February 2007 bandsters!
Audra Thank you for sharing; I am with you on soups. I am not a big fan of anything in a can (past medical issue) speghettii's would taste like tin to me . so most every soup I eat is home made and or comes frozen or fresh. Go see my post on Nevada board for some other ideas I have come up with today at the grocery store. Dr. told me NO pasta or RICE because of the calorie count.

You know~ I expected to lose alot more weight than I have on this bariatrix stuff. It is only 985 calories per day and I probably only cheat maybe 100-200 calories per day, and I usually don't drink the final drink at night so that would be 85 cal. less. And my cheating is strictly pure protien, egg white, chick breast, or shrimp without any seasoning. Hmmmm... OH! FYI I was told that Dr. Sasse is opening a diet center that should open very soon in Reno for NON surgery patients~ I thought this tidbit of info was VERY interesting~ but no details DAMN! If anybody gets the nerve up to ask him (he's not my dr) I would be interested in his take on this.

Red: I am getting ready for Thurs. and reading through my stuff. Did you have to do a fleet enema??? Or is that meant for the RNY gastric bypass patients only? P

Gail; Just plain balsalmic vinigar right out of the bottle. It is good, don't second guess because it is on our "allowable" list that it is crap, I really like it.

February 2007 bandsters!
Does anybody think that bean soup ( I could put it in the blender) counts as part of the liquid diet? I am just trying to come up with a food list for post op. I am REALLY tired of shakes and at this point can't wait to put something with substance in my mouth.

Red; Because you are so well spoken and have great advice and your hubby was so kind to post as soon as you got home I just assumed you were much older. And~what a great hubby you have, when we were in support group he kept looking at you and rubbing your shoulder and back and hand, what a great couple you guys are! Those bodybuggs ARE expensive! Wow! Don't think I will be rushing out to buy one anytime soon... How far do you think you could walk at this point? For excercise purposes... I must go to an auction 3 days post surgery; do you think that would be pushing it? Surgery on Thurs auction on Saturday. You are so young and I am glad for you to deal with the weight issue early in your life! I wish I was that smart when I was younger, and I probably was, except the band was not available. I was reading over the post op diet and it said bean soup (blenderized), I love bean soup, and make really good 7 bean soup. I have been pretty good on the pre op diet for the last couple of days. The protien shakes you are drinking; are they still the baritrix?

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???
Chris It is about 1 hour long, I think you should go. It may be a waste of your time, depending on what you are looking for. The one at Christmas was a Santa reading stupid ignorant story (can't remember the content) BUT what was the most important part was the interaction with everybody in the room sitting at round tables (not like st. mary's) make sure you sit with somebody at your table~ to benefit more. And if you hear a good conversation at somebody else's table pull up a chair! It was good for me, I was at the beginning stages and wanted to know "would I really lose weight and not starve", I was assured I would. There are people there who are in varying stages of this process, some losing at a very slow pace, some gained, some who use this tool as we want to use ours.

February 2007 bandsters!
K Holmes I went tonight to get my post op meds, my date is 2/22. I have a local thread in Nevada that I regularly post on and a bander that was banded yesterday, said as soon as she got checked in the anestheseologist gave her a "cocktail" to calm her nerves. My plans are I am asking for a cocktail when I walk thru the doors. So you are doing a liquid diet at this point right? May I ask what your menu choices are?

January Bandsters???
Bandida Good for you for walking that much... Do you walk 3-5 miles all at one time? Do you break it up to a couple times per day? I walk my dogs 1 mile each day and I am pre banding and I am pretty proud of myself doing that. How long does it take you to walk 3-5 miles?

I picked up my meds at the pharmacy today. My pharmacist has known me for 15 years and asked what I was doing, why was I getting these and I told him I was going in for a hernia operation; that is my story from this day forward to everybody, not that I am ashamed but if I am going to lose weight I want the full 100% credit.

UPdate!Update! After I got the pep talk from the nutritionist, my headache, nausea and starvation feeling made me feel like crap. So kept saying "are you SURE you are getting 11 scoops daily"? and I started writing it down and maybe I was not because, I felt full tonight at dinner to the point I did not finish my plate! woohoo So here is what I did. at 430 I did a 1 scoop snack @ 620 I drank a crystal light drink @645 I drank a 3 scoop shake @645 I drank 2 cups of chick broth @645 I tried to eat 2 cups salad with balsalmic vinigar and was so full I could not finish!!! woohoooo! Thank God! and at 730pm I have no headache and not nauseated. This is really cool. I don't know if it is phsycological or whatever but I am not hungry right now.

Diane From what I understand the first 6 weeks is for healing not restriction. You may have benefitted from the swelling after surgery and experienced restriction but between that and your first fill you are wide open.

Red Right on~ I am sooooo glad you told me about the anesthesiologist cocktail they give you. I am very concerns about me getting stage fright once I arrive at the hospital. So I will ask for mine during cocktail hour (which would be as soon as I arrive) I heard to walk walk walk for the gas in your shoulder. You have already lost 20 since the start, that is fabulous, and I bet it is noticeable too!

Chris I CALLED the nutritionist and was asking for pointers on the nausea and the starvation, she said "suck it up", of course in very nice terms. I never told her I was bloatedl; but that does go away after a couple days. I told her I slightly cheated a couple times, she said broth broth broth and make sure we do 11 scoops per day spread out and that should help a little, but no other pointers. I am a little happy that I am not the only one starving here.

Muttman; Congrats! And tell me how everything went since you are the first of "our local" group to have gone through the process by own of our own local dr's. Which hosp did you go to? Will you give us details? Did Dr. Kozar come into you while you were in recovery and tell you everything was okay or did you lay there in la la land wondering how everything went? Does the band make you feel satiated? Is it as you expected? Would you do it again? What food stage are you on? What are you eating? How much are you eating before you feel full? Is it a HUGE difference?

Hey Red!!! Today IS the day! Congrats! It is going to be wonderful after you get all the gas out of your body so walk walk walk walk walk! And I noticed by your ticker you are down already 19 #'s that is great. I "SUCK" at this bariatrix liquid diet! I get headaches (which ormally I never get) I get weak (mentally to stay on bariatrix) and physically. When I am hungry I am a different person entirely!WOW So I can't wait until my day is here so I can feel full again.

Yes I geocache.. My husband is the City of Sparks city surveyor so geocacheing is his passion. We sometimes spend all day geocacheing. He likes it 1000000% more than I do. We should geocache together, which would be good excercise for all of us, spouses and kids.
