmm...
  16. For 100 mil I would lose it in 6 months. But, then I would gain it back in one or two years and be right where I am now.
  17. Muscle Milk Lite Chocolate. Some Grocery stores, definitely GNC.
  18. Alan here. Feb 9th. Dr. Moen @ GBMC, Towson MD Insurance approval today 1/26/11
  19. My Nut recommends Muscle Milk Lite. I drink several bottles a day. Also Isopure, diluted 50%.
  20. Yes, so I joined weight watchers. Used the online tools and went to meetings and lost 23 lbs in 6 months. Surgery Feb 9th.
  21. So, what's the group wisom on this? I am addicted to Carnation Non-dairy no sugar vanilla caramel creamer in my decaf espresso coffee in the morning. One of my great pleasures. I get sleeved Feb 9th. Once I am off clears, I intend to try this. Anyone think this is problematic? Thanks
  22. Ask him nicely? Why don't you just ask him to quit being a schmuck and trying to sabotage you. I mean really. Is he that dumb?
  23. Your body is sending you a message.
  24. Jeez folks. I guess I don't understand. If your doctor says not to drink carbonation why do it. It ain't that great. It just seems to me that doing things your doctor tells you not to do is self-sabotage. Self-sabotage is one of the many reasons we got outselves in this fix in the first place.
