  1. Can't believe its here already! I've been kind of in a weird state of surrealism, like it isn't really happening. Yet here I am on day 2 of pre-op liquids and tomorrow I head to California! Surreal..... Good luck to the rest of April sleevers!
  2. I think its normal. it's a huge decision we're making! At least it better be normal because I'll be seeing you there in 2 days! Good luck tomorrow!
  3. I seem to lose from the top down. Face, then neck, then arms/chest..etc
  4. Louise is awesome! She has been so helpful and she is so sweet!
  5. I'm feeling the same. Mine is Wednesday!
  6. I don't know how you guys do it. Its things like that that make me glad I'm a canuck.
  7. Any time I've done Low Carb in the past, you didn't count carbs from veggies or fruit... unless they were a starch. So potato.. yes. Strawberries.. no. When I think of carbs, I'm thinking starches but perhaps someone that's been sleeved can weigh in on that.
  8. It's today! Can you make it downtown? So far its just myself and BlackBerryJuice
  9. I'm a 38E at 218 lbs. When I was 150 lbs 2 years ago, I was a 36C so yep... you lose em. They were definitely deflated but its good thing my hubby is an ass man!
  10. My plan is 5 days... surgery is on the Wed and I plan to be back on the Monday. I have a desk job though... no lifting anything heavier than a stapler
  11. I have heard great things about Dr Jaime Ponce de Leon as well if you're interested in him. Someone I know here is now a coordinator for him. I can get you in contact with her if you're interested. Send me a PM if so There's a lot of doctors out there, ultimately its your decision on your own personal comfort level. Regardless of naysayers of one doctor or another. Good luck!
  12. It wasn't completely cost that had me go with Dr Almanza. I was quoted more than 5K as the coordinator here provides additional support post-vsg that is part of my package price. I did my research and am happy with my decision. Good luck to whomever you choose!
  13. lol.. my hubby is too. He can't keep a secret for anything! Unless its related to his career in the military, then he's zipped up tight! I've said to anyone that says "going on vacation again"? that I just have some things to take care of and left it at that. I was just in Punta Cana for a wedding at the beginning of the month so people are just assuming I'm vacationing. I won't correct them unless they ask
  14. I'm being sleeved by Dr Almanza next week and someone else I know personally went to him in January for her sleeve and has a glowing report of his clinic and the entire experience!
  15. From the research I've done, its over 20K for bariatric surgery in Canada on self-pay. That's why so many of us go to Mexico!
  16. I've considered it. Then I realized that the last time I dieted WAS my last ditch effort. 15 years of dieting is enough chances for me to make this decision.
  17. My surgery is next week. I've told 3 people that I'm doing it. None of them are related to me... with of course the exception of my husband who is coming along with me. I told my trainer because she needed to know why I wouldn't be letting her kick my ass for the next 2 months. I told my best friend and I told a woman at work because I trust her and she's trusting me with a secret that she's pregnant right now. I don't want to tell my family. I don't want to tell my boss. I don't want to tell my co-workers... even the ones that could really benefit from this procedure. Frankly I'm afraid they'll look at me like I took the easy way out, or that I didn't really need it because I'm not "that" big... How do you decide who to tell???
  18. Congratulations on making this decision for yourself!! I'm actually going to Dr Almanza next week! I'll be sure to update my blog if not this board
  19. I have problems with meals that are too rich as well... mostly starchy/fatty/sweet. most often times I can't even finish the meal before I'm running for the bathroom! (tmi..sorry). I figured it was a form of IBS. It definitely encourages me to not eat that stuff! I wonder if I'll still have this problem post VSG?
  20. Sounds good.. I will PM you my cell # Anyone else in Edmonton want to join in??
  21. I can definitely meet before if we can get it arranged! Of course Friday is a holiday but I'm in every other day, including Easter Monday (on liquids only on monday though!) Any day is good for me this week.
  22. I've lost 60 lbs before (2 years ago... and surprise gained it all back in 5 months ugh) and I had the same problem. People would tell me how great I looked and I just didn't see it. I could see that the size I was wearing was smaller but it just didn't compute in my head. I don't know how long it takes but I know that I have dealt with it before too. It sucks!
  23. Wow!! I can't wait to be where you are!!
  24. I'm not sleeved yet... (Next week FTW!) but a weight loss plan is a weight loss plan. While I understand that the calories coming in during the initial healing phases are very low, I personally don't believe it is enough to justify eating ice cream every day. Especially this early out. If we can make excuses for not following the eating plan so early after surgery then we're just setting ourselves up for long term failure. Excuses and justifications is what got alot of us here in the first place. YMMV and who knows, I might find myself struggling with trying to get in ANY calories and reach for "soft calories" too. I wish you luck in your journey
