I started a FB group for WLS patients to sell/buy gently used items that can be used post op.

Post ops can sell things they no longer need/want that are in good condition/new (like unopened Protein powders, abdominal binders, recipe books, WLS books, etc).

I know I could use stuff since Im just a month away from surgery! The group is "closed" so no one can see the posts within the group unless they are members.

My big day is Jan 7th btw!

I had a bad reaction to tuna as well. I am living on Yogurt and pureed meatless chili witih a little cheese. I don't like eggs and refried Beans.

Okay, so those who know me (even a little), you know I'm a softie.. cream puff.... and I LOVE people!! So, I just wanted to share a few of my New Year's wishes that I have for you... my sleeve family...
I pray the New Year brings:
Strength for you to conquer any challenge set before you, whether a stall, slow insurance approval or friends/family who don't get it!
A greater feeling of confidence and love for who you are inside and out, regardless of the acknowledgement from others
More opportunities for you to surround yourself with positive people who Celebrate you and not just tolerate you... You are wonderful and you should hear it OFTEN
Favor and blessings beyond your wildest dreams, so that you will know that you are loved, you are a gift and you are AMAZING!!
Finally, I pray that you will have an opportunity to encourage someone who is struggling w/ their weight and/or suffering needlessly w/ obesity related illnesses, to at least THINK about and research VSG... You are a witness to how life changing this surgery is... Share it with someone who needs it!!!

My love, hugs and best wishes to each of you and your families as we close a very eventful year and enter a new one filled w/ possibility, opportunity and greatness....

Hello VST community.
150 lbs GONE in 206 days since I started my pe-op diet
118 lbs gone in 179 days since VSG
Under 300 lbs for the first time in over 20 years
Over 1/3 of ME is gone.
I can buy cheap clothes at Wal-Mart and second hand stores instead of expensive Big and Tall shops
I can actually fit in places: public bus, port-a-potty etc.
Females actually talk to me (ex wife is mad at me for losing weight)
I guess you can tell I am pretty dog gone happy
Why do stalls alway occur right before a major milestone?
Lots of info and support from this board helped make it happen.

OMG you guys .. Originally my surgery was scheduled for NOV 28th BUt it got moved to DEC 7th.
4 DAYS!!!!!!! im so scared.. nervous... knots in stomach.. gahhh...:-)

My date is Dec 13th! I will be sleeved by Dr. Lalor in Bowling Green Ohio. I am super excited and can not wait! It is great to see that we all have similar dates and can share our experience!

Well this is my first post on this site! My surgery date has been set for awhile now.. drum roll please (sorry I'm a music teacher).....
December 19 at Yale New Haven Hospital with Dr. Robert Bell.
I am still waiting on pins and needles for my insurance approval with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. I don't have to do a pre-op diet OR mandatory weigh-ins for six months according to my insurance and surgeon.
I think I'm more nervous NOT having to do the pre-op and the six month weigh-ins because I have this deep fear that things are way too easy and I'm just waiting for the ball to drop. I'm also praying that I'm wrong and that all will work out. I am not one to be patient so any words of wisdom to calm me down would be great!
I can't WAIT for this surgery. I've been overweight/obese my entire life with little spurts or extreme dieting and extreme exercise and there a huge weight loss, only to gain it all back again (and then some). Can't wait to go clothes shopping in my own closet!
Can't wait to be on the losers bench with all of you!

Hey Everybody! I will be sleeved December 12th at Memorial in Savannah, GA! I'm more excited than nervous... i start my pre-op liquid diet Nov. 28th. I think this is gonna be one of the hardest things because we will still have our old stomachs. Just gotta power through it! Good luck to everyone!

There was time when I was younger, that I wouldn't have told a soul. But now (maybe because I'm 47 and getting cantankerous) I just don't care what people think anymore. Everyone who knows me knows how many times I have been on Weight Watchers, Atkins, Slimfast, diet pills, plus literally DOZENS more. They know how I ruined my knee forever from exercise. Maybe it finally was the easy way out for me because it was a guarantee that I will lose, but I don't care. I haven't hidden it from anyone, because I DON'T CARE! (Did I mention that I'm becoming cantankerous with age?) lol I have tried and failed and tried an failed and tried and failed so many times. I just couldn't go on with it anymore.
My husband was so against me having surgery, but he couldn't have stopped me if he had tried. We have been married for 22 years and we consult each other about most everything, but this was non negotiable. I FINALLY had the opportunity for insurance coverage for surgery, and I was taking it.
I feel 1000 times better already. I'm already a better wife, mother, teacher, daughter, friend, etc because I now have the energy to go around for everybody. I LOVE my sleeve and I will shout it from the rooftops!
As I see it, people are going to talk. The more they know something bothers you, the more they are going to talk. I decided to take that power away from them. My best friend, however, (who is also 47) is trying to have it done but she will have to self pay because she doesn't meet insurance qualifications. She's not nearly as heavy as I was. She plans to only tell her husband. I will go to my grave keeping her secret, because that is her choice. We all have to do what we are comfortable with, but I feel no shame.
You do what you have to do. I really don't feel that there is a right way or a wrong way to handle this. Enjoy your sleeve, because it is amazing!!

My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 13, at the Hurley Bariatric Center in Flint, Michigan. I begin a 2 week pre-op liquid diet on Nov. 28. I am so excited to finally get a date. It has been a long drawn out process. :tongue2:
