  1. Instead of 2 anastamosis, there is only one. A gastric bypass involves 2 connections to the intestines, the Mini Gastric only involves 1 connection. They are very similar otherwise. What are your current stats? When did you get your sleeve? How much did you lose? What have you chosen to revise?
  2. Severe GERD, very severe. I hadn't slept on my back in years, I was throwing up blood, esophageal damage, etc. It was a nightmare@ Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Thank you so much Meryline! I really appreciate the encouragement. I know we are told not to parallel our journey with anyone else's, but it so hard not to compare myself. With the help of all of y'all, I am re-focused on ME and MY unique journey!
  4. Good for you! I too, am so happy to be free of GERD. I could never imagine sleeping as well as I am now. It's wonderful.
  5. I'm hanging in there. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. This forum does so much for me. It's like "walking the halls" full of people just like me.
  6. Hi There MGB Peeps! I think I am being a good sport, but this slow losing really has me discouraged. I am now 3 weeks out and have only lost 10 pounds since surgery day . I know they say revisions lose more slowly, but this is the pits! It's very frustrating when you see that others are losing 20-30 lbs. the first month. I know I am nowhere near on track to deliver that kind of result. Anybody else having a similar experience?
  7. Hi- I had my sleeve surgery 9/28/2011, with a high weight of 256. I lost down to 177, but began having sever GERD. I began eating carbs to tamper down the acid. It worked for the acid, it destroyed my weight loss. I just newly converted to the Mini Gastric Bypass. You will not find a ton of information on this surgery, and little none on conversions from Sleeve to Mini Bypass. There is a Mini Gastric Bypass forum on here, but like I said, information is very limited since it is not a widely accepted surgery her in the United States. There are very few doctors that do them. Anyway, I am only nearly 3 weeks out from surgery so I cannot fully testify to the efficiency for weight loss. However, I will tell you in terms of the GERD that I feel like I have a whole new lease on life. It is magical to be free of acid!

    Band to Sleeve to Bypass

I did this, minus the band journey. I went from Sleeve to Bypass and haven't looked back! Now, I'm only nearly 3 weeks out, so I can't testify to the weight loss results yet, but as far as the GERD that change in my life has been MAGICAL! It feels so good to sleep on my back, to drink water before bed and in the night if I am thristy, to not have to sabotage my weight loss by relying on carbs to temper down the acid, and to free myself from the fear of developing Barrett's Esophagus or esophageal legions or ulcers. Trust me, living with chronic severe GERD is no way to live. Come on back to the civilized side, DO IT! You will certainly thank yourself later.

    Trouble with Eggs

Thank you for all your input. I think I will put off trying them for a while longer, and when I do, add some moisture (salsa, sauce, etc.)
  10. Hi There! Anybody else have trouble with eggs? I have tried them twice, both times left me hanging over the throne. I'm wondering if it will always be this way...
  11. That is exactly the reason I am doing it. The acid reflux is unbearable, and in my consult the surgeon said the conversion should resolve the issue.
  12. Hello All- I am scheduled for Sleeve Revision to Mini-Bypass on Sept 29th. I do not have enough vacation time to take extended time off, so I will be returning to work in 5 days. I am having my surgery with Dr. Ilan. Any tips, advice, input, or expectations you would like to share? I took off 2 weeks with my sleeve and was bored to tears after about 5 days. So, I'm confident I'll be fine to return to my desk job so quickly. Also, it has been rumored that my weight loss will much slower with the second surgery than it was with the Sleeve. Anybody have any insight on this? Thanks in advance.
