  3. congratulations to you and your success. I am hoping to be getting my sleeve the first week in january and hope mine goes as well!! good luck to you!!
  4. i LOVE the boots!! you look great!!! congrats on your success !!
  5. really like the chike!! my doc gave me samples and my nutritionist said i could mix it with water or milk. and i love it! it mixes well, so its not all...clumpy. *gag* :puke: i have tried the chocolate and strawberry and like them both enough that i think i can tolerate them for meals for the next couple months lol.
  6. My doc wants me on the 2 weeks of liquids only. i go in january so i havent gotten my breakdown of what i can and cant have yet. but they have already gotten me in the habit of substituting a couple of meals with protien shakes. and i love the Chike brand shakes. they have several flavors that rock! makes it so much easier and they are more filling than i thought they would be. i am on the search to for some good clear liquid recipes for like broth and the sort. ya know, so things dont get too boring and i am spazzing out before week one is even over. haha. good luck to you and cant wait to hear how it goes and see your progress!!
  7. I cant believe how fast time has gone by!!! I had my appointment with the exercise specialist, nutritionist and my psych eval. passed the psych eval!! wooohooo! and i go back in two weeks to see the other 2...just had some tweaking to do on some of the changes i had already made. and then, we will submit everything to insurance. So hopefully gearing up for the middle of February! So does anyone have any good recipes for like, the 2 week clear liquid torture we are submitted to? lol...i am just hoping that i can come up with some stuff so it doesnt get TOO boring....lol. they say that is the hardest part. guess we will find out! :yuck:
  8. As of 2:30pm yesterday, I am on the road to a healthier me! Dr. Salimath said that the sleeve would work good for me (yippee) and that with a BMI of 42...and a small handful (haha) of co morbidities...i shouldnt have a problem with my insurance being on board! woohoo...i know i have a long road ahead of me, but it is one that I have waited a long time for, and i am ready. i started my new 'no soda, sweets, and all water' lifestyle today. lol oh boy! so...now i am just waiting for my appt with the nutritionist, psychologist, and behavioral therapist. Gonna get my labs done this weekend, and knock out as much as i can as soon as i can. any suggestions on the long prep to this new life?
  9. I am soo excited. I am now 48 hours away from seeing my bypass doctor for the first time. Dr. Salimath in Peoria, IL. Curious to find out what he says and recommends for me. I have my fingers crossed...I have done my research and really like the vertical sleeve as my option, when you weigh in the pros and cons. So I guess I will just have to wait and see. Wish me luck all!!! woohooo!
  10. *giggle @stcyt* you go girl! i know what you are all saying. i feel anything but appealing when i am carrying around a little "extra" hehe. it is hard to be intimate when u feel imperfect. i know i feel that way. someone particular told me, when i mentioned my surgery, i was already pretty. and asked if i really thought i needed to do this. for the first time in my adult life, someone suggested that i was attractive. and i almost backed out. its good to have those ppl in our lives, that still believe in us, and will still like/love us, no matter what.
  11. okay, i am one of those who are overweight with few (if any) co-morbidities. in all honesty i am bout 125 pounds over my ideal weight. And like everyone else here, i just wanna be healthy again, and not get to the point where i have to deal with morbidities. so here is my question....those of you like me, with none, did you have a difficult time getting your insurance to cover your procedure? i am quite exhausted from the yo-yo diets and diet failure depression. it was very hard for me to say, "i cant do this without help" and surgery was always a last resort for me, but i am ready now, to do it, and start the road to a healthier me.
  12. too funny...:blushing: but i am thinking how i can't wait till that day. i think after all the time i have spent fighting the fight, i wouldn't mind it so much. :001_smile: maybe that sounds crazy, but thats me lol congrats on your success thus far! and wishing much more for u!!
  13. I am new here myself and havent had my surgery either. but after doing all my research, i decided to go with the vsg. only because i dont like the idea of a foreign body inside of me, and i do like the fact that i can eventually go back to a normal diet. i mean, eating without avoiding certain foods, and smaller portions. the slipping, eroding, that all kinda scares me. it was a big decision and i did tons of research...and still am :lol0: but that is where i am right now with it. i wish you the best of luck, and who knows...we may be learning together!
  14. @ brian--sorry for your loss, but good for u to make such a big decision! :lol0: and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and good wishes. i am very excited and cant hardly wait to see my dr for the first time. it is the only time i wish that the clock would move faster :lol0:
