Got postponed :(
Thanks ya'll, i was feeling pretty bad about it when I got home, but now I'm thinking it's just a little more time to lose a couple more pounds and make sure I have the house in order. LisaS - There was an emergency surgery that came in, so, I can understand that. It is pretty hard to believe it's really happening and it's almost here.......it's kinda like Christmas, it seems sooooo far away until it sneaks up on you (especially when you haven't done any shopping, lol)

Got postponed :(
Well, went to my final pre-op appointment today, and they ended up booting me from surgery tomorrow to Monday.

Okay, now I'm scared!
Got the all clear from my PCP and their EKG showed no abnormalities. They did draw some blood and are running some labs and we're going to follow up in a month. Really hoping it was just a glitch with the first reading. On a side note, less that 24 hours woo hoo!

Okay, now I'm scared!
Everything with this journey has been smoothe sailing......until today. Just got a call from my surgeons office that my EKG came back abnormal and I need clearance from my PCP or cardiologist. WHAT?!? First, what do you mean "abnormal" and two, what the hell???? I had the EKG on the 4th and you're just figuring this out now 2 DAYS BEFORE SURGERY??? Ahhhhhhhhh! Luckily, I can get in with my PCP at 8AM, which is great (except I don't get home from work until 1AM) It's just frustrating, aren't we supposed to minimize stress levels before surgery, how does this help with that? I mean, seriously!!! Sorry, just had to rant. My surgeons office has been great, but this really should have been avoidable.

16 hours postop
Congrats, wishing you a speedy recovery!

Real Life, Real Work, Real Eating????
I have no insights for you, as I'm still a pre-op, but I have the same concern. My job as an electronics tech means I can't have food or drinks either, so I've been worrying about this too.

How long before I can comfortably climb in bed?
Thanks for the responses, ya'll are great!

How lond did it take for you to get the surgery?
I attended my first seminar in late August, 1st surgeon meeting early Dec. and having surgery March 17 I will say the biggest slow down I had was finding a psychologist that does the evals for weight loss surgery. If the surgeon you pick does not work with a specific psychologist I say go ahead and find one as soon as you can, I found they are few and far between, but that may just be central Alabama. Good luck!

My surgical experience
Deb, You had me grinning at your story. I love someone with a little 'tude! I would think you just added a little spice to the nurses hum drum day. Although, some people may be too serious to take it lightly.......but I thought it was funny Speedy recovery to you!

How long before I can comfortably climb in bed?
Hi everybody, It just occured to me that I actually have to climb into my bed. I have a step stool to help, but very little.(I'm really not that short, lol, it's just that big of a bed) This seems like it may be a "not so good idea" for the first few days. So, basically I'm wondering how long I'll be sleeping in the recliner (or is it a bad idea too?) Help, suggestions, comments, please?

Sleeved 2 days ago - Hospital Experiences
Congrats on your surgery! The only advice I have on the headaches is using the pressure point in the web of your hand. Squeeze the muscle in the web between thumb and pointer. I've only known a coupld people it works for, but it does minimize mine. Worth a shot, right? A neck massage can also help.....hope they get better soon.

I'm sleeved!!!!!
Congrats on your surgery and exceptional post-op! Hopefully you're the trend setter for the rest of us Marchies, lol.

Hey Yall it's Day 4 on my liquid diet!!!! Anyone with me?
I'm on day 4 too, and it does get easier as you go. The thing I've found to help dry mouth is listerine spray, just be sure to use sparingly. I also got some gummy vitamins last night, just to have something to chew....really helps! Good luck everybody!

Tomorrow is sleeve day!
Wishing you a speedy and pain free recovery. Let us know how you're doing as soon as you feel up to it.

Day 1 of Pre- OP Diet and I hope I make it
Today was my 1st day of the diet too, all protein drink and water. It wasn't too bad as far as hunger, but I was nauseous. Anybody else have that?
-
Starting the pre-op all liquid diet tomorrow
Thanks for the info, I ordered some of the chicken soup from Unjury cause I know I'll get sick of nothing but sweet. I wasn't really hungry today, but was very nauseous most of the day....really hoping that changes.

Starting the pre-op all liquid diet tomorrow
Well, I start the all liquid pre-op diet tomorrow. It may be a little silly, but I spent a lot of today cleaning out my cabinets and fridge and taking food to my family. All I have left if chicken broth, tomato soup, and apple juice in my kitchen, lol. I'm really hoping I can stick to this, I've done Atkins drinks before, but you at least get a meal a day with those! Oh well, happy thoughts, think happy thoughts!

Prayers PLEASE!!!!
Prayers sent your way.

What are you most looking forward too after surgery?
I have so many, but I'll narrow it down to: Not breaking out into a sweat everytime I walk outside in the summer To not be breathing heavy after even a little exertion To sit in the floor and then be able to get back up I'd also really like to try rock wall climbing, just looks so fun!

Update on surgery
Congrats on getting bumped up. Hope you get all the red tape figured out for work, I'm in much the same boat....work just trying to make the situation more difficult than it should be. Good luck and speedy recovery!

How long were you in the hospital?
Looks like it varies a good bit. I'm hoping for an overnight and leaving the next AM, I hate hospitals, you are always getting woke up, and it's so loud. I'd much rather be home to recover......but ultimately, I guess my body's reaction will determine that, huh?

Strange Dreams
Dawn of a new day, I'd take that dream, lol.

How long were you in the hospital?
Hi, I was just wondering about how much variance there is on hospital stays, barring any complications. I was told, up to 3 days.....anybody out there with less?
