I had my banding on the 5th of July and now I am hungry every 4 hrs. And the hunger pains are horrible..I have to eat like right now or else it gets worse...the hunger pains wake me out my sleep. Is this normal..does it eventually go away? Also having bad back pains, docrtor says its gas, but the pain is so unbearable at times. One last thing is i keep having indigestion..but im thinking they are more like spasms...anyone have this problem? Ann

Had my surgery yesterday and was released that evening..but the dirve home was horrible..my back was so sore from the 2 1/2 hr drive..i will give more details in the morning..had rough time trying to find confortable position to sleep Ann

Today is my surgery. I think I am on the bandsters list as it being yesterday, but that was my preop day, I was told when I went to pre op that I am being admitted as an inpatient for my surgery but I may be able to go home this evening. I am praying I go home this evening, we are 2 !/2 hours from home and already homesick lol. I am having hernia removed along with lapband. So many emotions right now, including the dreaded negative ones. But I refuse to let the negative emotions get the best of me. This is my last official posting on this side of the banding line and I will see you guys on the other side. Ann

I wish you luck, do you have anything else that can fray the cost, like a hernia? My dr put in to tricare and i was approved same day. I am with tricare south and i heard they are pretty good at doing the approvals. Ann

You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty at all...just like others I was not put on a diet at all..Had my preop today and the anastesiologist(spelling) told me to go home and have a good meal and he will see me in the morning...I was like..wth! I can eat! really..he started laughinhg and said yeah..I just knew I would be put on a liquid diet for the day before surgery, so my big dinner was freaking burger king lol..we traveled 2 1/2 hrs so dont know the area and that was the only thing across from the hotel ..lol. I am so nervous and excited at same time. They did tell me that I was being registered as an inpatient. So I may not get to go home tomorrow..but thats ok..a full night of the IV drugs and being pampered lol. I wish you luck and I am so stoked for you. Ann

welcome to the board..thought I say Hi since I was born and raised in Jax..I do frequent the area since thats where my family is. I will be banded on wed, so excited..have you gotten a date yet or you in the beginning stages?

reading all the posts are so inspirational..I am still waiting but july 6th is right around the corner so I am so so stoked, as I ready all the success stories it makes me wanna go camp out in front of the surgery center until my day comes lol..good job on all the hard work and I will be joining you soon. I started the journey in Jan 2011, surgery July 6th, tricare has specific requirements, as long as u have a pcm that will work with ya for all the consults then everything should be great. Nutritionist and Psy was done within the first month..but then my dr gave me the run around..march had EGD done...then finally in May changed drs because found out so much wrong with the one I had..unfortunately have to go 2 1/2 hrs away for surgery but thats ok with me..the new dr is great..all i had to do was cardio and thats because of family history..once they turned in all the paperwork to tricare I was approved within 24hrs. So I would say average is about 4-6months depending on what your sirgeon requires. Ann

I am on my pre op diet, my surgery is Wed Jul 6th. My problem is, I have not lost the weight that he asked me to, nor do I think it will be down by time I do my pre op Tue Jul 5th. Anyone else have trouble losing those stubborn pounds. Its the 4th of July weekend...so you know what that mean..sticking to the diet will be very very hard, but the good side is..grilled food is low fat lol. But I am going to be trying to fight it, even though I have to help with the cooking. Any suggestions and do anyone have any good ideas of what can be consumed during the liquid diet afterwards? I have a hiatal hernia also and they will be removing it during the surgery..have they even considered that option, and I am surprised your surgeon didnt have the EGD done before setting the surgery date Ann

I am an army wife too, at Ft Benning and my surgery is scheduled for July6th..have to travel 2 !/2 hrs for it because the post here nor the city of columbus ga offer it, but Tricare is covering it completely, so nah I dont mind the drive. I have the butterflies like crazy and I cant sleep because I feel like a child waiting for Christmas. I am constantly rethinking my decision, but after battling weight for 15yrs andknocking on 40 yrs old door, I really have to look at the longterm benefits...I wanna grow old with my husband, I want to see our kids grow into adulthood and have families of their own, I want to be able to go on vacations and be able to enjoy them without wearing out, I want to be able to enjoy retirement when the time comes. Those factors keep me going. I am sure you probably have reasons of your own you can focus on to make you hold the faith in your decision. Ann

[Got my date finally..so excited. I go in July 5th for preop and July 6th at 1pm is my surgery. Just curious thought, with such a late surgery time, will it still be a same day procedure. Not sure if I ca nmuster the strength to leave in a short period of time lol.

i am in columbus,,near post,,,about 1/4 mile from the sand hill gate..but we are a military family..im so excited to meet someone finally in the local area,,i have like a ton of questions..went to see cardiologist today..last step in getting my surgery done..he wants to run a nuclear stress test, pet scan , and echocardiogram before he clears me for surgery..that sux balls..especially since I have been waiting since Jan..but imma do it 6/16 and then final appointment with him is 6/27 when he will give me a clearance and hopefully surgeon wont need anything else lol. Not sure why I am seeing teh cardiologist when I have no hx of heart problems, but ok..im not going to fight it..lets get it done..crfossing my fingers to be approved and have date in July. i am on the last leg of getting banded..unfortunately i have to travel to valdosta to have the surgery..but im sure its worth it..email me sometime so we can maybe get a local group started..im hoping to be banded in the next couple weeks.. blackmajyk@hotmail.com

Time to get the group going again..its 2011 and I know a lot of new people in the area.

I am in Columbus and I will be banded first week of June2011. I am so nervous but excited at same time and looking for band buddies in the area also.

I have tricare..you can go onto their website and see what doctors are on their list as eligible..I looked up the various doctors in the area then I compared it to the listing on the tricare site. I am in Columbus Ga and I a going to Albany to see Dr Burnette. I put in consult on Mon April 11 and was approved wed april 13 by tricare. If you want we can be band buddies and work thru this together. I already have my psy eval and nutrition consult done along with the EGD, so hopefully this will go smoothly and I can have surgery in May. I started with a local dr approved thru tricare, but it fell thru due to him not being credentialed at any hospitals. u can look me up on yahoo as bmajyk and we can help each other.
