  1. Hey everyone I was sleeved on the 26th! My pre surgery weight was 299, I lost 17lbs my first week bringing me down to 282, and this last week I lost another 5 lbs bringing me down to 277 I was bummed I didn't loose AS much weight as the first week, but I can't complain too much I did loose 22lbs so far I start work on Tuesday, I'm super excited!! Has anyone gone back to work yet?
  2. Come join my group Military Spouse Sleevers on VST. We only have 2 members and I know there are lots more tricare patients on here Anyways I would love the support of others and to offer my support to you!! Hope to see ya there! Sarah
  3. I was sleeved on the 26th of August, I was just wondering how soon everyone started exercising. My surgeon encourages light cardio like walking and the stationary bike. I've been doing the stationary bike for 30 min a day on level one for the past couple of days, but it is sooooo boring! Anywhoo.. Thanks in advance for answers! Sarah
  4. I had the same thing happen to me! I had an allergic reaction to the dermabond they used to close my incisions. My doc peeled off all the glue, and gave me a scrip for some benadryl. It still seems to be hanging around though. It's definitely not as red as it was, but it's still really itchy
  5. Hey Veronica, I still haven't found out about the saggy skin, hopefully we will hear from someone who knows!!
  6. Wow I'm so glad I'm not alone!! I have had a super sense of smell since the surgery too!!! It seems to be a bit better today, I don't feel like a cat lol. I definitely don't have thrush, so I'm guessing it must be from the intubation. My doc did say that the anesthesia can cause a super schnazz so I wasn't even thinking about that, but I guess the hairball feeling makes sense. I can't wait to progress!!! So sick of protein shakes!!!!
  7. Thanks everyone
  8. I'm a total diet dr. pepper addict!! I miss it soo much already I wonder if I let it go flat if it would be ok to drink it?
  9. Mine really isn't drainage or anything. I can't cough stuff up even when I try, but it feels like I have a long hair or something stuck in the back of my throat. I took a zyrtec today too, but it didn't really help. Gonna take it again tomorrow and see if I can try to get over it.
  10. That once sleeved you can never have soda ever again? Not even the diet kind?
  11. K so I was sleeved on the 26th of August, and for about the last week or so I have this feeling like I have a ton of hair in the back of my throat, I have looked in the mirror and I don't see anything. My hubby said he cant see any hair, but I FEEL it in there. No matter how much I sip and sip and sip I can't get the feeling to go away. It makes me gag if I think about it too long. Does anyone else have this? I thought maybe it was something to do with just me, but I have heard of weird things happening after the surgery so just wondering if anyone else experiences it. I know it's weird, but thanks in advance for the input!! Sarah
  12. Yeah I just took some zyrtec hoping it will give me some relief!
  13. Ok, I really hope I can get in touch with my doc, I don't think I need to go to the ER, but it is definitely uncomfortable.
  14. Hey everyone!! My name is Sarah, I'm 20, and I was sleeved 11 days ago on the 26th of August. I'm really happy that I was able to do this young. My support group at the hospital is all people who are like 50 plus. Which doesn't really bother me, but it is very hard to relate to someone who has 30+ years on you, regardless of the experience you share. I am happy to know I'm not the only one who had this done in my 20's!!! I was just wondering, since we are younger, and for those of you who are further out, how bad is the extra skin once you've lost most or all of your weight? That is one of my biggest fears after weight loss, is having a ton of extra skin. Well let me know!! Thanks!! Sarah
  15. Ok, thanks!! Did you have dermabond too?
  16. You can add me turtlebutt825 to the 26th
  17. Ok so I was sleeved on 8/26, and I am about 11 days out. I am just having a few issues, my first one is that my incisions were sealed up with that dermabond stuff, and I am getting little sore, itchy red bumps all around the incisions, I called my doc's office and they haven't called back yet So I'm just wondering if this is typical, like a contact reaction to the dermabond, or is it something I should be worried about? My second issue is that it seems that I am constantly nauseated, I am nauseous after I drink Water, after I eat, if I don't put anything in my tummy, I am just constantly nauseous. I was finally able to start going to the bathroom yesterday, so I thought maybe that was why I was nauseous, but it's still hanging around today. I took my prilosec this morning and I feel awful like I wanna puke. Idk what is causing this, but it is incredibly frustrating. I am on full liquids till next Monday, then I start on purees. I'm just wondering if anyone else has this? Lastly, I weighed myself yesterday and I had only lost 1lb since Fri, and that doesn't seem like a big deal I guess, but last week I was losing at least a lb a day, if not more! Did I do something wrong, or is this normal? Thanks in Advance for any advice!! Sarah
  18. Hi everyone, I was sleeved last Friday, Aug 26th, and I progressed from clear liquids to full liquids when I came home from the hospital on Monday. I've been doing pretty good with the protein shakes, but I'm getting burnt out on the soup. I only like the cream of chicken and mushroom, and I am looking for ideas for other ok things to eat. Any suggestions? I still have 10 more days of liquids before I move on to mushy stuff so I need some help!! Thanks! Sarah
  19. Ok yeah definitely!! Yeah I'm pretty sure that Madigan requires all of that. I think I'm gonna just ask for the referal maybe I will schedule the seminar this week, but I will definitely let them know that you referred me
  20. Awesome thank you so much!! My friend has been on the waiting list since October of last year so she is still going to classes and stuff and probably wont get her surgery until summer, or at least that is what she is telling me. Did you get the referal to Swedish with Tricare Prime? If they can do that I would much rather be able to do it sooner rather than waiting almost a year. I know that seems impatient, but I've been overweight since I was 8 lol, I'm really ready to try to make some forward movement. This appointment in April seems like it is taking forever... lol Also do you have to go to Seattle for fills? ETA: Did you just go straight to Swedish in Seattle, or did you talk to your PCM first?
  21. Ok so I'm fairly new to the Army life and Tricare and what not, but I just have a few questions regarding Tricare. (We are stationed at Fort Lewis, WA) I have an appointment at Madigan to discuss with my Doctor my eligiblity for the lap band on 4/4. I'm 21, 5'11" and 287lbs. Which is 200% overweight, I think. My BMI is 40 and I have no co-morbidities. I have a friend who is in a similar situation and she said they approved her fairly quickly, but she was on the waiting list for like 3 months and now she is taking all these classes and such. My biggest fear is that my Dr. is gonna tell me that I am ridiculous and I don't need the lap band. I have been overweight since I was 8 and obese since I was 13. I have been on every diet that they have ever put out there, with some success on some, but I always gain back everything I lost plus another 15-30lbs. I also have infertility and cycle irregularities due to my weight. I also have a family history of hypertension and heart disease. And my mom has had breast cancer twice. I personally don't have any health issues that I know of, besides the infertility (my husband and I were trying for 15 months before we gave up). I want to lose weight to be able to have a child eventually and to live my life. What do you think the possibility of Tricare approving me is? And if I do get approved how long does the process usually take? Lastly after weight loss does Tricare cover the removal of excess skin if necessary? Thanks!! Sarah
