  1. I can't believe that some of these dr.'s don't give pre-op diets to follow, it blows my mind. i have kaiser and they truely OVEREDUCATE you. i have been doing THEIR pre-op diet since i started the bariatric program back in october and have lost 60lbs!! it is a low carb, low fat, high protein diet. i find it very well balanced and very easy to follow!! please inbox me your email and i will be happy to scan it to you. it really works if you follow it and don't cheat!! i am not saying that i have not eatin' things i wasn't suppose to, but i pretty much stick to the rules!! You can do it! Good luck to you!! Kelly
  2. i weighed 280lbs at my highest. when i started the bariatric program, i knew they would make me lose weight, so i started losing. i was at 262 when i had my first surgeon consult and he told me i had to lose 20 lbs. I knew i could do it, but i never dreamed I would lose 60!! The pre-op diet is low carb, low fat, high Protein. It is not that bad becuase it is very well balanced. I like it. It is something that makes it easy to stay on. Now, I have strayed a time or two, but mostly, I stay on track! Thanks for the well wishes.!! When I do have my surgery, I will have a very short goal of 55 to 60 lbs. That will make me VERY HAPPY!! Best of luck! Kelly
  3. I do not know anyone. I just wanted to say I live in California, but am originally from Indiana. Terre Haute to be exact. Just wanted to say good luck to you. Keep us posted on your journey! Kelly
  4. i too, only have to do clears for 3 days. i have about 10 containers of broth. probably wont use that much seeing as how i wont be able to hold much anymore, but at least i have it! i plan on mixing it with unjury protein powder to get protein in. good luck to you! Kelly
  5. Good luck to you!! You will do fine. Let us know how you are feeling!! Make room for me on the 9th!! Kelly
  6. I can not believe that it is 50 bmi. That is outrageous!!! I have Kaiser and they pay for the surgery if you have a BMI of 40 w/o comorbities. and 35 with. I can not believe that!! Definatley fight them!! Good luck and keep us posted! Kelly
  7. i would say NEVER. i am not being a prude or anything, but smoke of any type is an irritant and i would not suggest that you do that to yourself. it can cause problems. is it worth it? Kelly
  8. ALSO, you will have your best restriction with protein. It makes you feel full and for longer. That is why the rule is PROTEIN FIRST!! Liquids run thru very fast and soft carbs run thru fast as well. Make sure that you are eating your protein first before anything else and you will be fine!! Also, don't drink with meals. You will do great. Don't worry!! Kelly
  9. Yes Msanti, I have been doing the pre-op diet since October of last year!! I have lost almost 60lbs! YAY!! My dr. is more than thrilled and is not going to make me do a liquid diet the week before surgery. I am GLAD!! I still have a week and a half before my surgery and I am still going strong, I hope to lose another 4lbs by my date making me 220lbs.! Yes, please message me or come back and tell me how you are! I look forward to hearing from you! Kelly
  10. That was the first date offered to me, but I chose the week after because of my job. I need to be there the first week of the month!! I would be there with ya'll, but I will be a week later. Save room for me on the loser's bench. Good luck to the both of you!! Kelly
  11. I was told that not everyone is given the same size stomach. That is why some can eat and drink more than others. That is why we should not compare ourselves to each other. Your surgeon may have given you a little bit bigger stomach than the other guy. If you can drink 1oz more, be glad! It doesn't mean you are streaching your stomach it just means you have more space than the next person. Hope this helps. Kelly
  12. Well, I did it!! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The Dr. was a totally un-sociable ass tho! The tech was really nice and saw that I was getting ready to have the sleeve and said his wife had one in 2008. He talked about how well she has done and that I will too! The Dr. doing the test would not tell me anything. He said he will send the results to my surgeon. The tech told me that if he had found something bad, he would have taken more pictures than he did. So, that made me feel better. I know I have a hernia, so I hope they were just looking at that more in depth because it is really big! Just wanted to let you all know that I survived and didn't vomit!! Kelly
  13. I take a sublingual B-12 Nature's Bounty I got at Costco. It is 2,500 mg and I take it daily. I am pre-op, but was told by my nut that the dosage is fine for post-op and if it needs to be adjusted after blood work, I will be told. Kelly
  14. Yeah, they already know I have a herina, they found that when they did the endoscopy and ordered this test. That is why I am concerned as to why! If they already know I have one, why do I need to do it. I am not worried about doing the test or drinking the stuff, I just don't know why they are doing it. I am nervous about what they are looking for, that is all! Thanks, Kelly
  15. I am so glad I don't have to do the liquid diet!! I like calling us May 9th people the "RED VELVET GANG" ! Afterall, that is my favorite!! Kelly
  16. good luck to you and keep us posted!! Kelly
  17. great job! you look awesome! keep rockin' that sleeve!! kelly
  18. So tomorrow is my Upper GI. I am a little nervous about this test tho. When I had the upper endoscopy done a few weeks ago the GI dr. ordered it. I am not really sure why. He told me it was so they could have a better view as to how my esophagus was working. I got scared and asked my surgeon if their was a problem. He said that they just were being "cautious". I sure hope that everything is o.k. I so would hate to have gone through all of this and be turned down. My date is aleready scheduled for the 9th of May! I have been doing this since last September. I have done everything asked of me, followed all the rules and all the classes. I am so nervous that something is going to go wrong!!!!!!!!! The only thing I have left to do is my pregnacy test and I know I am good on that!! LOL SIGH! Kelly
  19. Good Job!! You are beautiful!! Kelly
  20. my dr. says that for the first 2 weeks, nothing down the throat to treat constipaiton. if you TRUELY are constipated it must be an enema! make sure that you are really constipated!! simply not going doesn't mean that you are. you are not eating much and only doing liquid at this point. your body doesn't have much if any waste to get rid of. contstipation is bloating and feeling like you have to go but can't. oh, and it really hurts and is uncomfortable! so, don't just take stuff thinking you should be producing unless you are TRUELY constipated. that will just cause other issues later! kelly
  21. Sounds like everything went well. I bet you will be at goal too!! GOOD LUCK!! Kelly
  22. That unjury chicken is really good. I ordered 3 sample paks and they are yummy! I am going to a tub! Kelly
  23. I think it is a very personal decision to tell or not! I am telling nobody, except my husband. My own mother doesn't even know! However, I may tell her later! People are so judgemental and ignorant when it comes to WLS and it really pisses me off. I just don't want to hear the negative comments about it! I have lost almost 60lbs pre-op, so I don't think many will suspect too much. I am having hernia repair too and that is what my work thinks I am having done. I will just continue with my weight loss as I have and I don't think many will suspect too much. If they do, it is really none of their business! Good luck to you! Kelly
  24. Some people do have lactose issues after surgery. I would just make sure that there are not chunks. Either strain the chunks out or puree them. Good luck! Kelly
