  1. Congratulations Mommy of 4, what a fantastic feeling it must have been, good for you!! I didn't even realize they made size 8 anymore, I think the last time I looked I must have been 12 or 13 years old, LOL :-)
  2. Hi Panda! Your right it's beautiful up here. I'm actually going to be moving to my own place in Cool right outside Auburn. I'm thinking I really need to lose my weight since I'll have five acres with chickens and goats. Boy am I making so big life changes. To answer your question, the psychologist appointment lasted for approximately 45 minutes. We went over medical history and discussed what my expectations were and if they were realistic. It was comfortable. I'm really glad you are on this site and going to the same facility, this will really provide some good information sharing. Cyclemom
  3. Hi irkenpanda, I'm from Auburn and am also going to Richmond. I chose to go with the sleeve after researching the gastic and the lapband. It just seems to be the way to go. I just got back on the 17th from my appointment with the psychologist and the weigh in, things are looking good. I've been scheduled to meet with Dr. Fisher next Wednesday in Vacaville and hopefully will also see my case manager who will give me a surgery date. I was pretty impressed with the staff in Richmond and have heard lots of good things about the doctors. Good luck on your journey and let's stay in touch. SacTown is in the house!
  4. Hi Jamielynn - WELCOME, and congratulations on your decision. It's amazing the amount of information and support this site has given those that are looking at changing their lives. I've discovered once your take the first step things start to roll quickly. Keep posting and again congratulations! Cyclemom:biggrin0:
  5. I surprised myself, I loss 8.5 pounds. The psychologist appointment went well and she supported the recommendation to have the surgery. This was my biggest hurdle or at least that's what I kept telling myself. I meet with Dr. Fisher next Wednesday and I could have my sleeve as early as mid November. I am so excited and determine never ever to go back to this kind of lifestyle ever again.
  6. Hi everyone, I started my journey in August and participated in a mandatory class before they would even schedule the Orientation. I had my Orientation on the 7th of this month, and tomorrow I'll travel from the Sacramento area to the Bay Area (Richmond) to meet with the Health Educator and then 30 minutes later meet with the Psychologist. I have stuck faithfully to the Pre-Op diet, and am hoping that I'll have at least lost 5 pounds. I'm wondering how much time passes between the psychologist appointment and the Surgeon appt. Anyone else going through the Kaiser Richmond Program? Cyclemom:001_unsure:
  7. Good luck, hope all goes well!!!
  8. Good Luck! Hope everything goes well.
  9. Hi everyone. I've been coming on the VST now for the last 4 weeks and I can say it's given me hope. I've been overweight most of my life. I'm the only girl out of 5 children and I can honestly say, it wasn't what we eat, it was how much of it. I grew up eating man size portions of everything. I'm now 51 and at my highest weight 240 lbs with a BMI of 41. To say I was shock is an understatement. Boy was I in denial. Somehow or another when I looked in the mirror I didn't like what I saw but it certainly wasn't grossly overweight. I've had a CPAT now for four years but didn't think much of it until the 4th of July when I was staying at a Hostel in the Bay Area and I guess I kept a lot of folks up - I was wakened up in the middle of the night and told to go sleep somewhere else and then called a "fat *%$& pig." Well I know no one deserves to be called names and I certainly was hurt by this staement, but the whole situation got me thinking and made me realize that I needed to do something for myself., I enjoy riding my road bike but I have found myself not riding more and more simply because the bike can't hold my weight. I taken my orientation class and I have my first appoint at Kaiser in Vacaville this coming Tuesday. (I believe this is a new program for Kaiser - since the closest one that I was aware of is in Richmond). I'm excited and have already begun journeling my food intake and excercise. I look forward to reading everyone's success stories and questions. Thanks everyone for being such an inspiration and lighting the fire under my axxxx. :confused1:
