  1. My kids didn't really even ask for an explanation regarding the surgery. My mom offered it to me 13 months before I took her up on it, never told anyone either. I told my hubby and kids at the same time, at our Christmas dinner with my mom. I said, "Grandmom is giving me the best Christmas present ever, lapband surgery!" Our commercials on the radio and tv were so saturated with the 1-800- LapBand song, my then 10 year old girl was singing it all the time.
  2. I totally agree with Missy above. For me, the lapband isn't about restriction. Although I wish it controlled my hunger better, I am so thankful to have this tool. Without it, I am sure I would 20 pounds heavier than I was 2 years ago when I had the surgery. When my band is filled to the point of restriction and allowing me to go 5 hours without being hungry, I have heartburn, get food stuck, and have a hard time even getting Water down. It's such a fine line of getting it right for me. I have had such minimal sizes of fills that we just can't find that happy spot for me. So I choose to deal with the hunger rather than being too tight too many times. I don't ever want to have any problems with my band that would result in it being removed. As far as eating one cup of food? Sure, I could eat more but 99% of the time I don't. It is enough to keep me satisfied long enough. One huge thing for me and the lapband is it has totally slowed my eating down. Where as before I could polish off a HUGE plate of food in under 10 minutes (no exaggeration!), I now take about 30 minutes or so for my meal which is at least 1/4 the size. I love my food too, prob even more so now that I have to take my time eating it! So coming from a huge foodie like myself, If I can lose 100 pounds you can do it too!
  3. 3 months post op I was down 29 pounds. I lost and still lose best when staying at 1,000 calories a day.
  4. you say you "must" be having 1000 calories a day. Are you logging every thing that you are eating? Because if not, you may be eating more than that. To gain weight you need to be eating more than what you are putting out each day. Don't give up though. You lost it once you will do it again. At least you didn't gain it all back! Good luck.
  5. That's what happened to me a few times also when I had to have some removed. Had a few stuck episodes and the swelling wouldn't go down. Immediate relief afterwards! Hope you are feeling better soon.
  6. My meals prob measure around one cup. I measure my meats and cheese in weight and all others in measuring cups. I could always eat more than that, but I don't. If you can go around 4 hours after eating 3 ounces protein and veggie/starch then you more than likely don't need a fill.
  7. You should still be in the soft food stage. Try mashed potatoes, refried beans, yogurt, cottage cheese, apple sauce, soft cooked veggies, and oatmeal to name a few.
  8. baby carrots at times, snow peas even when I destring them. Other than that, not much that I really recall. I do stay away from dry meats just not to risk it. Usually if I get something stuck it is because I was eating too fast and too big of bites.
  9. dang, I want to eat now just reading through these posts........time to get the water!
  10. praying you feel better soon and can get released tonight
  11. I know Cazzy is from the UK...you can find her on my friends list.
  12. In a heartbeat! Pain??? I don't even remember honestly, so it wasn't that bad!
  13. everyone is different. Be happy you lost that much in 2 weeks! I was only down 13 my first month.
  14. I have had 4 unfills. 8-16-11 .1.5 removed, 8-24-11 1.1 added 2-14-12 .4 removed, 2-28-12 .25 added 7-3-12 .2 removed 8-28-12 .3 removed On the 2 times I had another fill, I didn't have any problem.
  15. ditto what Missy and Carolina said. I weigh and measure my meals and stick to it, rarely if ever add anymore to my plate. And I also log everything on myfitnesspal. If I am battling emotional eating and it's night time, I will take a bath and sometimes just head to bed to watch tv.
  16. I was 235 and did just fine. We have the sit on top type....
  17. I'll take the rounding up!!! I weighed in this morning at 131.8, but it shows me as 131.....

If you did your research you would have learned that the band is just a tool to help you lose weight. It's not magic, it wont make you choose the right foods and if you eat slow enough you can still eat way more than you really need. It helps me to be satisfied on smaller portions of food so I consume less calories than I put out, hopefully anyways with exercise!
  20. I get the jist of it......... She went on a cruise with her hubby and he isn't supportive of her diet. So she ate some things on the cruise because her hubby said it was ok and it was hard for her to pick chicken over the pizza and cake because her hubby is a junk food eater, and she got things stuck....Now she is doing liquids to make up for the time on the cruise. Not sure if she is stuck at 225 or trying to get there!
  21. woot, woot! Awesome job!
  22. woo hoo!!! awesome job girl!
  23. You said you are eating pretty healthy, but are you logging everything that you are eating? I am back to losing again now that I am keeping my calories around 1,000 a day. I weigh and measure everything that I eat.
