Just wanted to share that I am down 11 pounds in my pre-op diet!! WOOHOO!! I can't believe how much 11 pounds effects someone! Surgery is this Tuesday and I can't wait. I am not nervous in the slightest bit and am so excited. Good luck to anyone else being banded this coming week!!

Pre-op dieat and the weekend?
As far as getting your fluids in if you are running around. Carry bottled Water, or whatever you are drinking. Just drink it as you are out. And if you have to mix your Protein drink (meaning you are using powder) then have it pre-measured in a snack size zip lock baggie and keep it in your purse. You can mix it up when needed. No biggie. While going out on the weekends . . . I am not sure what your doctors say but mine says DO NOT drink ANY alcohol on LRD. In the grand scheme of things it is a very short time, only a few weeks. You can still go out, just have a tonic, or selzer , plain water, or bring your own drink. Your life does not have to stop but things are going to have to change. And even after the pre-op and post-op diet things are going to have to change. That is why we are doing this. I suppose it comes down to how important is it to you?

Pre-Op Diet! Protein Shakes Suggestions Please???
I use Bariatric Fusion and I LOVE IT! (www.bariatricfusion.com) I use the powder and it is really good. And I am lactose intolerant and I mix it with water and it is still good. Fills me right up and I don't have any problems.

nails
I have been on a liquid diet almost 2 weeks now. I take a good daily multivitamin and have 108 gr of protein in my shakes daily and my nails look great.

How do you...?
I had my nutrition class last night and she told us that one good thing to do it find a Protein Bar that you really like. Cut it into bite size pieces and put in a baggie in your purse. This way if you are somewhere that does not have good food choices then you can at least have your Protein in w/ your bar. I know that you can't do this for 4 days, lol, but it's an idea for when we are out and not in control of the food.

Getting Banded 3/3!!!!!!
Keep busy. Believe me that it helps keep your mind off "I can't eat" and helps. When I feel like I am getting hungry and it isn't time for my shake I have broth or Jello, or sometimes, both. I also will do something. Whether it is laundry, cleaning or exercise. Something to get my mind off of what my head is telling me. This gives me time to listen to my body and see what it is telling me. 9 times out of 10 I am NOT hungry, my mind just tells me I am. It is work but I am sure that you will do great!! Congrats on the surgery date!!

HELP! FEELING DESPERATE
35 pounds is awesome!!! Congratulations! So you don't have insurance or a job at the moment and can't afford fills and husbands car is smushed okay. Then let's focus on what you DO have. You are down 35 pounds!! That is what . . . 7 five pound bags of sugar!! Go to the store and try carrying that around with you a few isles. lol That is such an awesome accomplishment!! You also have the knowledge of what you need to do, fill or not. Use your knowledge right now to get yourself back on track. Journal your food intake, eat on smaller plates, drink plenty of fluids. I have found that when I want to nibble on something it isn't because I "am hungry" it is out of habit. So if I go to the kitchen or even start to think of wanting food and I know that I don't need to eat yet I will do 20 push-ups or sit ups, hop on the gazelle or go for a walk. Whatever you can do to help you get your mind off food. I know that it is tough when you are home with no car but use what you do have. You have made it this far and you CAN DO THIS!! And keep coming back here for support and encouragement!! Good luck!!

OMG! I Gained Weight!!!
WOW!! ARE YOU FOR REAL?? Way to encourage! Hope no one treated you like this when you needed encouragement or asked questions! Everyone's journey is different! No two people are going to loose/gain weight the same. And a little FYI for you: this is completely NORMAL after surgery. You really need to think about your reply and how it was not appropriate and that you need to man up and apologize!!
