  1. Wow! You say you have 29 lbs to go and your a size 8 now? You are gonna be so skinny,
  2. I'm 9 weeks out and sweet things don't taste right to me either. I used to have a crazy sweet tooth. Brownies, donuts, cookies. You name it. Now, I couldn't care less about sweets. My daily protein shake is good enough for me. I'm shocked about it acutally. I hope it stays that way.
  3. I would recommend someone going with you. I went to Mexico in July and brought my mom. I needed her so much while I was there. Help me to the bathroom, put a movie in, help me to explain what I wanted to the nurse, hey, just keep me company. Of course you can do it alone but if possible, you should try to bring someone.
  4. Hi sweetlover, (I like your name, by the way.) Ya know the little bit of time I "Regret" the surgery is so little compared to all the times I was majorly depressed about being overweight. Before I was sad all the time about it. All the time!! Now every once in a while I think about Thanksgiving and Christmas coming and I won't be able to pig out. that's ok. I am going to lose while everyone else gains this year. Thats a great thing!!
  5. It's all I think about too. Can't wait to go to bed so I can get up and weigh myself. I know, shouldn't weigh myself every day. Anyway, I'm only at the 2 month mark but I've lost 30 lbs so far. An average of 15 lbs per month. I'm happy with that.
  6. sharold7 - what are you doing on here?
  7. I felt lousy too. Hey, its only been 3 days now. You will feel better each day. I'm sure in just a few more days and yo will be very glad you had surgery. I had the surgery with Dr. Corvala on July 16th and I have lost 28 lbs. I'm very, very glad I had it done. Just get through the next couple of days. It will get much better. Hang in there.:huh0:
  8. I can't seem to figure out how to do the ticker weight thing. I go to the website, fill it out. But how do you get it to your profile? :confused1:
  9. I also had the surgery in TJ with Dr. Corvala. Ditto on everytheing CKnorte said. Everything went smoothly without a hitch. I would recommend it to anyone including my family, which I'm already trying. I have lost 24 lbs now. A little hunger sometimes but I very quickly fill up. that half a cup of spaghetii and sauce sounds about right. It's funny, when I ate before I would full gradually and even after being full could still continue eating for awhile. Now, I get full very quickly and can't eat another bite. Its great!!
  10. Congrats on your sizes!! I know what you mean about not spending alot of money on clothes. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and I've gone from a 22w down to a straight 18. I had a few things in size 18 but not much. I'll have to go to the thrift stores to find something to tide me over. Again, good job! Doesn't it feel good!!
  11. I had my surgery with Dr. Corvala in TJ. Check him out. Great Doc and hospital. He's done the most plications. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I had my plication on July 16th.
  12. Congrats on your decision! I had the plication on July 16th with Dr. C also. Everything went without a hitch. If you know any Mexican, great. If you don't, its not a big deal. They know basic words and if they don't know what you are talking about ask if someone else knows more English. The Dr's know English perfectly. It's a beautiful hospital and very, very clean. Do you have trouble with acid reflux now? You will be given a nutrition sheet and it will tell you take something for that. Like Nexium or Previcid. Good luck in your new adventure. Feel free to e-mail or ask any questions. Julie:001_rolleyes:
  13. I totally agree Kathy. Can't wait to see a year down the line. I put on a size 18 capris today. Not 18w. Just 18. It's my last pair. Everything else is too big. I'm holding off on getting anything until its cold enough out for pants. Won't be that much longer here in Minnesota.
  14. My insurance would cover but only with medical issues. Then if I could get past that hurdle it would still cost 15,000.00 Ugh. I went to Mexico for 7,000.00
  15. I know I read an article a few weeks ago why we shouldn't drink while eating but can't find it. Can anyone help?
  16. I know I'm not at goal YET but hey its only been 1 month. 1/4 sounds good. At the rate I'm going I'll be at goal in the late spring. I started out at 233 now I'm 211. Getting closer to the 100's!:confused1:
  17. You are absolutely right nurse_ally. We HATE being fat! That's why we had this surgery. We want to be healthy! That's why we had this surgery. We want to jog around the block, wear cute clothes, get looks from guys (oops, don't tell my husband.) sit on the floor and get up easily, not worry about getting diabetes, sore knees, etc. Hey, this is for me too. I have eaten the way I want for the last 46 years and now its time to be healthy. Sure, I wish I could eat 4 big pieces of pizza. Those days are over. It's ok, now I get to be healthy and cute.
  18. You are doing awesome, Carol!! Sounds like you are going headfirst toward your new you! I've been doing a walking video. (Notice I said video.) It's an old one but still gives me a good workout. I actually sweat, LOL. Getting into new foods is great, isn't it? I can't wait to hear what you lost!!
  19. I too had thought about the lapband. I actually made an appointment with Dr. Kuri for the surgery. I continued to read about issues that were affecting some people and decided I wasn't willing to go that route. I did have the plication with Dr. Corvala. It went great. It has been almost 4 weeks now and I have lost 13 lbs. The whole experience went without a hitch. The hospital staff and Dr's are wonderful. Nothing to worry about.
  20. Thanks for the encouragement. My BMI was 36. I have 63 lbs left to lose. I guess it is more than I normally lose in this time period. I guess I just needed to vent. Thanks or listening.
  21. When I see the weight loss from everyone it is hard to not be discouraged. I had my sleeve on July 16th. So now its been 3 and half weeks. I've only lost 13 lbs. I did lose 7 lbs pre-op. I;ve always been a slow loser no matter what diet I've been on but I thought this would be different. I eat between 600-800 calories a day. Anyone else like this? I need some encouragement.
  22. Congrats on your 21 in 21! That great!!! Wouldn't that be cool if it would continue to go that way. Sounds like you're disciplined in weighing only once per week. I just can't do that. I find myself on the scale every day. I know, I know. I shouldn't do that.
  23. Hey, you had your surgery the day before mine at the same hospital. Did you by any chance talk to my mom and I? She had blonde hair and glasses. I talked to you in my room and I was still in bed. You were getting around great. Just wondering if that was you? My name is Julie and my mom's name is Sharon.:confused1:
  24. Yes, us plicationer's should stay in touch. Dr. Corvala did tell me since this surgery is so new there isn't alot of data from years of experience telling us the long term effects. I guess that makes a tiny bit concerned. Does that piece of stomach that is rolled up just sit there? Would it ever die? I don't know. Just thinking out loud. How are you guys doing with your food now. Still at the mushy stage. I admit I've had some harder food. I find out that it can hurt some. I had some beef meatvballs the other day. They hurt. I had some frosted mini wheats (I know, bad) without milk. They hurt. the soft stuff feels the best but what I wouldn't give for a big slice of pizza with everything. MMMMMMM! Remember the good old days. Julie
