  1. Glad to be back home again. The doctor doesn't know what caused it. With me being so far out it was a really weird situation. I went to the grocery store right after I left the hospital and it was a bit much walking all around the store so I decided to work from home today and tomorrow so I can rest some more, I didn't want to overdo it. Thankfully I have that ability with my job. I might work from home every day if I didn't have my team at the office that I needed to be there for. I feel pretty good today. All of the stabbing pain is gone and it doesn't hurt to take deep breaths anymore. I am totally on board with the liquids because it seems like I still might be a bit irritated or inflammed. Too big a swallow hurts going down and I don't think solids (or anything bigger than a tictac as my dr would say) would feel good going down right now.
  2. Saw my surgeon, he was surprised i had a small leak, it could have been something I ate that caused it. I am back to stage 1 clears post-op diet and I will stay on stage 1,2,3 clears/full/puree for the next couple weeks. I am being released tomorrow.
  3. I have a friend who was 425 lbs and went to the Duke diet and fitness center for 3 months and when he came home he subscribed to diets to go.com and had all of his food delivered. He had the money to do it but that is not an option for most of us. He was down to like 180 i think and has kept it off. Also at the time he did it, he wasn't married and had no kids which makes it a bit easier as well.
  4. thank you for the well wishes. The interesting part in all of this is i don't at all feel sick. The only issue is that random pain really. So here i sit, waiting for my surgeon to show up. I've seen several of his PAs and today is a surgery day for him so he is in the building. They said he should be here before noon more than likely. Still can't have anything by mouth. I never imagined having a small leak at this point, this far out. I guess anything can happen.
  5. well I called the doctor this morning and he said to go to the ER. I did and that is where I still am at the moment. they did bloodwork and a CT Scan with contrast and see that my stomach is a bit irritated and it looks like I had/have a micro-perforation. They said they saw some air outside of my stomach. My surgeon decided he wanted to admit me and give me antibiotics for 48 hours (that was unexpected). So here I sit with an IV and nothing by mouth all day today. They are watching me for increased pain or fever. I probably should have come to the ER on Saturday. Will let you know what happens.
  6. Wow you look great, Congrats =)
  7. So ever since Friday i haven't been feeling all that great. I was feeling a bit swimmy in the head and my insides actually felt sore. It almost felt like I was coming down with something. Last week I found out my thyroid was way out of whack so instead of hypo i was hyper. My Doc changed my dosage and the swimmy feelings went away. I still felt sore inside and it hurt mildly to take a deep breath. I was thinking because I started taking Iron may be I was constipated, I took some miralax. Friday I felt so full and couldn't eat anything after my attempt at lunch. Well it doesn't appear as though I am constipated and I still feel sore inside and randomly without warning I get a pain in my left abdomen that makes me cringe. It really has me baffled. I don't feel full anymore and am able to eat normally. I am not one to freak out but I can't imagine what it could be. I will be calling the surgeon's office tomorrow. I am 11 weeks out. Does anyone have a similar experience? Just looking for clues.
  8. Thanks everyone. There was a typo in the before weight which I noted when I edited the post. I was 363 the day before surgery.
  9. So I went over a friend's house I haven't seen in many many years and we took a photo before I left. I decided to compare it to the photo I took the day before surgery. I can't see much of a difference yet but I definitely feel a lot different now. My feet don't hurt and I don't get winded easily anymore. I am still wearing the same size clothes although some things are getting a little baggy. Just thought I would share. I also chopped of 8 inches from my hair since then too. Edit: Whoops the photo should say day before surgery 363, sorry typo.....
  10. My hair is coming out quite a bit as well. I luckily had a lot of hair to begin with. At the hairdresser today I had it cut to my shoulders probably about 8 inches off and she looked and said it she didn't see any large patches that is it coming out all around. Hopefully this will stop sooner rather than later.
  11. I think the bigger the size you are the longer you can wear certain sizes. I literally have a closet full of 4x tops, with a couple 3x, and some of them are huge on me and I am ready to toss out and others a fitting nicely now. Still can't wear a 3x t shirt I have. I have lost 64 lbs and wearing bascially the same sized clothes still. I did throw out all my old bras and am wearing ones now that used to be tight on me. I am guessing I will have to go down quite a bit more before I can actually drop sizes. It is so hard to gauge. The two pair of jeans I have are too baggy on me now and I am very hesitant to buy any more becuase they can be costly.
  12. Thank you for all the suggestions. I typically don't eat breakfast until I get into the office either so i do have time in the morning to try some different stuff. The coffee idea from Tiffykins might work and I'll see if that helps. This morning I decided to have a protein shake first thing instead of trying to feed myself something heavy.
  13. I am not much of a dress person myself but perhaps you can wear a dress that doesn't bind at the waist.
  14. I had the exact same thing happening once I had lost a little weight. I was swallowing air and it was so uncomfortable in the morning. My pressure was originally set at 11 and I was going to call the medical supply company to have someone come out and adjust it but the great folks on this forum suggested I look up my model CPAP and you can find out how to adjust your pressure. My pressure is now set to 8 and I do not swallow anymore air and seem to be sleeping better than before for sure. I am not sure why your doctor said that is ok for you to swallow air, the machine shouldn't make you uncomfortable.
  15. I had that exact same dent and was worried he stitched me up wrong. It is completely gone now. That is where I had most pain when coughing or sneezing and laughing too. That incision was the limiting factor for how soon I was able to side and stomach sleep as well.
  16. I had the same instructions as Bryn. As long as I wan't taking any narcotics.
  17. I eat pork, chicken, steak, ground beef, scallops, shrimp, clams, etc....I am not really hung up on the whole "breakfast" food category either but my stomach seems to be sensitive in the morning and was concerned about eating the meat for breakfast. Mornings are hard during the week because I don't have time to prepare anything right then so it would have to be leftovers which I usually take to work for my lunch. I have a whole roaster chicken in my fridge, maybe I will try to have some of that tomorrow morning and see what happens.
  18. So I went to my 2 month follow up today and the doctor is concerned about the things I have been eating for Breakfast, he wants me to get more Protein. I did explain to him that my stomach is a bit more temperamental in the morning. I have been eating cream of wheat or yogurt and he thinks I should be eating more protein rich foods. Half of an english muffin with Peanut Butter on it works for my stomach well but I can't eat that every day and I doubt my doctor wants me eating half of an english muffin. I cannot eat eggs, my stomach doesn't like them or breakfast sausage at this point. Bacon works but again I can't eat that every day. I do not like greek yogurt or cottage cheese. Any ideas? perhaps someone will mention something I didn't think of.
  19. I am 39 yrs old and also have hypothyroidism. I am still fairly new with the sleeve only 9 weeks in. I have lost a total of 64 lbs which is a lot but not in comparision with how much I have to lose. My primary doc is monitoring me to reduce my synthroid levels as I lose weight. As soon as she found out I was having the surgery she lowered me from 150 mcg to 132 mcg a day. I just had my blood drawn two days ago and I suppose I will find out this week if my meds will stay the same or change. I don't feel that having the hypothyroidisn has hindered my weight loss so far, but I would guess like most people once I get to a point where I don't have a lot left to go it will get more difficult.
  20. I had a 6 month requirement of nutrition visits as well. I didn't try to lose anything there either. Once I started my pre-op diet which ended up being like 6 weks long (longer than most people) I lost 22lbs.
  21. I am a pretty big person and I had really bad muscular pain at my incision sites any twisting or straining was bad. The first couple days at home I slept in a recliner. I then moved to the bed but could only sleep on my back. After about a week or so I was finally able to sleep on my side and it was a good two weeks before I could sleep on my stomach which I prefer.
  22. I had surgery on May 3rd so it has been over 9 weeks now. Up to about a week or two ago, I was not necessarily feeling buyers remorse but just angry about the fact that I ended up having to come to this. I had a very non eventful surgery. No gas pain whatsoever, incision pain only, only took pain meds that first day. I have learned I definitely need to take a PPI because the acid sucks. I am starting to learn my limitations and try to stay away from them. I cannot eat regular bread, buns, bagels, and Pasta. I can eat rice, couscous, and those friehoffer sandwich thins on occasion. I eat pretty darn normally. Going to restaurants which was something my husband and I used to love to do every week can be challenging, I have gone out to eat twice since surgery and I did fine and I enjoyed it and had lots of leftovers. I have been lucky that I have had no real complications and have only vomited twice since surgery. I have lost 64 lbs that I otherwise would definitely not have lost on my own. My feet don't hurt like they used to, I don't get winded walking from my car to my office, i can go up flights of stairs relatively easy and I was able to turn the pressure down on my CPAP machine about 4 points, can't wait to never have to use it again and I have only lost about 20% of my excess weight. I can only imagine what it will be to lose 50% or more of that. How can I regret it? There is no way possible. I may get angry about not being able to eat certain things but that is my fat self being spoiled rotten like I have been for the last 18 years when I started putting on the weight. Eating what I want whenever I wanted is what got me in trouble in the first place. There are so many folks on here, even those who have had serious complications and made it through, who will tell you they do not regret it one bit.
  23. Ready for a new challenge, hoping I can make my goal to be out of the 300s forever by then. The last time I was under 300 was about 7 years ago. SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Chicadee..........326..................326...........299............27
