  1. Have Horizon in NJ. They just started covering in July. My Dr. has already had issues and has canceled some October surgeries. Hoping things are ok by November.
  2. I have BCBS and I know that there have been issues with them. I'm in NJ, so it could be really different, but I've seen people in other places say that they've had problems. I know that my insurance just started covering the sleeve in July and my doctor has already had problems with them and postponed some people scheduled for surgery in October. (Fingers crossed that it is all worked out by November) Don't know anything about Kaiser. Hope that helps.
  3. Congrats on making it to the other side!
  4. It took the full three weeks before I heard anything and I'm scheduled for surgery on 11/22. Hope the waiting goes quickly for you!
  5. The Everything Post Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook says this about sugars: p. 118 "Sugar is a problem whether or not you experience dumping syndrome. Sugar is high in calories, but those calories are empty, totally lacking in nutritional value. Avoiding sugar will help keep your calorie intake under control." and p. 284 "Refined sugars can rapidly raise blood glucose levels and cause dumping syndrome. Less refined sugars, or slow sugars, are better tolerated...." Hope this helps.
  6. Thanks, April. Can't wait until it's over. Have to be at the hospital at 5 am tomorrow. :yikes:
  7. Anyone have any idea how soon you can go back to water aerobics after VSG?
  8. Dr. Washington in New Jersey. Can't wait!!!!
  9. I've seen Benefiber mentioned a lot on this board. I looked at the nutritional information today and was surprised to see how many carbs it has, since I know most people are low carb after surgery. It looked like most versions had 4 grams of carbs to 3 grams of fiber and some (powder plus calcium) had 7 grams of carbs. Is that enough fiber to make the carbs worth it?
  10. When I went for my cardiologist, my EKG was abnormal, but it was abnormal last year when I had minor surgery and I was told it might just be normally abnormal. He sent me for an echo which was fine and a nuclear stress test. I failed the nuclear stress test, but apparently that is common for women with large chests. My cardio told me that it was probably a false positive, but he wanted me to go for an angiogram. I've been somewhat freaked out :scared0: by this for the last month and a half, but I've been trying really hard not to think about it. I'm scheduled for an angiogram on Thursday. I've done some reading on the internet, but I've stuck to the clinical stuff from various hospitals because it has made me so anxious. Has anyone had one and can you talk at all about your experience with it? Were you awake during the procedure? How long did it take? Any other things to consider?
  11. Good luck on your journey. Are you going to any support group meetings? What's the next step for you?
  12. I'm having mine on 11/22. Good luck to you!
  13. Someone's cold wax experience: For Tippster...Or why no brazilians for me (NSR) - Teton Gravity Research Forums Don't read this at work or anywhere else you're likely to get funny looks when you laugh your tail off
  14. Has anyone seen the Syntha6 Ready to Drink? If so, where? I'd like to pick up a few.
  15. I think I'm going to get one. I'm tired of constantly cleaning my blender jar. Is it any quieter than a regular blender?
  16. My second bottle just came in today, if that tells you anything.
  17. It will happen for you. I went to a seminar in March and my surgery will be in November. I'm just grateful that my insurance started covering the sleeve in July. I really didn't want to go with one of the other options and I don't think my husband would have been too supportive if I'd gone with RNY.
  18. Great news! Thanks for sharing, Maddie & Coops. Would be so wonderful to reduce or eliminate my migraines.
  19. I've tried the chocolate peanut butter and just ordered a new bottle. I like it. The Syntha-6 that I've tried have not been strong flavors and the peanut butter is pretty mild. I usually added a little peanut butter to kick it up a notch and add some extra Protein.
  20. I haven't had the surgery yet, but when I told my neurologist that I was planning to have surgery, he was very supportive and thought that I would have fewer migraines. Can't wait to be on the other side and test that theory out.
  21. That must be the test I took. The questions were mostly all out there. Waste of time and $85.
  22. It doesn't sound like you're getting enough protein from the diet that they put you on. Good luck with it!

    Introduction goes here.
  24. It all depends on your doctor. The main reason for the liquid diet is to shrink your liver a bit so that it is not in the way when they do the surgery. Everyone's doctor seems to have different guidelines for liquid diets -- different foods allowed & different lengths of time.
