  1. I wish! My libido went south after banding :-(
  2. I used to have horrific back pain before banding that has completely resolved after losing almost 50 pounds. My GYN also said my PCOS has improved greatly since losing weight. The best part for me: no more acid reflux! I was eating Tums like candy before surgery.
  3. People just love to gossip...it sucks when you're the focus of it but eventually they get bored and move on to a new victim. Don't let it get to you too much. It will blow over before you know it. You might want to have a chat with your manager about sharing your personal information, though.
  4. Very true...I still have to learn how to balance eating and exercise correctly. Definitely a lesson learned.
  5. Not worth it for me. I accidentally had something that was carbonated at a party last month a few days after an adjustment and I was in so much agony I had to leave. Never again!
  6. How do you make the chicken? The drier it is the harder time you will have with it...try making it in a slow cooker or braising it so it stays super moist.
  7. ...when I work my butt off to lose weight by counting calories and exercising like a fiend I don't lose anything, but when I stop obsessing and just go with the flow it comes off? Stupid fat, you're not the boss of me!
  8. I like Vita Band too. They don't taste the best but they do the job!
  9. When did you get the fill? My PA always tells me that fills sometimes take 1-2 weeks to fully kick in. Wait a couple weeks and if you still feel no difference, you may need another adjustment.
  10. Sometimes it takes a few fills before you really feel something. As you lose weight you will need to keep getting fills because the fat pad around your stomach will shrink and the band will loosen up. Everyone is different; some people need 5 or 6 fills, some need more, some never need any. I myself just had my 4th fill on Monday. Don't be discouraged, you'll find the green zone eventually!
  11. I have taken Bariatric Advantage vitamins pretty much from day 1 and I have never had problems with my nails or thinning hair. Also make sure to get your recommended amount of protein each day.
  12. I have been using Leslie Sansone DVDs...I'm a workout beginner so they really kick my butt, but I'm sure they'd be good for someone more advanced too.
  13. I just flew to NC a few weeks ago and had no problems with the band. Enjoy your trip!
  14. I've been using Nuvaring for about two years and I love it! I don't have to remember to take a pill every day and it doesn't make me feel crappy like oral contraceptives used to. I still use condoms anyway because I am so not ready for motherhood at this point, but it's supposed to be as effective as any other hormonal birth control method. My GYN said it also has a lower incidence of weight gain. Give it a try!
  15. After suffering at a plateau for several weeks, I got an adjustment yesterday. I stepped on the scale today for the heck of it and not only did the plateau finally break, but I'm now halfway to my goal weight! Woo hoo!
  16. The first one is always the worst. I think it's because you're not used to the sensation and sometimes they have a little trouble finding the port at first. It gets easier, don't worry! I just had my 4th fill this morning and the discomfort was really minimal. I don't even ask for lidocaine anymore.
  17. Well, I should have known I would have jinxed myself with all these positive entries. I hit a plateau a few weeks ago and I'm ready to scream! I started exercising more regularly and I thought that maybe I was suffering from some water retention. Then I went on vacation for a few days. My band was really tight on vacation and I was eating less so I figured "Yeah! I bet I lost some weight!" I came back home, hopped on the scale, and NOTHING. I wanted to throw it out the window. Not to mention it's that special TOM and I always retain water anyway, so that never helps. Hopefully my surgeon will give me an adjustment today and I'll start seeing some results soon. I wouldn't feel so pissed off if my clothes fit different at least, or if I felt different. I just feel like a fat bloated mess right now and it's all I can do to keep from giving up. I'm just hoping this is a little bump in the road and not an indicator of things to come.
  18. I've been stuck around the same weight for a few weeks and I'm beyond frustrated. I know I should be happy that I've lost 45 pounds since my surgery but I'm starting to grit my teeth every time I get on the scale. My clothes don't fit any differently either, so I don't even have that to comfort me. I know this happens to everyone but I've been doing so well and now I feel like a failure because the scale won't budge, and now I'm afraid I'm going to go back to my old "all or nothing" mentality that always caused me to fail before. I guess this is just bringing back bad memories from all my other failed weight loss attempts and it's putting me in a bad mood. Sorry to sound so negative...I just needed to vent about this. I know the scale will get moving again soon, especially since I'm going for an adjustment today. *sigh* Sometimes this journey isn't so easy!
  19. My fiance was having similar problems. He wanted to have the surgery in August so he got all his pre testing finished in June. When he called the surgeon's office to make sure they had everything they said they hadn't received the report from the psychologist that he had seem almost a month prior. Neither he nor his surgeon's office could get a hold of this woman for several days. Turns out she went on vacation without telling anyone...ridiculous. Needless to say that held up the whole works and now he'll have to wait several months to have the surgery. I think doctors' offices tend to forget that they are screwing with people's lives when they do things like this.

  21. Weighed in this morning at 207, nowhere near my goal but I'll get there eventually...
  22. I was at a support group meeting last week and the facilitator said the absolute number 1 reason that the band doesn't work the way it should is when bandsters drink with meals. It's been proven in studies and everything. Just don't do it!
  23. Haha, men have the strangest way of giving compliments! Keep up the great work!
