  1. How great! I can't wait till my butt has space on either side in the bath too!!
  2. Excellent motivating post! I had exactly what I wanted on Christmas day! I'm back on track now!
  3. You're still healing. I didn't start to lose weight properly until more than 3 months after my band, when I got my 3rd fill. You'll reach a point where it just starts to happen
  4. I have to tell you, I was always the cook of my family, friends, etc. I'm the one that would experiment with food and then hold parties and dinners and over cater with ridiculous amounts of delicious food... I thought I'd never be able to do that again, but here I am only 4 months post-band, and I catered a great Christmas Eve afternoon tea with gourmet tidbits! I think I went for finger food out of my new lifestyle - making finger food for everyone meant that I could have one of everything and not overeat! This is all new for you. Take comfort: you can still be a part of food and your family celebrations given a little time
  5. I was really dehydrated for the first couple of weeks after getting the band, because I just couldn't stomach the water. Just sip, sip, sip when you can, don't try to "catch up" by drinking too much too fast, and just rest assured that as you heal, you'll be able to drink more and more.
  6. I provide only healthy snacks in the house. Sometimes we'll bake a cake or cookies or something, but even then we try to make the cake healthier. For example, swapping oil for applesauce, using pureed kidney beans instead of flour, etc. When we're away from home, I choose the healthier options and my daughter models her behaviour on me. We often have sushi when we're at a food court, even when there's McDonalds, KFC, donuts, etc all around.
  7. My doctor puts me on liquids only for 24 hours, and then careful eating after that. For the first 24 hours, I have optifast shakes, soup, coffee, etc.
  8. I also have a liquid breakfast, which allows me to have my two meals (lunch and dinner) later in the day, when the band feels a little looser.
  9. Yep, in January, I had to wear 10 3-pound weights. On the weekend, I only had to wear 8 of them. I guess my next goal is to only need 6, which is what my husband wears!!! I'll be thinking of you for your nuclear stress tests
  10. Howdy everyone! The weight is finally "falling off" for me, so I guess I'm in the "green zone" and if I can just remember to not START eating till I'm hungry, I should be good for a while! I had a major NSV yesterday. I scuba dive, and last time I went was in January. I had to hire a men's XL wetsuit and wear a L vest... So DH and I went diving yesterday, and I tried on and rented a M/L - I thought it was a men's size, but it was actually a WOMEN'S M/L. WOAH!!! It was sooooo tight, but there was no way I was going to swap it for a larger size once I got it on!!! Oh, and the vest was an M!
  11. I think mine said 12 days for the clear plasters that were on.
  12. I didn't have any testing. Not even blood work. I gues I'd had some blood work done a couple of months before I saw the surgeon, but thinking back, I don't think he ever saw that paperwork or anything. So there you go, I had less testing than you
  13. I had hypnotherapy a couple of years ago and it did absolutely nothing for my weight. I did feel relaxed and energised. But didn't lose any weight.
  14. Hahahaha! Congratulations Bob!
  15. I think this says something about our western cultures. People look at women in the "normal" weight range and see them as "skinny". Because being overweight is, unfortunately, becoming normal.
  16. I was banded August 15. Breakfast - brioche and honey-cinnamon butter and a cup of tea lunch - one sushi roll with tuna and avocado, and one vegetarian sushi roll, one strawberry, and one skim latte dinner - beef/vegetable lasagne Supper - don't know yet, but it will be something I have in my fridge/pantry. Probably a piece of fruit or maybe some yoghurt.
  17. I had horrible neck pain after my surgery. I went to a chiropractor and one adjustment put it back into place. When I told my surgeon about it, he said it was probably because they push your head to once side sometimes when you're being operated on. I can imagine the pain could come back with a fill or with any other "trauma" to the body if the undlerlying cause is not addressed.
  18. I kept getting painfully hungry between meals until a few weeks after my third fill. I can assure you that it's not always like this. Now I don't get hungry until about midday, and once I eat lunch, that does me until at least 5pm. Just because a certain amount of fill made you too full on your last fill, that doesn't mean that you won't tolerate that same level of fill at some point in the future. Maybe your doc could put in 0.5 and see how you go with that?
  19. What possible reason would I have to want to exaggerate or lie about my experience?
  20. Yeah, I'm definitely not going to buy any fancy or expensive clothes until I'm at my goal weight. But I have now got some $8 jeans and $6 shirts from Kmart that fit, and I feel great!
