Who Knew A 5K Could Be Easy!

Congratulations! I've got a goal of doing a 5k, then a 10k, then a half. I do run, though sporadically. I need to get out and do it more. Can't do the treadmill. I lie the change in scenery! A couple of years ago, I had my knee scoped and the surgeon advised against ever running. That was 100#+ ago so I get a bit of a charge when I'm out running, pretty much pain free.
  2. The emotional rollercoaster does have a way off. It's difficult because the easy thing to do is to kick your boyfriend to the curb. I have to be honest. I have never understood why anyone would stay with someone who is just convinced that they will be cheated on. It sounds like his desire is to control you. You've obviously got some diffcult decisions to make. I truly wish that I had some motivational stuff to say to you. Just something to get you over the hump, but sadly, I don't. I'm trying to find a way to help my wife who has gained some weight back and just know that she needs my support. Keep looking forward. You know what needs to happen food-wise. You can make it happen.
  3. My wife and I were both sleeved. We've had a lot of changes in our lives. Last October we became full time caretaker's to her parents when we moved them into our house in Alabama. A week prior to that we had a really bad car accident when a little girl (16 year old) decided to pull out in front of us. We walked away from that, but have a few underlying aches and pains as a result. Taking care of my wife's parents proved to be too much for she and I to do alone so we've moved to Arizona. We have a daughter here and my wife has a couple of ineffective sisters nearby. My wife still works from home so her job transferred. Meanwhile, I'm getting ready to start a temp job in advance of a full time job on 10/1. I can't wait for that! Here's the issue we're having. My weight has remained pretty stable. I hit a low of 167 and have rebounded a bit to 172. My body responds very well to hiking and other cardio type exercise. My wife has gained around 20 lbs since hitting her low. She still looks amazing, but her self esteem is taking a hit. She gets out and walks a couple times a day, but due to her parents is unable to do much else. Honestly, I just want her to love herself, but that's difficult. She's feeling like she has failed. We have not found a doctor out here yet. We've had some recommendations but most are not on our insurance. Surprisingly the Phoenix area is still on the lap band bandwagon. I'm confused by that given the data that is out there. At any rate, just a bit of a rant this morning. I'm just trying to get a grip on this.

    Spam Pm From Judith123

Received the following SPAM PM from a 'lady' calling herself Judith123 "Hello Dearest on, I am Judith D*****, by name, is my pleasure to have come across your contact, and I would love be in a good relationship with you, love is all about feeling, color, ag, distance will not be a hindrance to this because I believe that something good will come it their is no hamr in trial (Spam Email address deleted@yahoo.com) I am caring, loving kind, and romantic in nature, I wait your respond via so that I can send you my photos and more details about myself,Thanks and God Bless you, (spam email address deleted @yahoo.com) Kiss Judith This type of interaction is unwarranted and unwelcome. There certainly has to be a way to not get this type of junk on this forum. I urge moderators to ban this 'persons' account.
  5. Here's what I enjoy. I recently started a new job and a group of us went out to lunch. We went to the local McDonald's and everyone was ordering their biggie meals. I ordered off the $1 menu and got a McDouble, a small fry and a bottle of Water. As we sat to year, I pulled the top bun off and started eating the burger. After a few minutes, one of the group asked the inevitable question and I answered that I had weight loss surgery and don't eat a lot at each meal and concentrate on the Protein. That started the "My (so and so) had that done and you've got to be careful because they gained all of their weight back" BS. IT amazes me how everyone knows someone that wasn't successful and yet they lump me in with that. People would so rather have a sense of moral superiority than they need to possess.
  6. Thanks all for the kind words. My wife and I have just returned from Illinois moving her parents down with us. My wife continues to amaze me every day. We're now consolidating their house with ours and have some issues with that. However, I'm completely happy doing this at my current weight rather than the weight that I was last year. I completely could not have done that then!
  7. I found an old memory card that had some photos on it. One of them epitomizes the massive human being that I had become. Let's see if I can post this correctlyI Before 272 Lbs After 182 Lbs

    Bruised but not Broken

Thank you to all the people who have commented on Klus263's post. I'm her husband and I can safely tell you that I thought that we were both going to be in Heaven last Friday night The intersection this happened at is a county road. We had the Right of Way and the young lady had a stop sign. Speed limit is 55 mph and people always seem to think that they can pull right on out. I replay the accident in slow motion often and it terrifies me each time. I'm off work for the rest of this week nursing a concussion and a bit of whiplash. Klus 263 is a bit more of a trooper working a half day today and then we leave to assist in getting her parents moved. Thankfully we have help for that and have hired some people to load a truck.
  9. Your success mirrors mine. I lost and passed my goal. My weight loss has ended and my lowest was 180.4 and I now hover around 183. I feel great. It's a little odd now when I look at pictures from last year and hardly recognize the person that I was.
  10. Start shopping at thrift stores (if you aren't already!) Good deals and it won't hurt as much in the pocketbook as you shrink. I've also been running, something I haven't been able to do for too many years. I can go a mile non stop and the time is coming down. I'm liking the new me.
  11. I mirror most of that. I have never had any real problems with reflux or nausea (which I am eternally grateful for!) I was sleeved on 3/31/11 and like you haven't felt this good since I was in my 20's. I recently got back to running and was able to go a mile nonstop for the first time a couple of days ago. Now that bug is biting and I need some new shoes! I passed my goal weight a month ago and have dropped a few more pounds. Now to work on maintaining. Best of luck to you in the continued journey.
  12. Keep up the hard work! I'll never forget when I hit that magic number, now I don't ever want to go above!
  13. Hey Tex, drop a line and let me know how you're doing. Be well!

I tried it before w/l surgery and the body would not allow it. Now I'm ready to give it a try again. Good luck to you.
