WORRIED!!!
So, I got my date, May 9th!! YAY. However, when I was in the dr.'s office they had me fill out my admitting paperwork so that when I show up to the hospital, I wont have to do it. On the back, they wanted my insurance info, now, Kaiser is it's own insurance and for those of you that don't know, they have their own everything. Dr.'s, nurses, hospitals, EVERYTHING. If you have Kaiser, you can only go to a Kaiser facility! They wanted to know who my insurance was through and what their phone number was. Well, it is my work, but shouldn't they know that? It is Kaiser for peets sake...they are their own insurance!!!! My question is this. I know that there are strict laws and HIPPA and stuff, but they are not going to call my work are they? I mean, I have told NOBODY that I work with about this!! And I would be devistated if they found out! The only person that knows is my husband at this point. I am really freaking out that they are going to call my work for some reason, but then again, I don't think that they can. Someone please tell me that they can't!! But, I don't know why they would ask for that information when they should know it, I guess I am just being paranoid because I am so afraid that my work is going to find out, only because some of the women I work with are such, well, you get the idea! Insurance DENIED because BMI is under 50??? WTH :(
OMG!! that is awful. That seems really high. Do you have to have comorbities with it too? I would see if you can appeal that. 50 is outrageous! Best of luck to you! Kelly

Fail?
So, I can not help but wonder....does the sleeve work for everyone or does it fail for some? I know that it is a tool and if it is abused, it will not work, but there are so many success stories that I read and I don't think I ever hear anything negative. I wonder if it seriously fails for anyone? Does anyone out there know of anyone that it just did not work for? I guess the reason I ask is that I have such a HUGE fear of failure. Again, I know it is something that I have to use and that if I don't do the work, it will not work, but I am so afraid that it is not going to work for me! Thanks for listening. Kelly

Losing weight before surgery
oh jeffrey, you took the words right out of my mouth! i too, have lost and regained the same weight over and over 100lbs to be exact. i CAN lose weight and fast. I just CAN NOT keep it off for very long. It is like i sabbotage myself or something. I don't know why I lose control and binge on things that I should not eat. I know the sleeve is going to keep me from doing that. I physically will not be able to eat, therefore, I can not do the same thing to myself as before! Good luck to you all! Kelly

Good news!!
I have Kaiser as my insurance and just made my Case Manager appt for this Wednesday 4/6!!! This is the appointment where I will be given my surgery date!! I am so excited. I have been going thru the program since Oct 10. I have lost 54lbs pre-op and am so looking forward to my new life post-op. I am hoping to be one of the lucky ones that no longer have hunger issues after surgery. I am so hungry all of the time and want it to stop so badly! Just wanted to share my good news! Best of luck to all of you. Kelly

Help! 10months post op- 8month long plateau!!!
I agree with others, eat a little more for a couple days and see if that helps. I find that when i hit a stall, if i eat a few more calories i will lose. Strange, but true. Your body thinks it is starving and holds on to everything you give it when it isn't getting enough. Try it! Kelly

One Month Out
GOOD JOB!! KELLY

so tempting!
i didn't have to do the medically supervised thing, but it has taken me 6 months to go thru the process. Kaiser makes you take lots of classes and visits and tests and they are strict. you have to follow their rules to a t and if you don't, you don't get surgery! i am finally at the last step in the process and am going to see the case manager on wednesday. that is the day i will get my surgery date!! i am so excited! hang in there, you will get to where you want and need to be and it will so be worth it!! best of luck to you! kelly

Scared and Not telling anyone
i am telling NOBODY except my husband! i am like foxbins, i too am writing a letter, to my mother, in case something, God forbid, should happen. Then, when i get home, I will shred it! My work thinks I am having a hernia repair surgery, which i am too, but they don't need to know about the rest. It is my business and no one elses. Good luck to all of you! Kelly

Advice
i am not telling anyone but my husband either! it is really nobody's business but mine! some are just so negative and don't understand or think it is such an EASY solution! i don't want to hear it. i have struggled since i was 9. i have failed miserably and I am over it! I don't want to hear negative, I want to get on with it and that is why i choose not to tell anyone! I have already lost 50lbs. pre-op, so I think after the surgery, they will never know unless i tell them because I will just continue to lose what I have already started! best of luck to you all! Diet After bariatric Surgery
You must have Kaiser! This is exactly what is in my binder! I can not believe that every surgery patient is not given information like I was given. Really blows my mind to think that there are so many that really have no idea how to eat after surgery....seriously? Kelly

What kind of treadmill do you have?
people are all of the time selling stuff. i would try to find a used one on craigslist or your local paper. sometimes hsn or qvc have great deals on treadmills and offer free shipping. if the weight limit is 250 and you are 300, i would buy it and not worry too much about it. you would be fine! and if you have already had surgery, you are going to lose that weight so fast that it wont matter anyway! best of luck to you! kelly
