    Motivation

I am also in the looong waiting game. My surgery isn't until May. I have started reducing my soda and coffee intake by half. I heard that caffine withdrawals can be a pain...literally, so I am doing it gradually. Next month I will go down the other 50% so I can start learning good habits to replace my soon be gone current ones. I am working on my behavior modification by taking it week to week with the intent of being "ready" one full month before my surgery. This includes weight loss, drinks, foods...including tasting what kind of purees I am going to like and soups etc. I hope you take the time to read serveral thread here...these people are a huge support and help for resources, recipes, etc. Good luck and be well. Rob

    I am sleeved!

How goes life at work now Barb? Your arm doing better? Good to hear things like this with days ups and downs, so I can know what I can expect in the future. Rob
  8. I do not have surgery til May, but I want to wish all of you luck, especially you Bella. I hope you keep your weight down pre-op so there is no cancellation. I have wanted to do the same as you about dumping things out of my kitchen and dumping stuff out of the house. LOL...I have months to do it. My wife said that we should not dump out everything in the fridge and cupboard because they still live here and they will eat as before LOL...gonna have to be ok with this one I think. It will be fine. Again, good luck to everyone having there surgeries in the weeks to come. Peace, Rob

    Making a List

I am going to this Tiff! It describes exactly what I will probably feel and the end were good words to live by. Thanks so much for your comment!! I will post a blog to say what the doctor had to say.

    Making a List

I was supposed to see my doctor today, but I have 2 sick kids at home. This would have been the first actual visit with my doctor since the pre-op exam and education. I have been making a list of all the things I want to talk to him about. One of the things is his opinion on a psych consultation. I have had a bit of anxiety, but mostly just trying to figure out what I relationship is to food. Sometimes I feel like I have a decent relationship with food, then I think it is a bit extreme. I do not gorge myself ever, but I do have a sweet tooth. One of my things is avoiding the sweets, but I have been pretty decent this past month. Another thing on my list is the pre-op diet, the protein intake afterwards, drinks, etc. I, of course, have found this site to be my best resource for resources. Thanks for everyone here. I will keep reading and adding to the list. Just got off the phone with the doctors office, now I go in on Thursday. YAY!

    So anxious

Thanks Chandra for your words and the website resource. I will definately check it out. I am involved already on YouTube with a WLGroup and as a vlogger. I love seeing other people succeed at stuff. It is so encouraging. I will keep you posted. Go to see the doctor on Thursday to talk to him for the first time since this process began. Rob :confused1:
  13. Seeing how I am like 10 hours ahead of CA time...I decided to post this now before you wake up =9. I am holding you in my prayers that your nerves settle, for the surgeons hands to be precise, for your recovery to be quick, and most of all for you to finally be where you want with your weight. Be well, my friend...I look forward to your updates. Peace, Rob

Awesome to hear you are doing so well. Maybe you can help ME. A couple people have talked about this Wii Fit...what is it? Is it a scale or is it the game? Please, educate me. =)

    Dealing with Pre-Op Anxiety?

Bambi, this will help me!! I am going to take some snap shots and a video of myself and put them in my laptop, so I can have them with me when I am in the hospital. I am going to go take out all my "skinny" clothes and put on what fits now. Look at what I have waiting for me in the months to come. I know I so look forward to looking better. Anxiety is part of this process, but I think Tiff and the others had great ideas. I, myself, try to find my "happy place" and stay focused on the positives. I had thought about seeing a psychiatrist before hand, I have decided to ask my doctor what he thinks, but it might be a good idea. Good luck!!! Rob
  16. Good luck with your surgery! I hope that you have a problemless surgery and post-op! Rob

    VSG first Blog Ever

Welcome to the forum PtoS. Gratz on your date. I am still learning about the diet prior to surgery myself. I have seen a few different ones...it has been based a lot on your doctors wishes for you - some are conservative and some are aggressive. Good luck on your research, diet, and surgery...the people here are fantastic and very supportive. Rob

    So anxious

Diane, Gratz on getting your pre-exam and testing done. I am done as well. I have a tentative date in May. I do understand what you are feeling. You have 6-8 weeks and I have about 4 months - it feels exactly the same hehe. I, like you, want to get it done NOW. I live in Norway and had made arrangements already to go on vacation to see my family in the USA in April. They wanted to do the surgery in March. I, of course, booked my tickets about a week before I called into to do my pre-exam and testing. It is ALL I can think about. I am on this site, like, 2-3 times a day. I am a sleeve addict right now LOL! Good luck in the quickest date possible. Keep us posted, I will be following your progress =) Rob

    Gallstones it is. . .

Tiff, I have heard that you can have gallbladder issues with rapid weight loss. Sorry to hear that you were so plagued by it. Percocets didn't help? Wow, definately ask for more pain meds =) You are in my thoughts and prayers. Be well and may you have a quick, safe, recovery. Rob
  24. I have battled with my body for the past 25 years...16 of which I have had Type II Diabetes. Over the years I have been trying to keep the weight off. Sometimes I have been very rebellious and ate what I darn well wanted to - of course, I paid for it too. I have always been on medication for the diabetes and have managed to dodge the insulin need. Last year, my doctor decided to have a long talk with me and we decided together, that the best thing for me would be to have WLS. I had in my thoughts, that I would lose weight the "normal" way this whole last year...and that was an epic FAIL. As a New Year's resolution, I was determined I would DO IT!! I have been successfully working out regularly, eating right, and feeling good about my crashing blood sugars (a good sign I am doing all the right things). My body has been telling me that with the right formula of diet and exercise I have no need for medication. BUT my weight has not been dropping off and I do not know why. I have lost 5 lbs in 3-4 weeks. Frustrating, but now, I believe my body needs more. 2 weeks ago I got my letter to report to the hospital for education and pre-surgery exam. It got me to thinking...do I need it? Should I do it? Ups and downs, Robert...lack of ability to keep it off - ya, I believe now, I need it. May is when it will happen. An actual date will be produced between now and the end of February. I will keep everyone appraised of the actual date. I am both nervous and excited. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Peace, Rob
