  1. I have lost 75 lbs. in just over a year. No one seemed to notice until I hit the 50 lbs. mark. But the biggest comments came when I cut my hair really short!! However when I look in the mirror I still see myself as over weight. I am 7 lbs. away from the goal I set before surgery but now think I need to lose about 20 more lbs.
  2. After I eat or drink something I have started gurggling in my throat. This all started after I had a major stuck episode and threw up several times. It is really loud. Any help on what could be going on would be helpful.
  3. O.K now here it is 12:00 pm and I feel 100% better. I have been able to eat. No acid reflux. I even drank water. Thats what I love about the lap band. Something starts and last a couple days and then its over. Can anyone explain this.
  4. Also I forgot to mention I have been dealing with constipation for about 2 weeks.
  5. I didn't lose any weight and actually gain in the first 3 weeks. When I got my first fill that is when things started to happen. Please don't give up! Tell people you have lost some and will let them know when you lose more. Or just tell them it's none of your business. Good luck and don't give up. Excersing is a big step.
  6. I am going to try to keep this short. It was 1 year March 14 since I was banded. I have been fine and no major problems to speak of. On Saturday this pass weekend I had a migagraine and threw up several times. Since then I have felt terrible. On Sunday I could not eat anything it came back up. But in the evening I was able to keep down a little bit. Yesterday I threw up every time I tried to eat during the morning and afternoon. Around 6 last night I was able to eat a chicken breast slowly (took over a hour). But I have this gurgling in my throat and could not sleep last night because it did it all night long. I was having some acid reflux yesterday afternoon. I know what it is because I had it before being banded. Stomach virus and flu bug have been all around me so I was wondering if I could have a bug. I have not been sick with anything since being banded and not sure how a bug would make me feel. Can anyone tell me what is going on. Have I just irratated my throat and stomach from being sick? I am 12 pounds away from goal and just can't figure this out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Tropical sugar free fat free popscicle. I have lived on these for a year. They have 15 calories and taste so great.
  8. I actually gain weight after surgery. But after a couple weeks I started to lose. Don't get discouraged.
  9. I had the same problem a couple of months ago. You will be surprised that by taking out just a little fluid it will make a big difference. You should have to suffer. Good Luck.
  10. I to have bm troubles. I find that if i drink 100 ounces of water a day I do o.k. I also dry to eat veggies but sometimes I just have to take something. Senacot works best. If is gentle and works quick.
  11. I gained about 8 lbs. after surgery. They took me off my blood pressure meds which were a diruetic. After about 10 days I started back on meds and then started to lose weight. I was able to quit my blood pressure meds after 6 months and 50 lbs. Good Luck!!
  12. I was banded March 2011 and had a hernia repair. I had trouble with gas and chest pain for about 6 weeks. My doctor said it was the repair. Gas X really helped a lot but be careful they may cause constipation if you use to many. My chest hurt most at night when I layed down. Propping up on pillows helped this a lot. Good Luck.
  13. I miss bread. I was a really big bread eater. Sandwiches, rolls, light bread, biscuits you name the bread and I ate it. But I don't miss the 65lbs I have lost. Some trade offs are just worth it. I still take a bite or two of a crusty dinner roll but I don't eat the whole basket any more!!!!
  14. My favorite are Unjury Chocolate because it is not gritty and taste good and carnation instant breakfast sugar free it taste like chocolate milk. I also found to do the shakes in a blender with ice helps them go down smoother and it helps the taste. good Luck!!!
  15. I had 1cc fill on Monday and now I can't eat or drink anything until later in the day. I like a cup of coffee first thing in the morning and have never had a problem drinking it. Now it fill hung in throat. Is this normal or am I too tight. Never at a mouth full until 6:00 p.m. yesterday. I can't even sip water.
  16. I can't do any bread. I have trouble with eggs getting stuck. I have to eat slow or everything will get stuck. I can't do dry meat. I do crunchy stuff better than soft. Everyone is different so just take it slow and find out what works for you.
  17. O.K. I know this may sound crazy but sometimes when I have something stuck I just heave really hard and then everything goes on down. I don't like to throw up so any trick I can try I will.
  18. I suffer from back pain also. That is a big part of why I had the Lap Band because weight loss is suppossed to help. I am havinga hard time excercising because every time I do then my back hurts. I have found a pool workout is much easier and doesn't cause pain. Maybe you could try exercising in the pool. Also try getting a massage. Maybe it can be worked out for you. Must cheaper than doctor visit. Good Luck.
  19. My Belly rumbling is very loud also. My doctor told me this may happen but I wasn't prepared for how loud it is. It is kind of embarassing when you are with people and your belly sounds like a lion roaring. Benefiber 3 times a day has helped with the constipation but tummy still ROARS!!!
  20. I agree with Acadia. My doctor calls these slider foods. When I went back she told me to eat more solid food and see if I stayed fuller longer. Thats all I needed so my first fill wasn't until 10 weeks after surgery.
  21. Banded for 4 months and down 44 lbs. I was self pay and would do it again! Only regret I didn't do it sooner!! Also 52% to my goal of 150.
  22. Thank You so much for all the advice. I knew I could depend on my lap banders to give me good advice. I am going to try Benefiber.
  23. I need to know if anyone else is having trouble with constipation. I am taking a stool softner but I am still having trouble. I also have terrible gas to go along with this problem. My belly rumbles really loud. This embarrassing and I need some HELP! Any ideas would be Great.
  24. I had hamburger week 6. But I have found hamburger alone does not agree with me. I am able to add it to pinto beans or have chili and it does good.
  25. I won't say I keep it a secret, I just didn't tell everyone. I told my close family and a few of my sister-in-laws (I have 6 on my husbands side). Other than that I just haven't shared. I also don't tell people I am on a diet. IWhen asked how I am losing weight I tell them exercise and healthier eating. I come from a large family but of 4 siblings I am one that being overweight has effected. I have the high blood pressure no one else. This was a decision to make me healthy and live longer so that I might see my daughter grow up and have children. I also believe I am having a good influence on her because the we as a family are eating healthier.
