  1. Congratulations!!! I too am looking forward to weighing less than my husband. About 8 months ago he started exercising and watching what he ate and he looks and feels great now. Even though he is about 8 inches taller than me and I know I should (AND SOMEDAY WILL) weigh much less than him, that is one of many of my goals that I have set for myself.
  2. I am so confused by all the different Protein drinks out there? I think I have narrowed it down to a choice of 3. Muslce Milk, Muscle Milk Light or GNC Pro Performance AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. I have tried them all in the flavor of chocolate and to me they all taste good. I will be starting my pre-op diet in October, my surgery date is Nov 15 and I want to get the most/best results I can from the pre-op diet and also from the honeymoon stage/losing stage right after surgery. Do I pay more attention to the protein or the carbs or the calories? I talked to a sales rep at GNC and we figured out/decided that the GNC one requires 3 scoops to get their hign protein numbers, but if I actually use 1 scoop, which is the same amount for Muscle Milk then all the numbers for these 3 items are closer in range to each other. Experienced sleevers please help clear up some of this confusion for me on which one will be better for me to drink. THANKS!!!
  3. I haven't tried any of the meal replacements yet, but I LOVE the Strawberry flavored vitamin. So far, it's the best out of all the others that I have tried.
  4. I'm not having mine done at BAMC but at BMI in the Medical Center in San Antonio on Nov 15, 2011. When is your surgery date? Nice to know there is/will be someone close by who is going thru the same thing at probably close to the same time.
  5. So far 4 out of the 20 that I set for my Oct 31 goal. I haven't had my surgery yet, (Nov 15, 2011) but I'm ready to jump on-board. SN....................Starting Wt..............Current...........Goal..........Lbs to Goal Knee2010.......235.5.......................209..................189............20 ......................................................205...................189...........16
  6. I haven't had my surgery yet, my packet will be sent to my insurance this week for approval, but I have been reading as many of these posts as I can so I can learn as much as I can about what to expect. I keep seeing PPI mentioned, I know it has something to do with acid, but exactly what does PPI stand for? Thanks!
  7. Thanks, I was hoping that's how it would work out. I plan on taking 1 week off after the surgery and then maybe half days if I needed to. I have an office/desk job, so I'm thinking (hoping) my energey level will be OK since I sit most of the day.
  8. I haven't been sleeved yet, probably in the next 2-3 months but I've been following this site and learning a lot about what to expect. I have a question that I haven't seen before. Before the sleeve whenever I tried to diet, I would sometimes get kinda dizzy and weak from lack of food. I know after the sleeve you can only eat teeny tiny amounts so what keeps you from getting that weak or dizzy feeling or even a light-headed feeling? I realize your body has to (and will) adjust to the small amount of food/drink intake, but until it does are you susceptible to the physical side effects of trying to diet? Thanks.
  9. Meggie, I just went to fatsecret.com and signed up with them. Thanks for that tip! I am in my 2nd month of my 4 month pre op diet so I am expecting to have my surgery sometime in Sept/Oct timeframe. But I have started reading/following this site and have gotten a lot of my questions answered. This is a great place to learn and hopefully get an idea of what I am "really" getting ready to go thru.
  10. I started my 12 week insurance diet on Monday 5/23. As of today I haven't lost any weight yet, but I am hopefull that I will, especially since I am eating a lot less that I usually do. My insurance doesn't require me to loose any weight before the surgery but my NUT said she would like me to loose 10 pounds during these 12 weeks. It doesn't sound like much, so I hope I can. I don't have a surgery date yet, but it sounds like we could possibly be done around the same time.
  11. I meet with the NUT this Friday to start my 4 month pre-op diet. What can I expect? How did everybody else do on theirs? How hard is it to stay on their monitored diet and what happens on the days that I eat to much? I'm afraid I won't do well, since in my mind if I could follow a sensible diet then I wouldn't be here now.
  12. I have been reading a lot of the stories here, I am just getting started in this process and I have a question. What is a NSV? Thanks!
