  1. Thank you all...well they did an Ekg, Chest CT, bloodwork...all came back ok. Which bothers me...because it was very very real and very very painful! My self-diagnosis maybe a severe gas pain? then when I sat up I refluxed acid and it burned my chest and throat.... not sure where the blood taste was comeing from though... Oh well..I'm ok. guess that's all that matters. though I felt like a dummy at the ER.
  2. Ok here it is...and I have already left a message for my doc too.... still on liquids. last night...2am...bolt upright awake with a SEVERE pain in my stomach. Like, seriously it felt like someone was grabbing the inside of my stomach sleeve and ripping it out. At the same time , I felt burning in my chest area, and tasted what I thought was blood...felt an intense urge to start coughing, but stomach pain was ripping me apart so I was trying to get to toilet. I sat in front of the toilet thinking I was going to vomit, but the pain was so bad, I got all sweaty and tingly, and felt like the room was spinning, felt like I was gonna pass out! I felt like I couldn't catch my breath for the burning in my chest and tried to cough just a little, which burned like terrible and coughed up what looked and tasted like stomach bile. I was almost crying, my husband was about to call 911... I kept saying "somethings wrong, somethings wrong" I seriously thought I was gonna die. Then, as quickly as it came on, the pain subsidded. However....I still had the burning in my chest, and now this morning, it still feels tight in my chest and rattly ... ok, just heard from the doc, they want me to go have a chest xray.. sigh..... nothing can ever go smoothly for me.
  3. LOL so my Nut called back...says do not start purees/mushies til at least Thurs! She said "don't listen to the surgeon, he doesn't know anything about the diet!" lol She said progressing the diet to quickly can actually cause your pouch to stretch.. So no matter how much I THINK I am hungry for mushy food...I wanna do this right! I'll wait. :-)
  4. Thanks guys! And would you consider soup (like Tomato, smooth no chunks of anything) a liquid or a puree? I just can't figure out if I should sip 2 oz every 15 min...over 1 hour....and get 8 oz of it (like the protein shakes) or if I should just drink a max of 1/4 cup of it in like a 20 minute time frame for a MEAL. Which seems like sooooo little of soup that is draining right through you.
  5. I was sleeved last Monday, so tomorrow will be 1 wk. The class I went to, and the instructions they sent me home with both said full liquids 10-14 days, then start mushies.... Well..... my surgeon just called to check on me. He said I can go ahead and start mushies now. What? LOL I mean, trust me, I want something besides liquid. But it threw me for a loop because that wasn't what I was taught. He said to start with yogurt. Anyone else start mushies 1 wk out? Or was it more like 2 wks? I'm not sure what to do.
  6. Yes, it is in a blue box..actually it was one thing my surgeons Nut recommended getting... I found mine just at the grocery store, King Soopers, which is a Kroger store.
  7. ahh Thanks Tiff, so does that hormone eventually go away? Right now it's just lingering? Yeah, it's totally in my head too.. even when my tummy doesn't FEEL hungry..all the food smells make me wanna eat! I never thought I'd say I'm looking forward to Puree food! LOL
  8. So I was sleeved on Monday. I've been doing pretty well getting in my 3 Protein shakes a day and fluids in between. But to be honest I don't feel that different! I still think I feel hungry, everytime my husband or kids eat it makes me wanna eat, (which I haven't at all of course), And when I'm drinking my shakes and fluids I do 2oz over 15 min... nothing feels different. If my tummy wasn't all colorful and bruized and steri-stripped I'd question I had surgery! LOL When will I be able to FEEL my sleeve? Not until real food? I'ts making it hard!
  9. Becca, we were sleeved on the same day! :-) ikwym..jello and broth make me wanna gag. So I am doing 3 protein shakes a day, (8 oz over 1 hour each) and inbetween those I've been doing Crystal Lite lemonade and fruit punch and water. That is the diet my surgeon puts us on...
  10. Tiff, how can you tell if you're having a leak?
  11. Hey cool! Do you ever go to the support groups in Denver? I went to the one at Swedish for Dec, I am gonna try to go for Jan also
  12. Thanks! I just can't wait to see that number going DOWN!!!
  13. I just posted this exact question! Same thing happened to me! I was sleeved on Monday also, came home today 5 pounds heavier! lol
  14. Hello Friends, Well I was sleeved on Monday. I got so sick from the anesthesia that I couldn't keep anything down sO I had to stay an extra night. ... but it seems to be better now.. now for the question...The morning of my surgery I weighed myself 260... today I weighed myself 265! Is that just from swelling or something?? AAAHHH!
  15. Hi! I have posted a couple times and lurked and read alot! I got my approval and am scheduled to be sleeved on December 27th! I am so excited, and a little scared! I'm scared of surgery and anesthesia itself...not of being sleeved... It seems like most people on this forum have a pre-op diet? My dr doesn't do those... just a big bowel cleansing the night before (YUK)! Guess I need to get my protein and vitamins ordered!!! AAAAAHHHH!!!
  16. Thanks ladies...I feel a little less nervous!
  17. Anyone with Aetna and doing the pre-surgery 3 month requirements? I am so worried... these past 3 months have been crisis after crisis.. Sick baby in and out of Children's Hospital, Teenage child drama drama, illnesses, you name it! I haven't been able to lose any weight. In fact, I have gained 10 pounds since my initial consult. There is no real stipulation saying how much you have to lose to be approved...but the nutritionist says they want to seem SOME loss... I am so scared I'm going to get denied. I don't think I could handle that on top of everything else....
  18. ERNY...interesting.... and kinda scary! lol One question my mom brought up, and I haven't gotten to ask the Dr yet.... after you have a VSG...what if you get something like stomach cancer? Then there is barely any stomach to work with? I hadn't really worried about that before.... I am really excited to get this. I think I will stick with VSG. It's what I planned on all along. I heard about it a week after I got my lapband and wished way back then I'd have known about it!! I hope I can lose weight quickly too... do you do alot of exercising?
  19. thank you! You and I sound similar...I am right at about 260 right now.. worrying about insurance approval though, because I haven't lost weight during my 3 months.. Anyway.. thanks for the info. The main thing that made me start rethinking was when she said the sleeve isn't great for sweets eaters...well, sweets are my main enemy! So I started thinking maybe I need dumping syndrome. lol But.... all the things you listed were the reasons I originally wanted the sleeve. What is ERNY? Haven't heard of that one. I see you hit your goal in 6.5 months! That is awsome!!!
  20. Hi, I have been doing my pre-cert work to get the sleeve next month. After going to the class that was over all types of surgeries, I am starting to think maybe I should go with Bypass..but for some reason it scares me more. So what made you choose the sleeve over bypass? maybe I should mention that I have a failed lapband in me now.... my band tilted and never worked right... long story.... I need help deciding. Thanks! Kindra
  21. Does anyone know how I would go about finding a reputable and experienced VSG surgeon in the Denver, CO area? I currently have a lapband, but am considering revision to a vertical sleeve. My band surgeon is very new at doing VSG I believe, because in the past he has always said he only did Band or RNY (as does his website), but today he told me he does VSG but only recently. I don't know if I should stick with him or if I should look for someone more experienced, and how to even begin looking? Thanks!
